Six prison guards have been stabbed and left with broken bones after being attacked by 20 inmates in a recreational yard. The guards and two of the inmates were hospitalized following the incident.

All prisons in Delaware are on lockdown after one reported a "hostage situation" Wednesday morning, according to officials. Inmates at James T. Vaughn Correctional Center in Smyrna had taken over the building, state lawmaker William Carson told Delaware Public Media.

The footage was recorded at Alcacuz Prison in the north eastern Brazilian city of Natal which is in the midst of a bloody riot as rival gangs attack each other. The bodies of some prisoners have been returned to their loved ones with their heads missing after they were decapitated. JACKSON, Miss. -- Officials say a prison for illegal immigrants in Mississippi was on lockdown after a riot that began on Sunday left one guard dead and at least 19 people injured. A prison riot Wednesday near the troubled Mexican border town of Juarez has left an unconfirmed number of fatalities, news reports said. El Diario de Juarez newspaper reported 17 people were killed, including two federal agents. Ten people were wounded, the newspaper said. San Quentin -- At least nine inmates and two staff members at California's death row were injured during a prison riot in a crowded dining hall, prison officials said Friday.
