Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem Character Studies From The Bible John The Gospels) (Acts 4) 4 The priests and the captain of the temple guard and the Sadducees came up to Peter and John while they were speaking to the people. 2 They were greatly disturbed because the apostles were teaching the people, proclaiming in Jesus the resurrection of the dead. 3 They seized Peter and John and, because it was evening, they put them in jail until the next day. 4 But many who heard the message believed; so the number of men who believed grew to about five thousand. 5 The...

And with Sweet Sleep Mine Eyelids - A Meditation on a Beautiful Hymn of the Night Msgr. Charles Pope • July 25, 2016 • One of the great night prayer hymns, “All Praise to Thee My God This Night,” appears in numerous hymnals of the English tradition. Sadly, it is not in our current breviary, but I hope that the new one might feature it. It was written by Thomas Ken in 1709 and is most often sung to the beautiful tune of Tallis’ Ordinal, which you can hear in the video below.Ideally, night prayer should include acts of...

Dr. Cynthia Hale, who offered the opening prayer, is senior pastor of Ray of Hope Christian Church in Atlanta. Shes not just some Democrat political hack who was told to go up there and go through the motions of doing a prayer so they could say they did it. And my discernment tells me that she was trying to be sincere, although I note two things:
