Strange things happen when the Trooprallys are out of town and I have to fill in. I won't go into detail about what happened last time. This time, sure as space aliens crash landed in Rosswell New Mexico back in '47, the Straight Talking Curvaceous Walking Bus was stopped at the traffic light while we were setting up!
If kburi was there you'd see a photo of the "Shake-things-up Express" bus right here |
|
|
But as luck would have it, kburi, who was in charge of taking pictures, was not there!
We had just erected the "Support Our Troops" banner. I saw the bus driver pointing at us enthusiastically. He seemed to be shouting and calling to whoever was in the back of the bus.
Group photo of Palins with the Legionnaires...had kburi been there to take the picture |
|
|
He beeped and waved as he drove through the intersection. We waved back like we do for all the vehicles that pass by. I didn't give it any more thought and we continued to set up. A short moment later I realize this big bus had pulled into the parking lot and parked right behind us. Lo and behold, out steps Gov Sarah Palin, looking like a 150 thousand bucks, with family in tow!
 Some of the Legionnaires |
|
Everybody stops what their doing and goes running over to meet her. I was in front of the rush when all of a sudden I feel an elbow land on top of my head and the next thing I know Lurker Bill's in front of me. So I threw my right leg out kicking Bill's right leg into is own left leg causing him to trip and fall flat on his face into the grass. Still rubbing my head I take off again when Cindy and Halsey zip right past me. Sarah has her right hand out to shake hands with Cindy but Cindy zips right by her and runs straight over to the First Dude of Alaska and says,"HI, TODD!" Embarassing. Halsey gets to Sarah first. Once Sarah saw all these American Legion guys with their fancy jackets, hats, and ribbons the rest of us didn't have a chance. It was like Bill, Frax, Gary and I weren't even there. She only wanted to talk to the Legionnaires. She gave her usual stump speech.
HAHAHAHA! Did you see the look on Buford's face? HAHAHAHA! |
|
"You know the difference between a hockey mom and a pitbull?"
 Halsey and Frank |
|
Before she could answer her own riddle I shouted, "LIPSTICK?" Boy, if looks could kill. I continued. If you win this election are ya gonna get McMaverick to repeal Campaign Finance Reform? What about amnesty for illegal aliens? Taxes on carbon emmissions? And...and...!
 Fraxinus and Gary |
|
Some of the Legionnaires starting walking towards me. Glen says he's going to rip
Luker Bill, me, and Cindy |
|
my ears off. Frank says he's gonna hit me on top of my head so hard it's gonna break both my ankles. Bill, Gary and Frax grabbed me and hustled me halfway down the block.
I know I was out of line. Sometimes I can't help myself. I finally settled down and we headed back to our corner. But when we got back the Palins had gone. That's when kburi finally arrived with his camera...
Some may tell you that I'm pulling your leg because Sarah was in Sioux City that morning. Well, that's my story and I'm sticking to it. Don't forget to vote this Tuesday. Vote Palin 2012.
We had 12 Patriots supporting our troops October 25th. Legionnaires: Glenn (USMC - Iwo Jima), Halsey (USMC - Korea), Frank (Army - Korea), Dennis, Carl, and John Freepers and friends: kburi, myself, Fraxinus, Lurker Bill, Cindy_True_Supporter, and Gary

Mr Trooprally wanted to make sure I included the following boiler plate info at the end of the report.
- EVERY Saturday, same place, Georgia Avenue, MD Rte. 97 and MD Rte. 108 in Olney - 10:15 AM to 11:45 AM
- As always, the D.C. Chapter's rules for protesting will be in effect. Briefly, they are: No violence, no profanity, no racism, no provocations, obey the law and treat all law enforcement officers with respect. But a lot of verbal engagement is always welcome.
- SPEED CAMERAS have been installed on north bound Georgia Avenue right before you enter the main business district. Slow your speed after the light at King William Drive.
- When driving in the dark make sure you turn on your headLIGHTS!
- Always, always, always, and I can't emphasize this enough always, follow Obama's advice and check your tire pressure. We can achieve energy independence just by inflating our tires.
- Don't drink and drive. Wait until after you're done drinking before you go driving.
- For directions to Olney see Post 39 here. It's an easy 20 minute drive from the American Legion Bridge.
- The Archive of Olney FReeps is here or in the LINKS section of Trooprally's ABOUT Page.
- If you can't tell what the weather's like just by going outside, you can check here instead.

Just got back from the Arizona phome bank for McCain. We were calling New Mexico and were getting good results. Don’t know the results of all callers. Got a lot of answer machines sadly.
0bama folks decided to picket right out the door (about 100).
Many news reporters in the phone bank, especially since we are in McCain’s home state.
Never give up, never call retreat!

D.C. Chapter's Chance to
VOTE for BufordP - See bottom of Post.
BufordP - Now this is a GREAT AAR.
And just yesterday, a week late, your were telling me "since Kburi didn't show up on time, I have nothing to write about". (Quotes mine, not Buford's real words)
[Mrs] T and I should leave town more often. In fact, we'll be out of town visiting our Marine son on the Nov. 15th weekend.
Let's take our own vote
D.C. Chapter -
YES ___ NO ___
(ACORN says "NO" votes register as a YES vote)
Seriously, Thanks to BufordP and ALL who showed up to Support Our Troops. [Mr] T

Hockey Mom indeed.
Halsey need to do more than rip your ears off.

We’ll be looking forward to both. It’s always great to welcome a Blue Star Mom and a Marine Vietnam Vet, and their family if they can also make it.

However, they are great pictures.
So I was 5 minutes late, there was a line at starbuck’s - no apologies for that.
And who was it who had to remind you to get the names?
So back at you big guy.
