In February 2015, Columbia University—currently ranked the fourth most distinguished academic institution in the United States by U.S. News and World Report—announced that all its students, undergraduate and graduate alike, would be obliged to take part in a “Sexual Respect and Community Citizenship Initiative.” This “new, required programming,” the Columbia bureaucracy explained, was designed to explore “the relationship between sexual respect and community membership.” Columbia’s students were given a menu of “participation options.” They could watch a minimum of two preselected videos about “rape culture” and gender identity and write a “reflection” about what they had learned. They could attend...

Well, my residence has been "selected" to participate in the "mandatory" census-type survey, 2015 National Content Test. Never heard of this before, and am leery about participating - so I won't. It is not a census year, so this is not required by law in my thinking. My question regards the "required by law" part. Laws can only apply to people or entities. The form threatens me by telling me that my response is "required by law," but since the census only selects residences/properties, I am not personally, specifically named to answer. This seems like a very unenforceable "law" if...

BAYONNE -- After a yearlong battle with stomach cancer, Marcy Borders -- the woman known as the "Dust Lady" from the iconic photo taken of her as she escaped from the Twin Towers on Sept. 11 -- has died, according to Facebook posts by multiple family members. Michael Borders, Marcy Borders' brother, said in a Facebook post at 11:22 a.m. yesterday that he needed everyone to pray for her, before posting about 12 hours later: "I can't believe my sister is gone."
  • Is Trumps movement fascist rather than conservative?

I am honestly getting a little scared of what I see happening in politics at the moment. Trump seems to be creating a personality cult where his supporters don’t seem to care what they are supporting provided he attacks the people they don’t like. I am starting to feel a little bit like a German citizen in the early 1930’s watching normally rational conservatives start to cultishly follow a strong leader who they thought would fight back and stop the communists. Seriously if I had to pick a political philosophy for the Trump movement I would say that it is...
  • Scott Walker: Anti Immigrant Phony

Scott Walker took every position imaginable on birthright citizenship last week—so why is he so awkward about it? Because he doesn’t believe it. For Scott Walker, last week could have been magic. But—thanks to his struggles with immigration—it was doomed. The headlines started beautifully: On Aug. 18, he had a verbal tussle with a protester who heckled the Wisconsin governor’s soapbox speech at the Iowa State Fair. “I am not intimidated by you, sir, or anyone out there,” Walker said to a heckler, according to CNN. “This is what happened in Wisconsin. We will not back down, we will do...

Raucous Trump supporters, Lynette “Diamond” Hardaway and Rochelle “Silk” Richardson, better known as the “Stump-for-Trump Girls,” have become a YouTube sensation with their hilarious rants and staunch support for Donald Trump. Today Lynette and Rochelle took on Jeb Bush “the joke” for finally getting enough energy to get up and go to the US-Mexico border. “ “Let me tell you who’s the joke. Jeb Bush. Yeah, I heard he went back down there to that border or by that border. Jeb, if you wanted measurements all you had to do is call Donald Trump. Why are you trying to copycat...

You really have to marvel at the stupidity of progressives and now is one of those times. One of the main reasons Donald Trump is doing so well in the polls is because he’s saying what many Americans are thinking about illegal immigration and border security. National Journal columnist Clare Foran worries that if a wall is built on the border, as Trump has suggested, people who try to cross into America illegally could be injured. Her new column is truly stunning: “ Donald Trump’s Border Wall Could Have Deadly Consequences Donald Trump wants America to build a permanent wall...
  • How to stop most "Anchor Babies" from being created.

    Today. | Me.
The United States is being flooded with Immigrants, many of which have children here, and those children are currently regarded by the law as US Citizens. We refer to these children as "Anchor Babies", because they then allow for the rest of the family to be brought into the United States, thereby "anchoring" the family in the United States, where it otherwise would have no right to be. An Interesting and clever way of addressing the problem has recently occurred to me. The 14th amendment was originally understood as not applying to Indians, because they were not regarded as "subject...
  • Why Polls Alone Don't Show the True Leaders of the GOP Race

Who are the leaders in this crowded race for the GOP nomination? If you look at national polls, the top three are Trump, Bush, and Carson. If you look at New Hampshire, it's Trump, Kasich, and Bush. If you look at Iowa, it's Trump, Carson, and Walker, though I don't know how proud Scott Walker can be to be third in a state that should almost be giving him a home-state advantage. But these polls by themselves don't show who the leaders are in the race. To know the answer to that question, you have to look at all the...

