In 1985, Harold Washington issued an executive order that relaxed federal immigration laws under then-President Ronald Reagan, whose administration “aggressively used [the] detention of Central Americans as a device to deter migration from that region, where violent civil wars had caused tens of thousands to flee,” according to University of California Davis law professor Kevin Davis. Since Aug. 31, 2022, Republican Texas Gov. Greg Abbott has bussed or flown to Chicago nearly 40,000 individuals seeking asylum in an effort to use the welcoming aspects of Washington’s executive order as a political cudgel. On April 14, Mayor Johnson called out the...

On Sunday, NSA leaker Edward Snowden landed in Moscow on a flight from Hong Kong. The United States had asked for Snowden’s extradition, but officials in Hong Kong said the request did not comply with their laws. Snowden will probably not be allowed to stay in Russia, and reports vary on where the fugitive will go next – Cuba, Venezuela, Ecuador, or some other questionable country. The flight from Hong Kong took Washington by surprise, and it is unclear when Snowden will make the next leg of his journey into permanent exile. But the Obama administration might take a lesson...

Those of us of a certain age will remember a time, some 40 years ago now, when President Ronald Reagan advocated the Strategic Defense Initiative, Project High Frontier, and various other related programs, all built around the basic concept that we should have defenses against incoming missile attacks. Throughout all of human history, military preparedness has involved both offensive and defensive elements. An army might have swords and longbows for offense, while being equipped with shields for defense. Cannons and cannonballs made up the offense, fortresses and moats provided a defense. Thus it has been for thousands of years, but...

Acclaimed historian and Ronald Reagan biographer Craig Shirley still hasn't found what he's looking for. Citizens across the United States keep looking, too — for a new leader to draw the curtains on a new "Morning in America." They're getting closer to unraveling the mystery behind the Reagan mystique. "The Search for Reagan: The Appealing Intellectual Conservatism of Ronald Reagan," with a Feb. 13 publication, is Shirley's newest biography of the 40th president of the United States of America.

The New York Times’ bumbling economics writer Paul Krugman continues to beclown himself the more he tries to defend the Bidenomics monstrosity. Krugman took to X (formerly Twitter) to once again downplay the inflation crisis brought on by President Joe Biden’s off-the-rails spending and stimulus policies that helped send price hikes into overdrive. His new excuse? Biden’s inflation battle is similar to President Ronald Reagan’s. “For people who say that Americans care about the level of prices, not the inflation rate, note that cumulative inflation under Biden so far is close to the number under Reagan. Which is why Reagan...

I found this great gem today and I just had to upload this. This is a short clip from ABC's Mid Term Election Preview special on Sunday November 6th 1966. This clip is about Reagan's quest to become Governor of California. At this point, the pollsters expected Reagan to win by 4 or 5 percent, but on Election Day it was not even close. Reagan won by 15% and won all but three counties.

The vandalism last weekend of a sculpture of Republican Party icon Ronald Reagan that’s long greeted passersby of artist Miriam Baker’s home on Balboa Island’s South Bayfront has generated outcry from her neighbors and friends. Baker first learned of the incident from her nephew, who at about 9 a.m. Sunday discovered the artwork, which stands next to some potted geraniums on her front patio, had been defaced by someone using what appeared to have been foam insulation. “It’s incomprehensible that there is a person that nasty around that would do it out of meanness and small mindedness,” said Baker, who...

Many find it shocking the Department of Justice (DOJ) could be capable of ginning up false allegations against a former president in a previous election and would again do the same prior to the 2024 election. This shock, however, is a mark of just how drastically conservatives have failed to recognize the long decline of the DOJ and its ultimate transformation into a political subsidiary of a radicalized Democratic Party. Conservatives would do well to observe seminal moments that have led the country’s top law enforcement entity to its present dire state. In that review, all roads ultimately lead back...

Joe Biden is bringing aboard Elliott Abrams – a regime change-obsessed neoconservative twice convicted of lying to Congress – to act as his new foreign propaganda chief. (snip) While in Ronald Reagan’s admin, Abrams became embroiled in the Iran-Contra affair. President Trump initially blocked Abrams from joining his government as Deputy Secretary of State in 2017, but he was eventually brought in by fellow hawk Mike Pompeo as a special envoy with responsibility for Venezuela.

