  • LIVE THREAD: Ryan vs Nehlen Wisconsin 1st Congressional District Primary 8/09/2016

    08/09/2016 9:50:32 AM PDT · by nikos1121 · 429 replies
1st CD, Republican: Incumbent Paul Ryan, of Janesville, and Paul Nehlen, of Williams Bay. I absolutely have nothing on this election, so I thought I'd start a thread, and we can add to it as information comes in. Some polls have Ryan way ahead, and a few find it less certain. On the other hand, wasn't this the climate before the Cantor election? He was sitting fat dumb and happy with a big lead in the polls? If I were a betting man, I'd have to put my money on Ryan and by all counts, he's a very popular guy...

Feel the McMullinmentum. The big noise on tout les 'Toobz Monday morning was that this guy, Evan McMullin, a career spook who lives in Utah, announced that he would be running for president specifically as an anti-He, Trump candidate. This came at the same time as He, Trump was preparing to reset his campaign for the 400th time, this time before the Detroit Economic Club, selling out every sucker who thought of him even for a moment as a "populist," as we will see later in the day. Anyway, McMullin got some nice run on the morning cable news shows....

As a retired veteran and leader who has borne the responsibility of implementing our nation’s military policies and actions, I am acutely aware of the many ways that both the Executive and Legislative branches’ failures of leadership have weakened America. The executive and legislative branches have failed as well as in the making and passing of sound foreign policy for our nation. There can be no question that these failures adversely impact the solemn responsibility we take on to protect and preserve our county. These failures of action and inaction can, and have, lead to unnecessary national security risks. It...

(Paul Nehlen) – Our campaign was all over the news again yesterday, including Paul Ryan coming out swinging while the media hit us with one negative story after another. We must be doing something right! With three days to go before we “term limit” Congressman Ryan, I wanted to take some time with you to address three of those negative stories and set the record straight… About The Trump Endorsement: Bottom Line: In endorsing Mr. Ryan on Friday night during his speech in Green Bay, Mr. Trump proved he’s the leader we need to unite the Republican Party and win...
  • Could House Speaker Paul Ryan Follow Eric Cantor Into Political Oblivion?

A dark horse who appeared out of the Wisconsin woodwork, businessman Paul Nehlen, was reportedly neck-and-neck with House Speaker Paul Ryan (shown) in the primary polls taken in early July. Pundits pooh-poohed those polls as being unreliable, but Ryan has since adjusted his primary campaign strategy to keep the public from asking him “unscripted” questions, queries that Nehlen keeps raising. Ryan doesn’t want to become another Eric Cantor, the former House Majority Leader who lost to a nobody in 2014. Nehlen suddenly became a national figure and symbol of the country’s populist uprising on Tuesday when Donald Trump turned Ryan’s...

(Snip) Party officials are nominally neutral in primaries, but Nehlen said the Wisconsin GOP has been anything but. The Nehlen campaign reports getting rebuffed in efforts to put signs and campaign materials in county GOP offices and having a presence at party events. He said pro-Nehlen comments have been removed from Republican Party Facebook pages. “It’s ridiculous, because people are going to these party tents, to these Republican victory offices, and my materials aren’t there,” Nehlen told LifeZette. The onetime Ryan supporter said the speaker has betrayed his southeastern Wisconsin district on issues like immigration and trade. “The system is...

Paul Ryan’s populist nationalist primary challenger in Wisconsin is taking the gloves off. As Donald Trump declines to endorse Ryan in his primary bid against Nehlen—citing the need for “strong leadership”—Nehlen is using the opportunity to spell out in no uncertain terms what his race against Ryan is really all about. Nehlen held a press conference Wednesday blasting Ryan’s “betrayal” of Trump. Ryan has consistently sought to undermine Trump by criticizing him in the press. The Republican National Committee is reportedly unhappy that Trump is not lining up to endorse Ryan or John McCain against his Arizona primary challenger Kelli...

House Speaker Paul D. Ryan (R-Wis.) sent an urgent fundraising appeal Thursday evening that warned: “If we fail to protect our majority in Congress, we could be handing President Hillary Clinton a blank check.” Whether or not it was intentional, the phrase “blank check” has a political echo — one that suggests a deep fear by congressional Republicans that a sinking presidential candidate could take their majorities in the House and Senate with him, and that they are getting ready to desert him. It goes back 20 years, to an infamous chapter in internecine Republican politics. In the weeks before...