The Dow Industrial Average fell by 358 points on Thursday and 531 points on Friday. Yesterday, after plunging more than a thousand points, it recovered to a “mere” 588 point loss. Economic growth has been slow, and another recession appears to be on the horizon. Could a President Donald Trump get the economy going again? So far he has only laid out the bare bones of his economic plan. But it has the makings of an excellent program. Balancing Trade First and foremost, he plans to negotiate balanced trade agreements and even threatens taxes on imports as a way to...

Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (Isil) have destroyed one of Palmyra’s most well-known ancient temples, according to Syria’s antiquities chief. Carefully stage-managed photographs by Isil show the moment the terrorist group destroyed one of the best known temples at Syria’s ancient city of Palmyra. The images, released by Isil’s media wing in the central province of Homs, revealed the Temple of Baalshamin was littered with explosives before it exploded into a mushroom cloud on Sunday.

Buying a home is only getting more expensive.Mortgage website HSH.com has updated its estimate of how much annual income a household would need to buy a home in major metro areas in the US, according to second-quarter 2015 data.Prices have increased across the board. The site looked at median home prices from the National Association of Realtors, along with interest rates for common 30-year, fixed-rate mortgages and property taxes, and insurance costs, to figure out how much money it would take to pay a median-priced home's mortgage, taxes, and insurance in each city — and how much you would have to...
  • Computer Security Company Founder John McAfee: Ashley Madison hack was an 'inside job'

John McAfee may no longer be associated with the famous security company he founded, but he still writes about and consults on the topic, and he now claims to know the Ashley Madison “hack” was, in fact, data stolen by a “lone female who worked for Avid Life Media.” His argument relies on two separate bits of evidence. First, McAfee says the files found in the leaked database contain some peculiarities that he wouldn’t expect a hacker to normally access. “The data contains actual MySQL database dumps,” he says, adding “this is not just someone copying a table and making...

Big Bang Theory star Mayim Bialik believes that "it's never going to be trendy to be observant or religious in Hollywood circles." The Jewish married mother of two told Fox News that she received a lot of negative attention after taking a trip to Israel. "I've gotten a lot of negative attention for visiting Israel," she said about her trip to visit a friend in the Israel Defense Forces. "That's what's amazing...simply by going to Israel this summer and saying nothing more than, 'I've gone to Israel,' I got the same amount of hatred and threats and anti-Semitism for actually...

Putting together the information now publicly available, the question has to be asked: Did an ISIS hack of Hillary Clinton’s virtually defenseless home brew server set up the death of Ambassador Christopher Stevens? ISIS has proven itself adept enough at information technology that a successful hack of Hillary Clinton’s server at her Chappaqua mansion cannot be ruled out, no matter how many Secret Service members stood guard. Apparently unbeknownst to the former secretary of state who boasted of the server’s security because of the guards outside, it is so easy to hack a garden variety server set up by a...

GREENVILLE, S.C. — Jeff Duncan, the popular and very conservative representative from South Carolina's 3rd Congressional District, has never had three presidential candidates appear at his annual Faith and Freedom Barbecue. But tonight, at the Civic Center in Anderson, S.C., he's welcoming Ben Carson, Ted Cruz, and Scott Walker -- and fueling a lot of speculation about who has the best chance to win South Carolina's first-in-the-South primary. Who's leading the race right now? Donald Trump, just like everywhere else. But South Carolina, for a variety of reasons, has a paucity of polling compared to Iowa and New Hampshire. The...

If another day has passed, then Scott Walker must have a new position on birthright citizenship. A week ago, after Donald Trump came out against birthright citizenship, we found out Walker was against it too. Then we were told he was "tired" when he clearly said on video that he was against it, and actually his position on birthright citizenship was that he had no position (are you still following?). Then today we find out that Scott Walker does have a position, which is that he does not want to repeal birthright citizenship, and wants to continue letting anchor babies...
