It is important to recall that silence is a necessary condition for deep, contemplative prayer, and an important component of the liturgy. In an essay published in Italian in L'Osservatore Romano on January 30, 2016, Cardinal Robert Sarah, Prefect of the Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments, discusses the meaning of silence in the Roman liturgy. The following English translation was prepared from the original, unabridged French text. Many Catholics rightly complain about the absence of silence in some forms of the celebration of our Roman liturgy. It seemed to us important, therefore, in this short...

Liturgy is About God! A Soulful Reminder from Cardinal Sarah Msgr. Charles Pope • April 5, 2016 • Cardinal Sarah, in his book-length interview with Nicolas Diet, God or Nothing, has many good observations on the Sacred Liturgy. His remarks should cause all of us to think as well as to repent. His fundamental insights are that the Sacred Liturgy is about the adoration and worship of God, and that it is our hearts that God seeks.I will present a few quotes from the good Cardinal in bold, black italics while my meager commentary is in plain, blue text.Cardinal Sarah...

At a rally for Donald Trump, Sarah Palin bashed the protesters who have been interrupting Trump's campaign events."What we don't have time for is all that petty, punk-a** little thuggery stuff that's been going on with these "protesters" who are doing nothing but wasting your time and trying to take away your First Amendment rights, your rights to assemble peacefully," Palin said. "And the media, being on the thugs' side. What the heck are you guys thinking, media? It doesn't make sense. Well, you all get it."

The former governor of Alaska spent about an hour mingling with the crowd, signing autographs and posing for photographs. Palin said she's an unequivocal supporter of Trump, who leads polls ahead of Tuesday’s Republican presidential primary. "I like him because he's an outsider. He’s not part of the problem," she said. . . . Parke said Palin was very engaging. "It was just like talking to a neighbor. She asked my great-grandchildren their names and ages and a little about them," she said.

In an epic battle of former governors who also fell a few percentage points short of the White House, former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin responded to former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney‘s feature-length attack on Donald Trump in true Palin fashion: with a Facebook post. Palin, who endorsed Trump in January in spectacular fashion, warned Trump not to “take the bait”: The “machine’s” deception and nonsensical attack on Trump isn’t really an attack on the candidate, it’s an attack on conscientious, hardworking, patriotic Americans who know we need a revolution to stop the complicit politicians who are fundamentally transforming America. We...

Has weird title. Great video of Palin talking about Cruz and the shutdown of the government over the (UN)affordable healthcare act. This video is worth watching.

Our subject here is an important and inspiring book published earlier this year, God or Nothing. It resembles The Ratzinger Report, a record of conversations between a journalist and Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI when the latter was still Prefect of the Congregation for the Faith. God or Nothing records conversations between a journalist, Nicholas Diat, and Robert Cardinal Sarah, for twenty-three years the Archbishop of Conakry, Guinea, and since November, 2014, a member of the Curia in Rome as Prefect of the Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments. Context, including some history, is needed for understanding...

An unexpected side effect of Pope Francis’ trip to United States came out when the news broke that he had secretly met Kim Davis in Washington. Kim Davis is the Kentucky county employee jailed in the last month because she not only practiced the conscientious objection by refusing to issue marriage licenses for same-sex marriages, she also forbade her staff from issuing them. The several interpretations – and over interpretations – that followed the news of the meeting show a general concern about Pope Francis’ pontificate. It has been depicted as a revolutionary pontificate, but how does this image square...

Bristol Palin knocks it out of the park in her faith-base, pro-American blog: I know not all law enforcement is ethically correct (we have crooks everywhere), but I cannot even imagine how much more ‘protocols’ they will have to follow during an investigation of anyone who isn’t white. Not everything is race based and most police, and law enforcement in general, are just trying to do their jobs. Let them do their jobs, and stop looking for reasons to cause riots.

Sarah Palin appeared on CNN this morning and defended Donald Trump after his less-than-stellar interview with Hugh Hewitt.Trump’s foreign policy-focused interview was pretty widely panned for The Donald’s loose grasp on the issues. On State of the Union this morning, Tapper asked Palin if she thought Trump got “gotcha” questions.Palin said, “I’d rather have a president who is tough and puts America first than can win a game of Trivial Pursuit.”She added that the public doesn’t “give a flying flip” which specific leaders are overseeing specific regions anyway. Palin suggested a good metric to judge candidates by might be...

Governor Sarah Palin joined Jake Tapper on CNN’s ‘State Of The Union" to discuss a wide range of issues.

Palin was asked about President Obama’s recent visit to Alaska and his controversial decision to rename Mount McKinley to Denali. She took the position that the name change was unnecessary, as the peak was already within the bounds of Denali National Park. Palin noted that within her own family she has two nieces, one named McKinley and the other named Denali, that represented the split in opinion among Alaskans on the proper name for America’s tallest mountain. She was critical of Obama wasting his efforts on a name change, while "our economy still sucks", suggesting the president should be focused on more pressing issues.

WASHINGTON (CNN) —Sarah Palin knows the position she wants in a Donald Trump administration: Energy secretary. "I think a lot about the Department of Energy, because energy is my baby: oil and gas and minerals, those things that God has dumped on this part of the Earth for mankind's use instead of us relying on unfriendly foreign nations," she told CNN's Jake Tapper in an interview that aired Sunday on "State of the Union." But Palin, the GOP's 2008 vice presidential nominee, might be the first potential cabinet member to openly speak about dissolving their office.

Rupert Murdoch handed over 21st Century Fox, the conglomerate behind Fox News, to sons James and Lachlan July 1, 2015. James is now CEO and Lachlan executive co-chairman. Last year Murdoch elevated his sons to prominent positions, James to co-COO and Lachlan to non-executive co-chairman, but the turnover of the conglomerate came sooner than expected. For 15 years, Roger Ailes has enjoyed near total autonomy as head of Fox News, but Ailes’ sovereign rule ended abruptly with the move. A 21st Century Fox spokesperson told The Hollywood Reporter from now on, “Roger will report to Lachlan and James.” “For Ailes,...
