Police in High Point say a 3-year-old child has been killed in the home by the family's pet pit bull terrier. Authorities say High Point police officers were called Monday afternoon about a child bitten by a pit bull terrier. A family member rushed the child to High Point Regional Hospital.

April Hancock said she was watching out a window Wednesday evening as her son, Wyatt Abraham, was playing soccer in a neighbor's yard and the dog snapped its chain. The dog's owner wrestled the animal off, but released it as Wyatt began to run away, and the dog attacked again, Hancock said. A Brooklyn father is accused of killing his one-year-old daughter, dismembering her, and feeding her to the family’s pit bull. Serenity Brown vanished in 2006. A Valencia County woman was killed by a pit bull on Friday afternoon. The incident occurred at approximately 4:30 p.m. at the woman's home off Crawford Road in Jarales, just south of Belen.
