WOW and DOUBLE WOW is the only way I can describe the Patriotic Americans that attended the Walter Reed and Olney FReeps. It’s Saturday afternoon as I started this combined AAR and my heart still pounds with pride over all those who came out, especially to Walter Reed on the evening of the Fourth. Since I’m honored this week to write the Walter Reed AAR and usually write the Olney AAR, I had to combine the two because of their similarities. Several weeks ago a question as to who will be at Walter Reed came up. About 4 or 5...

In the community of Shady Grove Woods, trees are becoming more and more scarce. Residents and other anti-Intercounty Connector activists marched through the neighborhood on Saturday, pointing out the trees that were cut down to make way for the six-lane highway. ‘‘It’s just that we didn’t have a say in it in so many ways and we’re not talking about a two-lane road, we’re talking about a major highway running through here,” resident Sam Chim said of the ICC. ‘‘We have a lot of nice, private woods back here and now we’re going to have a highway running through instead....

The Walter Reed MOAB was honored to be placed over the entrance to a local Olney/Laytonsville, MD., restaurant, Dave's American Bistro, for their day long celebration. Dave's American Bistro is located at 5500 Olney-Laytonsville Road, MD Rte. 108, just down the road from the Olney FReeps. The owner (BELOW LEFT in blue), who disavows any family relation to the "sheehag", Kevin Sheehan, along with his better half, Judy (BELOW RIGHT in yellow/blue stripe), opened the restaurant to all military personal for a day of free food, beer and music. But the idea started when he learned Maryland National guard Units,...

For all you FReepers that read the first 5 lines of a thread to see if you are interested, YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU ARE MISSING UNLESS YOU STOP ON IN ON THE OLNEY FREEP. We are always PICTURE HEAVY (kudos to iMacMan and [Mrs] T) with a good narrative (patting myself on the back) to go along with the pics. Of course BufordP and BMWcyle's reports when [Mrs] T and I are away are also great. Thanks to both. So as not to disappoint those who have stopped by for the first time, iMacMan does a terrific job catching...

Party 2006 – DC Chapter Christmas is the holiday to remember the birth of Jesus..., despite the questionable day chosen. . In the good old USA we use this holiday additionally for friendship and celebrations of those friendships for many weeks prior. In DC on December 9 the FReeper chapter had such a celebration. And what a grand one it was! God provided the good weather for our birthday party for his Son An outstanding day for the FReep in Olney earlier also… FReeper’s Trooprally (Mr.& Mrs) opened their charming home in park-like setting(yes, the deer came also!) and...

The moonbats could not take the heat today. And it was only in the mid-80s. The were packed up and GONE by 4:20 today. During the winter months, they had the sun keeping them a little warmer than our group who were in the shadows of some mature pine trees. Being hardened FReepers from the cold nights at Walter Reed, we stayed at our corner until the moonbats were long gone. But now that it is summer, the leaves on the trees on the grassy knoll immediately behind us keep us in the shade while the sun beats down on...

The antiwar groups are at it again in Olney, Maryland. Olney is 10 miles due north of Washington, DC, on Georgia Avenue, which is the same road where we FReep at Walter Reed and the same road where the Protest Warriors, with help from some FReepers, tangled with protestors at the Silver Spring Recruitment Center back in November. Sounds like we should change the street name, then the antiwar groups would get lost, but I digress. Greater Olney is a small town of 35,000. But it is in the middle of a very liberal Blue State that tries to out...

Thanks to the FReepers/Protest Warriors who made it today to Olney's 2nd. FReep. (See <->http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1552773/posts<-> for first week's AAR and what started our FReep.) WE OUTNUMBERED the PeaceAction group 9 TO 8. Cut/paste PeaceActionMC.org if you want to view their site. These groups are like the gopher game, hit one at one place and another pops up. Honor roll for today were Concretebob (PW), Gate2Wire, GunsareOK, Paltz (PW), Lurker Bill and Lurker Joan (Both locals), [Mr & Mrs] Trooprally, and Local Hasley. Some of the FReepers double as PW and we thank them for coming. Below, GunsareOK, Local Halsey wearing...

