A whistleblower is making some of the same complaints against the Obama administration over its record of providing congressionally mandated payouts to nuclear workers as Barack Obama did about the George W. Bush administration's. Obama, when he was a senator in the middle of his White House bid, admonished the Bush Labor Department over complaints of bureaucratic bungling and intentional efforts to deny or drag out payouts to workers who lost their health building the nation's Cold War nuclear arsenal. [snip] Obama went on to say in the interview that he found it "deeply troubling" that the Bush administration would...

Ohio has long been seen as a battleground state, up for grabs in most Presidential elections. ..... In years when Republicans won, the Mahoning Valley still voted for the Democrats, but with less enthusiasm. Not this time. In the 2016 primaries, a number of Mahoning Valley Democrats changed their party affiliation to vote for Donald J. Trump. Last year’s big shift came from people who had sat out the past few elections but showed up to vote this year. In November, Hillary Clinton won Mahoning County but received less than 50% of the vote. She actually lost in neighboring Trumbull...

The rift within the Democratic Party was on full display at the California Democratic Party Convention on May 19 in Sacramento, California. Progressives joined members of National Nurses United, protesting the Democratic Party establishment’s refusal to support single payer healthcare system. Rather than follow through with Democratic rhetoric that healthcare is a human right, establishment Democrats have responded to voters by scolding and attacking them.

'There's a huge disconnect here'! Democratic National Committee Chairman Tom Perez says all Democrats should line up in favor of abortion, and he calls the position “not negotiable,” a clarification for which pro-life groups are exceedingly grateful. The issue arose after Perez publicly backed the pro-life Democratic Party nominee in the race for mayor of Omaha, Nebraska. After criticism from pro-choice forces, Perez released a statement insisting he and the party were not straying from their stance on abortion. “Every Democrat, like every American, should support a woman’s right to make her own choices about her body and her health,”...

The Democratic Party charade on abortion is finally over.Newly-elected Democratic National Committee Chairman Tom Perez has declared that every Democrat must be 100% pro-abortion. And according to an official statement: “that is not negotiable.”What does this mean?Tolerance, diversity, and ‘choice’ be damned. Every Democrat must now support the party platform which includes abortion on demand, for any reason, during any month of pregnancy, up to and including partial-birth abortion. And of course, taxpayers must pay for it.The game is up: Fall in line, or get out.The Democratic Party has told Catholics who believe in the sanctity of life that...

Over the past few days, Sen. Bernie Sanders and Democratic National Committee Chair Tom Perez have faced criticism for endorsing anti-abortion lawmaker Heath Mello and for suggesting that Democratic legislators don't all need to hold pro-choice views in order to be embraced by their party. And it looks like the backlash from (mostly) women made Perez and Sanders backtrack on reproductive rights being negotiable. On Friday, Perez insisted that all Democratic lawmakers should support pro-choice legislation, and on Saturday, Sanders was joined by Planned Parenthood President Cecile Richards at a rally in Las Vegas to discuss reproductive rights. Last week,...

We went through a lengthy period where the former chair of the DNC, Debbie Wasserman-Schultz, provided nearly endless amusement with her frequently unhinged antics. It made for some great television and she provided a convenient foil for Republicans who wanted to demonstrate the unserious nature of some Democratic positions. After the brief, but embarrassing tenure of disgraced interim chair Donna Brazile, I’m sure that the Democrats were hoping for some significantly more “stable” leadership under Tom Perez. That really doesn’t seem to be working out, though. In the latest of his many odd statements, the new boss let all of...

I was always a big Bernie Sanders fan. In the darkest days of the Bush administration, he was a big deal. I still remember in 2006 when he won his U.S. Senate seat and thinking it was just the beginning; democratic-socialism was finally blowing up the way it should and that he was a legend in the making. Last year I learned some things that made me question why I always loved Bernie Sanders. He was playing dumb about knowing or helping up-and-coming populist Democrats such as himself, and was instead letting the DSCC and the Obama administration pick safe,...

Heck? Darned? Tom Perez doesn’t work blue on cable TV, especially in the early hours, apparently. “I’d rather be Jon Ossoff right now than Karen Handel,” the DNC chair told Morning Joe earlier today after $8.3 million and a fractured Republican field failed to keep their special-election candidate from a runoff in June. “He’s already at 49% of the vote, and there’s a heck of a lot of energy out there,” Perez bragged after Joe Scarborough questioned the strategy of Democrats in investing heavily in TV spots. Perez pledged full Democratic Party support, saying that they had a “darned good...

