JAMES ISLAND, S.C. (AP) — Firefighters came across a new danger while battling a South Carolina house fire — about a dozen venomous snakes. Local media outlets report the James Island homeowner, who workers in nuisance wildlife removal, told fire crews Tuesday to be aware of up to 80 reptiles in the home's garage. Officials say about a dozen of the reptiles were poisonous snakes. Firefighters had the blaze under control within an hour, but they couldn't enter the home while deadly snakes were potentially on the loose.

A spindly spider took on a brown snake and won in an Australian bush battle of deadly animals. Farmer Patrick Lees, from Weethalle about 400 kilometres west of Sydney, said he found the spindly-looking 'daddy-long-legs' spider with the snake on Saturday. We've all heard of oddball fishing techniques or crazy fishing stories, but this has to be one of the craziest. A fisherman uses a snake to his advantage in this fishing video. It’s hard to tell exactly what the fisherman was trying to accomplish. My guess is that he was fishing, caught a snake, and while the snake was hooked it bit a fish. What are the odds of that? But Christin Bjugan, an owner of A to Z pet store, said video surveillance has helped viewers and police detectives identify a suspect, and she expects to have the snake returned soon. “We know who did it,” she said Monday. “We know where he lives, we know where he works, we know all about him and his girlfriend. I’ve always been fascinated with snakes. I will admit that as a youth they absolutely terrified me. While I ran around catching lots of lizards and frogs, whenever I bumped into a snake, I did less catching and more running.
