Geneke Antonio Lyons, 41, was charged with second-degree murder, manslaughter, and possessing dangerous animals causing death, according to the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office. A 9-year-old girl died Sunday after a pit bull attacked her while she played with friends in a Long Island backyard, authorities said. Nassau County police officers responded to a 911 call at a Holland Avenue house in Elmont at around 10:30 a.m. and found the dog attacking the girl. A 5-year-old boy has been mauled to death by two dogs at the home of a family friend in Southeast Texas. The Orange County Sheriff's Office said in a statement that the dogs attacked Tanner Smith on Sunday evening at the home in Vidor (VY'-dur). Tanner was taken to a hospital in Beaumont where he died. Authorities say the boy and his mother were visiting a friend. The mother thought her friend's father was outside watching the boy. When the woman learned the father was not at home she went outside and found her injured son.

I know some on FR have a bias against Pit Bulls, but they are the nicest animals on Earth, IMO. Also I will probably get banned for stating this, but the crazy liberal Huffington Post should be congratulated for their advocacy of pit bulls. I am a Trump/Cruz leaning conservative, but don't understand the hatred against this breed.

Pit bull with weight attached tied to mangrove, repeatedly dunked in deep water at Florida beach. Witnesses say they recorded video of a man attaching a 20-pound weight to a pit bull puppy then tying it to a mangrove in deep water and repeatedly dunking its head, according to WPTV. Mayda Tress told the TV station she was at Critter Beach in Tequesta with her granddaughter on Friday when she noticed what a man and teenage boy were doing to the puppy.