(Last Updated On: June 8, 2023) NATIONAL PEANUT BUTTER COOKIE DAY | JUNE 12 Baking up some goodness on June 12th each year, National Peanut Butter Cookie Day celebrates the only cookie holiday in June. Editor’s note: To commemorate our fallen heroes, we are taking the day off to be with family and friends. Instead of our usual lineup of editorials, op-eds, and news links, we offer this Memorial Day Proclamation offered by President Ronald Reagan in May 1986. Memorial Day is an occasion of special importance to all Americans, because it is a day sacred to the memory of all those Americans who made the supreme sacrifice for the liberties we enjoy. We will never forget or fail to honor these heroes to whom we owe so much. We honor them best when we...

Welcome to Your Weekend and wow some of the Contemporary Christian Music I enjoyed back in the 1980's my decade of drifting in and out of that style of music. Your host back again looking for the Ultimate Truth pursuing it. I hope no one is offended I sense the need to present a Spiritual Message... In Israel this week a religious member of Parliament confronted by protesters outside his home... Well where do we go from here to take on politics and the forces behind it who brought Glenn Beck down at Fox and have ended up showing Tucker...

The notion that the Southern California Gas Company is seeking to raise rates by 13% borders on gross malfeasance and criminal conspiracy. Yet most of my ire is not directed at SoCalGas but rather toward government institutions like the inept California Public Utilities Commission, the vacuous California governor and much of the Byzantine California State Legislature. Yes … we can all indeed thank the political swamp that is Sacramento for our ever increasing natural gas, energy and fuel prices. Ever the political demagogue, Gov. Gavin Newsom is demanding a federal investigation into high natural gas prices. The “pretty boy” Left...

A Texas politician has claimed that he worked with a senior member of Ronald Reagan's 1980 presidential campaign to convince Iran to delay releasing its hostages during the crisis of 1979 in a bid to derail Jimmy Carter's re-election bid. Ben Barnes, Texas's former lieutenant governor, has claimed in an interview with The New York Times that John Connally Jr – once a governor of the same state and a high-ranking member of Reagan's election team – took him on a secret diplomatic tour of the Middle East as part of a scheme to damage Carter by convincing Iran to...

WASHINGTON — It has been more than four decades, but Ben Barnes said he remembers it vividly. His longtime political mentor invited him on a mission to the Middle East. What Mr. Barnes said he did not realize until later was the real purpose of the mission: to sabotage the re-election campaign of the president of the United States.

President Ronald Reagan's audacious "evil empire" speech will be celebrated on Wednesday, March 8, 2023, in Washington, D.C. — 40 years to the day after the president issued a call to spiritual confrontation against communist doctrine and the Soviet Union. "Reagan brought clarity, moral clarity to the Cold War with the Soviet Union," said Roger Zakheim, Washington director of the Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation and Institute, told Fox News Digital. "It’s a lasting legacy speech." Zakheim’s organization is co-sponsoring a 40th anniversary symposium on March 8 hosted by The Victims of Communism Museum to honor the message of the "evil...

Some people think Tulsi Gabbard would be a great running mate for President Trump in 2024. Some conservatives are appalled by that. Her start was with Bernie Sanders, but in her post-Congress career she has spoken at CPAP, stood in for Tucker Carlson and campaigned for Republicans in the midterms. In recent years she has taken a pro-life position on abortion and always angered liberals with her traditional gender identity views. Her service in military police suggests the skills and personality that might help drain the swamp Her criticism of Biden's warmongering, of cancel culture and of attacks on freedom...

Ronald Reagan, originally an American actor and politician, became the 40th President of the United States serving from 1981 to 1989. His term saw a restoration of prosperity at home, with the goal of achieving “peace through strength” abroad. At the end of his two terms in office, Ronald Reagan viewed with satisfaction the achievements of his innovative program known as the Reagan Revolution, which aimed to reinvigorate the American people and reduce their reliance upon Government. He felt he had fulfilled his campaign pledge of 1980 to restore “the great, confident roar of American progress and growth and optimism.”...

A speech I never knew of until tonight. Just prior to this Reagan had switched away from the Democrats he saw were not to be aligned with if you valued American values. A man ahead of his time.
