A woman found a badly injured lion in the forest. She took it with her and nursed it back to health. When it was better, she made arrangements with a zoo to take the lion and give it a new and happy home. This video was taken when she returned to the zoo some time later to see how her lion was doing. Watch the lion's amazing reaction when he sees her!

Pulling off a good prank is easy: You just find people’s worst nightmare and then shove it in their faces so you and your friends can have a bit of a laugh. Veteran prankster SA Wardega from Poland proved he has perfected the art when he dressed a little dog up to look like an oversized spider and let it lose on the general public. People scream seeing the pooch standing over a ‘dead body’ in a lift, but our hearts really go out to the poor guy who, when trying to escape the abomination, gets caught in a giant...

The albino monocled cobra had been on the loose since at least Monday evening, when it confronted a dog in Thousand Oaks. The veterinarian who treated the animal said it appeared that the dog wasn’t bitten but was hurt while evading the snake. The cobra apparently escaped from captivity, although authorities have not found the owner. Los Angeles County spokesman Brandon Dowling said investigators were following leads on where the snake came from. ... On Friday, zoo staffers released a video showing a handler using the same tonglike tool to remove the snake from a narrow wooden box that resembles...

Being chased by a giant mutant spider is enough to send most people into a fit of terror. So it's not surprising that this pooch caused quite a stir when she was let loose disguised as a terrifying eight-legged beast. Chica the DogSpider is the work of Polish prankster Sylwester Wardega, who dressed up his pooch in the fur-covered costume before releasing her on an unsuspecting public. A hilarious video, which has had more than three million views on YouTube in just one day, shows the hairy creature lurking behind doorways, ready to pounce on its victims.

The search for a rare white snake slithering through Thousand Oaks continued Wednesday, two days after the venomous and potentially lethal reptile bit a dog. Animal control officers spent the morning and late afternoon hunting for the monocled albino cobra, which was last seen in a yard in the 1300 block of Rancho Lane in the southern Ventura County suburb. “It’s a little unnerving,” said Thousand Oaks resident Arianne Deeder, 39, who lives in the neighborhood. “I’m keeping an eye out.” Deeder has chickens in a back yard coup and fish in a pond, along with a dog and a...

More rhinos were killed by poachers last year in Africa than ever before. In 2014 the dubious record looks set to be broken again. The black market price for rhino horn is now considerably higher than cocaine. Poachers from Mozambique's poorest villages sneak into South Africa, heavily armed under the cover of darkness. They are here to hunt rhinos. The money they make from just one rhino horn is enough to feed their families for months. It’s a payoff worth risking their lives for. Between 1990 and 2007 poachers killed on average 14 rhinos a year in South Africa. Last...

Scientists discovered two new species of sea-dwelling, mushroom-shaped organisms, according to a study published September 3, 2014 in the open-access journal PLOS ONE by Jean Just from University of Copenhagen, Denmark, and colleagues. Scientists classify organisms based on shared characteristics using a taxonomic rank, including kingdom, phylum, and species. In 1986, the authors of this study collected organisms at 400 and 1000 meters deep on the south-east Australian continental slope and only just recently isolated two types of mushroom-shaped organisms that they couldn't classify into an existing phylum. The new organisms are multicellular and mostly non-symmetrical, with a dense layer...

Kabul - Cornered against a wall and with a steel hook pushed around his neck, the dog emits a savage howl in a desperate attempt to fight free, but poison will soon be forced into his mouth as Kabul's cull of strays claims another kill. About 17 600 dogs were poisoned last year by municipal workers in the Afghan capital in an effort to protect residents from disease and to control the rocketing population of canines that roam the city's streets and open ground. The method of killing is brutally effective. Teams of dog-catchers wearing orange suits use long steel...
