Warning-Warning Will Robinson, DC Chapter Xmas Party & Olney FReep 152, 12-06-08, Op Infinite Freep
Dec. 10,2008

Posted on 12/10/2008 5:56:25 PM PST by trooprally

Warning - Warning Will Robinson TROOPRALLY, Do not try deep frying a turkey in 30 degree weather!! And don’t leave the turkey outside while it takes 90 minutes for the oil to reach the minimum 325 degree temperature, it will also become super cold, the oil will drop to 50 degrees, never to come back up!!

And so dinner started an hour late. Luckily we had plenty of chaffing dishes keeping all the other food hot and ready.

But before the official D.C. Chapter Christmas Party started, a hearty but cold 8 Patriots FReeped the "Quackers" in Olney. They were Legionnaires Carl, (Army - WWII), Halsey, (USMC - Korea), Dennis (Army - Korea), and Lurkers Bill & Joe, Cindy_True_Supporter, Eeevil Conservative and myself, [Mr] T.

Pics by Eeevil Conservative noted by (EC)

BELOW: Eeevil Conservative looking for a sign. If the bags were any bigger she would have fallen in. Then I’d be in trouble. The cold weather, about 15 degrees below normal for this time of year, took Eeevil by surprise. She borrowed [Mrs] T’s jacket which helped some. No pic was taken of Eeevil jumping up and down trying to stay warm.

BELOW LEFT: Right flank and center banners. Pic by EC BELOW RIGHT: Eeevil Conservative and Joe. Pic by me on EC’s camera. I guess EC wanted her own pics. Maybe I should call this thread a VANITY thread. HeeHee

After a brisk FReep we were ordered to the Olney Compound for some R&R, with hot coffee, a cozy fire and some comradery with fellow Patriots.

As you already know, one of our Special Guests was Eeevil Conservative (Sherri Reese) and her friend, Joe, from Georgia. Eeevil is co-host with David Zublick on America Talks/Blog Talk Radio and a Citizen Journalist for Digital Journal, and the author for the Drill Here, Drill Now series of threads when the conservatives stayed on the House floor this past August.

Other Special Guests were: Doctor Raoul, Exit148 and husband Joe from the Phily area; GunsAreOK from western area of Virginia; Legionnaire Halsey; 2ndClassCitizen’s active duty son-in-law Chris;and part of the Westminster FReep, RockerMom2MyHero, her hero son, Chris, and husband, Anomoly99. And to be honest, any FReeper from Virginia since their ride to the Olney compound is a fairly long one.

In all, we had over 30 Patriots enjoying themselves.

BELOW LEFT: Amomoly99 and me watching the pot, keeping the snow out of the hot peanut oil.. Notice the plywood around pot to help the oil heat up. BELOW RIGHT: Snow on the umbrella.

BELOW LEFT: Jim and TomTheRedhunter over looking the frying operation. IS IT TURKEY YET??? TtR’s very interesting blog is The Redhunter. BELOW RIGHT: Turkey finally in the pot. This turkey was injected with [Mrs] T’s special marinade.

BELOW LEFT: Joe carving one of the turkeys. BELOW RIGHT: Doctor Raoul finishing his last bite of dinner. In back ground, Chris, Jim, BMWcyle, Exit148 and StayTrue (with head turned).

BELOW LEFT: Santa, BufordP, Doctor Raoul (after picking his gift) and Fraxinus. BELOW RIGHT: Me and Santa, with BufordP and Exit148 in chair.

BELOW LEFT: Hellinahandcart, Santa and [Mrs] T. “CAUTION tape was to remind people not to grab or hug her shoulder. BELOW RIGHT: Sauropod, aka "Pod", GunsAreOK and others.

BELOW LEFT: Eeevil, Sensei Ern and BMWcyle in the “smoking room”. BELOW RIGHT: Hellinahandcart, BufrodP and Chris, 2ndClassCitizen’s active duty son-in-law, also in the Smoking Room.

BELOW LEFT: Appleblossom and BMWcyle’s daughter making a cameo appearance. She and Lurker Bill’s daughter spent a lot of time watching videos. BELOW RIGHT: Jonn Lilyea and his wife. She enjoyed helping out with taking pics with [Mrs] T’s camera. Jonn is infamous for his blog, This Aint Hell which, among other things, he writes about FR FReeps with some real good pics.

BELOW LEFT: StayTrue, Jonn, Doctor Raoul, and Lurker Bill’s wife. BELOW RIGHT: Fraxinus, GunsAreOk and Cindy_True_Supporter before the others arrived. A BIG thanks to Cindy_True_Supporter who spent all day Friday and Saturday AM helping [Mrs] T and to Guns for coming early Saturday to also help [Mrs] T.

And a Big Thanks to all those who pitched in to help set up, to wash dishes, mash 15 pounds of potatoes, who braved the cold to FReep in Olney, and other tasks that I’m not aware of.

BELOW LEFT: BufordP’s wife, CeeCee wondering what she’s going to do with an over size pair of Navy sweats, while BufordP and Santa look on, holding back their snickering. BELOW RIGHT: Fraxinus, Halsey and GunsAreOK swapping tall tales.

BELOW: What awaited Freepers as they left the Party.

My apologies to AppleBlossom and RockerMom2MyHero for not getting any good, clear pics of you.

Be sure to visit the link to more pics of the days events.

We celebrate Koala, which is based on Australian aborigine harvest festivals, like the Nazis revived ancient Nordic festivals. So Happy Koala!

Thanks for getting this posted. I really enjoy reading about your adventures, and love the photos.

Looks to me like you had 2 Santas at your party---Doctor Raoul makes a very good looking Santa in his red shirt! Nice also to see the photos of Exit 148--how ya doing, gal?

It times like this that I wish I lived closer to where the action is---

Thanks for all your efforts to keep our troops morale up.

Hey [Mr] T or should I say [Mr] LT (Late Turkey)!

Great report and awesome pictures! Considering you did the WR FReep on Friday and Olney FReep on Saturday before the great Christmas party, I won't pick on you any more about the turkey! Just this one time. That is unless you keep on picking on me! LOL

Not only are you dedicated troop supporters, you throw an awesome party! Thank you for all you do!

Yep - Raoul is a natural. He was asked but said he wanted to just be there and enjoy everyone's company.

YepII - We missed you and others who couldn't make it. We had the space and the food, so everyone needs to make plans for next year.

I fibbed to other day, we did have some pics of Chris. I initially was looking only at the file. But after blowing up the pics for a better look, there he was.

Can’t take credit for the Party. Do matter how you plan, its the people who show up that make it memorable. And the Westminster patriots sure helped.

[Mr] LT, for a while

PS - wasn’t there a famous football player with the nickname “LT”.

I did see some good ones of Chris and the back of my head! I did my job because I am always escaping the camera! Doesn’t bother me.

We were just glad to be part of the great party. Patriots stick together!

LT - Lawrence Taylor of the Giants? I had to look that one up.

Looks like you all had a great time. Sorry I couldn't be there this year.

I so much appreciate how all you keep the vigil at events after all these years. Thank you all for doing it.

Merry Christmas to all.

Yes ma mm, it was a good time, regardless of the problem frying up the turkey.

I’m sure you’ll be in the neighborhood sometime soon. Lots coming up this spring.

It was a lot warmer than at the Navy-Army game, at least in the house. GO NAVY! I'm partial because our Marine nephew went thru the Naval Academy. He recently returned from his third tour in Iraq as a helicopter pilot.

Hope you didn’t get your cold at the Party. Re your health, stay home and get well. Saturday will be clear but very cold. You’re a regular at FReeps so that you don’t have to kill yourself to get to one.