The mainstream media is obsessed with how Trump is changing the GOP. But the real transformation in American politics is happening in the Democratic Party. This week, newly minted Democratic National Committee Chairman Tom Perez will travel cross-country with Sen. Bernie Sanders and Rep. Keith Ellison on a Democratic Party “unity tour” that will take them to Maine, Kentucky, Florida, Texas, Nebraska, Utah, Arizona, and Nevada—mostly red states that Trump won. The purpose of their road trip, dubbed the “Come Together And Fight Back Tour,” is to shore up a badly fractured Democratic Party and present some semblance of a...

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) and Democratic National Committee Chairman Tom Perez are the leading Democratic power couple in 2017, joining together in a multistate unity tour aiming to end the one-party rule of Trump Republicans in the House and Senate and White House. The Sanders-Perez unity tour began this week in Maine and is lifting party spirits through Florida, Nevada, Arizona, Montana, Kentucky, Utah and Nebraska. As The Hill recently reported, Planned Parenthood President Cecile Richards will join the Sanders-Perez tour to offer a rousing reply to the latest GOP war on women through its all-out attack against an organization...

New Democratic National Committee Chair Tom Perez picked up where his profanity-laced tirade left off last month at the DNC’s “Come Together Fight Back” tour in Portland, Maine Monday. Perez again went on a rant against Republicans, slamming their new “sh**ty” budget" and dismissing their health care plan, insisting the GOP "does not give a sh*t about the people they are trying to hurt."His appearance was doomed from the start, judging by the reaction he got during the introductions. The leader of the Maine Young Democrats opened the rally by asking the audience who or what brought them out. When she mentioned Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders, the...

Obama’s White House political director is informally providing strategic advice to leaders at the Democratic National Committee (DNC). David Simas, who is now CEO of the Obama Foundation, is close with DNC Chairman Tom Perez and has been in regular contact with Sam Cornale, a top adviser to Perez. A source who has been involved in the transition said Simas has provided strategic advice on hiring decisions. The new chairman has asked for resignation letters from most DNC staff as he begins the process of building his own team, although so far the DNC has only unveiled its communications team....

No Mr. Perez, we don’t share your “values”, and we never will “Republicans don’t give a s**t” about you” – DNC Chairman Tom Perez, addressing attendees at a rally Is this what public discourse has come to? The head of one of the two major parties uses potty mouthed language in public…and then goes on to say he doesn’t care what people think about what he said.

Tom Perez suggests Trump 'didn't win this election' Newly elected Democratic National Committee chairman Tom Perez said Friday that Republicans "don't give a shit about people," arguing their plan to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act does not reflect American values. Perez gave a fiery speech to gain Democratic support at the We Build the Resistance Rally in Newark, New Jersey, hosted by the New Jersey Working Families Alliance, where he denounced President Donald Trump's efforts to repeal Obamacare. "It does not reflect our values as a nation," Perez said of Republican efforts to repeal former President Obama's landmark...

The bungling of the AHA by the GOP has emboldened DNC chair Tom Perez, who thinks their "resistance" had something to do with its defeat. In a speech Friday before the New Jersey Working Families Alliance, Perez took credit for defeating "Trumpcare" and went on a profanity-laced tirade about Republicans:"Donald Trump, that romance you have with Putin, it's not gonna do you any good, because we will resist. One week ago we did, and we did so successfully.Donald Trump wants his name around everything... but when it came to healthcare, he didn't want Trumpcare. So what do we call it? Trumpcare.... I'll tell...

Video at link. New Democratic National Committee Chairman Tom Perez on Friday night said President Trump “didn’t win the election” and suggested his Republican Party doesn’t care about voters. The comments by Perez, Labor secretary under President Obama, appear to leave little doubt about the direction in which he will try to take the struggling committee. “Donald Trump, you don’t stand for our values. You didn’t win this election,” Perez said at the rally hosted by the New Jersey Working Families Alliance, according to a video posted by The Daily Caller.

All Democratic National Committee staffers have been asked to submit their resignations amidst party turmoil, according to a new report. Narrowly elected DNC Chairman Tom Perez assumed the post in late February. Immediately after his election, staff were asked to submit their resignations by April 15, according to NBC News. The report cited “multiple sources familiar with the party’s internal working” when it stated that Leah Daughtry, an adviser to disgraced outgoing chair Donna Brazile, made the request. Brazile has now admitted that while working for CNN during the 2016 presidential election she leaked debate questions to then Democratic nominee...
