Obama Faulted the Bush Administration for Failing Nuclear Workers in 2008

A whistleblower is making some of the same complaints against the Obama administration over its record of providing congressionally mandated payouts to nuclear workers as Barack Obama did about the George W. Bush administration's.

Obama, when he was a senator in the middle of his White House bid, admonished the Bush Labor Department over complaints of bureaucratic bungling and intentional efforts to deny or drag out payouts to workers who lost their health building the nation's Cold War nuclear arsenal.

These people should be properly compensated, along with the early folks from NASA that brought us the space race.

The amazing things a learned and realized while decommissioning those early nuclear research reactors left me very, very humbled at what those men risked for our nation.

If you have never signed an employment contract that specifies you understand that a particular job will likely shorten your life by an estimated 5 years or more, one doesn’t understand the early space race or cold war.

God Bless them all and all who continue to remediate sites we used when we didn’t understand all the risks.

the problem is any federal compensation of this sort is ripe for abuse. Regardless of who’s in office, i as a tax paying citizen, want to know that the government is doing all it can to cut down on fraud. Pay the deserving retroactively if need be but make sure they are deserving.
