The Montreal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is considering ending its animal shelter service contracts with the 12 Montreal boroughs it now serves if Montreal goes ahead with its plan to outlaw the acquisition of pit bull dogs and pit bull mixes, a lawyer with the Montreal SPCA said Wednesday.

JEFFERSON COUNTY, Colo. -- A woman was killed and her son was injured after they were attacked by two dogs on Monday night ... in the Conifer area. The sheriff's office said two suspected terrier-pit bull mix dogs were involved in the attack... Investigators said they received a call from the son about 7 p.m. saying he and his mother had been attacked. GREENVILLE, NC...The dog was in a fenced in backyard at 303 Cadillac Street and pushed his way out of the gate, according to GPD spokeswoman Kristen Hunter. Hunter says the gate was only secured by a cement block and that the dog made its way to the neighbor's front yard where it ended up biting the child's leg. The police spokeswoman says the child had a "pretty significant" injury. The owner of the dog, Tobisha Willoughby, was charged with a leash law violation, as well as given a rabies vaccination notice.

Geneke Antonio Lyons, 41, was charged with second-degree murder, manslaughter, and possessing dangerous animals causing death, according to the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office. A 9-year-old girl died Sunday after a pit bull attacked her while she played with friends in a Long Island backyard, authorities said. Nassau County police officers responded to a 911 call at a Holland Avenue house in Elmont at around 10:30 a.m. and found the dog attacking the girl. A 5-year-old boy has been mauled to death by two dogs at the home of a family friend in Southeast Texas. The Orange County Sheriff's Office said in a statement that the dogs attacked Tanner Smith on Sunday evening at the home in Vidor (VY'-dur). Tanner was taken to a hospital in Beaumont where he died. Authorities say the boy and his mother were visiting a friend. The mother thought her friend's father was outside watching the boy. When the woman learned the father was not at home she went outside and found her injured son.

A little boy just two days shy of his sixth birthday was killed after he was attacked by two dogs and mauled to death in Texas, officials said. Tanner Smith, a kindergartener who would have turned six on Tuesday, was severely bitten numerous times by two pit bulls around 7 p.m. Sunday while the boy was at a family friend’s Vidor home, the Orange County Sheriff's Department told INSIDE EDITION.