JANESVILLE, Wisconsin — “Never Trump” movement leader Bill Kristol of the Weekly Standard seemingly accidentally let the cat out of the bag about House Speaker Paul Ryan: Kristol says Ryan is secretly working against Donald Trump, the Republican nominee for president. “Trump is corrupting everyone who has supported him, or who is working for him, and even is accommodating or rationalizing,” Kristol said in an interview with MSNBC’s Andrea Mitchell on Thursday, one his own publication the Weekly Standard promoted online. During the interview, Kristol incredibly claimed that Indiana Gov. Mike Pence—Donald Trump’s running mate, the vice presidential nominee—does not...
  • Wisconsin Media Refusing to Report on Law Enforcement Concerns with Paul Ryan on Immigration

JANESVILLE, Wisconsin — Two local newspapers here in Wisconsin’s first congressional district are refusing to report news relevant to their readers when it comes to federal law enforcement criticism of House Speaker Paul Ryan. The tactic—shunning any information that is unfavorable to their preferred candidate in an election, in this case Ryan over businessman Paul Nehlen in the GOP primary this coming Tuesday—is one of the worst examples of media bias. Specifically, as the Washington Examiner’s Paul Bedard reported on Thursday, federal immigration officers are upset with Ryan’s handling of immigration matters. National ICE Council president Chris Crane wrote to...

If House Speaker Paul Ryan’s own Facebook page is any indication of how well he will fare in next Tuesday’s all-important primary race against upstart challenger Paul Nehlen, it might not be smooth sailing for the 16-year incumbent come Election Day. In fact, Ryan’s campaign is showing signs of “melting down,” at least if social media is to be taken as a barometer. The level of antipathy toward Ryan on his two Facebook sites has been heating up in recent days as the election draws closer. “There’s such a deluge of comments negative to Paul Ryan on Ryan’s own Facebook...

On Tuesday, August 9, there’s a primary for the seat held by Paul Ryan, the House Speaker. It’s in the news — Ryan is being challenged in the Republican primary by a hitherto little-known businessman, Paul Nehlen. There’s also a contested primary on the Democratic side. On Tuesday, Donald Trump pointedly refused to endorse Ryan, which doesn’t necessarily reflect any Ryan weakness in the district (more like Trump and Ryan’s irreconcilable differences.) But Ryan was vulnerable before, and he’s more vulnerable now. That’s where Wisconsin Democrats come in: Wisconsin’s open primary tradition means you can vote in Ryan’s primary —...

JANESVILLE, WI — Coming on the heels of her pivotal endorsement that helped propel Donald Trump to becoming the Republican nominee, conservative icon Phyllis Schlafly is once again entering the 2016 electoral fray. After ending the presidential ambitions of Sen. Marco Rubio, the living legend now has her 91-year-old sights set on the highly controversial House Speaker Paul Ryan, who leads America’s globalist political sect and is nominally a member of the Republican Party. Ryan has faced a spirited challenge in his August 9th open primary election from Wisconsin businessman Paul Nehlen. Nehlen has managed to significantly close the gap...

As Donald Trump holds off endorsing House Speaker Paul D. Ryan in Wisconsin's Republican primary, his running mate enthusiastically endorsed Ryan on Wednesday, calling him a “longtime friend” and “strong conservative leader.” “I strongly support Paul Ryan, strongly endorse his reelection,” Indiana Gov. Mike Pence said during an interview on Fox News on Wednesday afternoon. “I believe we need Paul Ryan in leadership in the Congress of the United States to rebuild our military, to strengthen our economy and to ensure that we have the kind of leadership in this country that will make America great again.” Trump has angered...

Following GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump’s praise of House Speaker Paul Ryan’s primary opponent, the Wisconsin Republican confirmed he never sought the billionaire’s help in retaining his seat. Trump told The Washington Post he refused to endorse Ryan or Arizona Sen. John McCain in their re-election bids. “Neither Speaker Ryan nor anyone on his team has ever asked for Donald Trump’s endorsement. And we are confident in a victory next week regardless,” Zack Roday, a Ryan campaign spokesman, said in a statement...

Paul Nehlen is just one of hundreds of candidates running for a seat in the U.S. House of Representatives this year, but the businessman and inventor is running as if he’s in a national race. In a way, he is. His Republican primary opponent, after all, is House Speaker Paul Ryan. And with the election scheduled for Aug. 9, national attention is intensifying as the campaign comes down to the wire. “It’s absolutely a national campaign,” Nehlen told WND. “Paul Ryan opposes 92 percent of the GOP electorate on immigration and seven out of 10 voters on the Muslim refugee...