On Saturday the 14th a few strong hearty Freepers went to Olney to confront the latest moonbat gathering. The Peace Action group was present with one left over hippy (Bush Hater using some of his limited four letter vocabulary), several Quakers (focused just only one part of scripture, Blessed are the Peacemakers), and one or two DNCers (In Denial they voted for any Clinton). They arrived in their Asian cars with Kerry stickers on their bumpers, posters with pictures of fallen heroes, posters with War is not the Answer (with no other solutions), and two large banners. They number about...

The afternoon started with the arrival a small but determined group from the Walter Reed victory on the Friday night. The group contained Apple Blossom, Lurker Bill, Concretebob, Doctor Raoul, Lurker Joan, gate2wire, Lurker George and his wife Ethel, and bmwcyle. We had a visit by a Vietnam Veteran, who stood on the grassy knoll above the peace-niks. He told them that signs similar to the ones their hands help to kill over 50,000 of his brothers in arms. Also a great mother of a young Marine solder over in Iraq stopped by to show her support. The cars driving...

After several Saturdays away from Olney, we (Mr & Mrs Trooprally) returned to a rousing welcome by having 12 dedicated FReepers, lurkers and family in Olney. The leftists had 15 but we are shaping their agenda. The backboneless leftist scurried (Read 'retreated' as Rep. Murtha likes to say) over to the northeast corner this week and even changed one of their signs after Bmwcyle criticized them about it last week. Photos by Bmwcyle: 3rd. Week on Left - 4th. Week on Right They had enough during the last two weeks of trying to argue their lame reasons for "Peace Now"....

"HOLD MY UMBRELLA" was all I heard from someone behind me. I turned and had the handle of an opened umbrella handed to me and this guy, Bruce, determinedly crossed over to the leftist corner. He spent about 15 minutes over there, engaging each of the four leftist. He came back to our side and thanked us for being there. Lurker Joan & I talked with Bruce for about 15 more minutes. Upon leaving he went over to Justanobody, Lurker Bill and iMacMan and thanked each of them for being there. I have a contact for Bruce and hopefully he'll...

WHAT A WEEK MAKES!!!The call last week for "Boots on the Corner" was heeded by FReepers and locals alike. We had 8 to the moonbats 12. While still out numbered, the volume of the Honor the Troops group created more honks, more thumbs up and more enthusiasm among us. We were more visible on our corner and the passerbys responded most positively. Roll call included, Kristinn (who missed his easy ride to Olney and took the hard way to get there because he said he would be there - Thanks), iMacMan (who is always welcome with his "most excellent" camera),...

Being the author of this Thread gives me certain privileges. So I would like take one and 'Welcome Back' my wife, [Mrs] Trooprally. She has had bronchitis the last several weeks and even though not completely recovered, she wanted to get back into FReeping. She was at the Friday night Walter Reed FReep and then today. [Mrs] Trooprally occasionally had to spend time in our jeep to warm up, but she was there when needed. Also at this Saturday's FReep were Lurker Bill, my self, and iMacMan, who also took the great pictures for this Thread. iMacMan is the FReeper...

This is what the warmer weather brought out in Olney. It seems that as the weather warms up, the fair-weather antiwar protesters start to crawl out from under their electric blankets. This week the grumpies out numbered us 14 to 5, three times our number!!! And I foresee their numbers to grow. We saw two new younger leftists grumpies who were at Olney's September 2005 antiwar rallies. At that time we, [Mr] & [Mrs] Trooprally, were not yet FReepers and we organized the counter rally ourselves from scratch. Back then, they gathered 60 the first week, and 40 the following...

We Got Snow, the wet kind that is no different from rain, it was cold (luckily no wind), and we got coffee. TWICE we got coffee. Soldiers who were in Iraq and saw us on the corner, went to a local coffee shop and bought us coffee. They sincerely Thanked us for standing there. The leftist antiwar group of three saw this. Hopefully it was demoralizing. I also counted only 6 honks for their side. We had several honks every light change and penty of thumbs up. This is really up lifting to our side and again demoralizing for their...

Tradidion declares that this race first run in the year 1445, pancakes at the time being a popular dish and recieving the royal favour. It was run on Shrove Tuesday, the day before Lent, and the whole day was given over to a festival of celebrations and pastimes, which formed a part of the 'last fling' celebrations. (Mardi Gras)One story tells us of a harrassed housewife, hearing the shriving bell, dashing off to the Church still clutching her frying pan containing a pancake. (and the international race was born)Since then Olney has been invaded every Shrove Tuesday by an ever increasing...
