Former Orlando mayoral candidate Randy Ross lambasted President Barack Obama’s attempt to blame guns for the Orlando terror attack instead of blaming radical Islam. “While victims were in the hospital, families were grieving, funeral arrangement were being made for the victims, our city mourning, [Obama] turned the conversation into one of gun control” said Ross, a gay speaker who was speaking at Donald Trump’s Aug. 11 rally in Kissimmee, Florida. According to the Advocate, Ross said Obama’s speech wrongly switched the emphasis from the threat of radical Islam to a plea for more gun control for law-abiding citizens.

<p>A man with an AK-47 who robbed customers at a Waffle House in Texas is on life support after being shot by a customer with a licensed handgun.</p> <p>According to the DeSoto Police Department, Antione Cooper, 26, entered the restaurant in the 1500 block of North Beckley Avenue at 2:30 a.m. Thursday. Patrons at the Waffle House told police Cooper robbed several customers before leaving the restaurant and entering the parking lot.</p>

After a fatal shooting involving gun violence in Minnesota, it wasn't just gun control advocates criticizing the National Rifle Association. Some blowback, surprisingly, was coming from within the organization. It has happened again: another mass shooting. For those of us who have spent a lot of time in places like the Pulse night club, this mass murder is particularly painful. In a culture in which queer people are made to feel grateful for merely being tolerated, gay clubs are spaces where we are celebrated — safe havens that represent the opposite of repression and violence. Connnecticut State Police Maj. William Podgorski, one of the lead investigator in the Sandy Hook shooting investigation, died earlier this week. Podgorski, 49, died on Monday following a brief illness and surgery. The illness was undisclosed ...
