Voter turnout for Tuesday’s midterm elections may be affected as a potent storm unleashes rain, strong winds and potentially violent thunderstorms from the midwestern to southern United States. According to research, weather influences some voters' response when making a decision to head to the polls. "Weather was found to be, on average, nearly 20 percent of the change in voter turnout based on our analysis," according to AccuWeather Data Scientist and Meteorologist Tim Loftus. "Democrats are more weather sensitive, when compared to Republicans, and among the most weather-sensitive were African-Americans, those 65 and older and 18- to 24-year-olds," he said....

Just saw on RCP that they have change Ohio's Senate seat from Likely Dem to Leaning Dem, which means the polls are trending in favor of the Republican candidate, Jim Renacci. I'm not so optimistic to believe that Renacci will win, but does anyone have information about early voting in Ohio? Is it possible that this seat is in play?

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- There's a saying in Ohio politics that Democrats vote early, while Republicans vote on Election Day. But a cleveland.com analysis of state data suggests that compared to recent comparable elections, Ohio's suburban areas, many of which lean Republican, will represent a larger share of this year's early vote, at the expense of more urban, Democratic areas.

A campaign rally with Vice President Mike Pence in central Ohio on Wednesday included two unlikely voters, farmers Levi Miller and Ben Hostetler, who are part of a determined effort by Trump supporters and the Republican Party to get members of the conservative Amish and Mennonite communities to the polls. Mr. Miller and Mr. Hostetler ordinarily drive horse-drawn buggies, but they got a ride for this event with a volunteer from the group Bikers for Trump, which has been working on outreach to the Amish in Ohio for about two years. “The Amish are doing a lot under the radar,”...

A 44-year-old Mexican woman living in Marion, Ohio, has been sentenced to 54 months in prison for operating what federal prosecutors call “a document mill that produced more than 1,000 false identification documents.” “Law enforcement executed a search warrant at Buendia-Chavarria’s residence in October 2017, where they located numerous false identification documents, five handwritten ledgers containing other peoples’ names, dates of birth and Social Security numbers, and in some cases, who the identity was sold to, according to court documents,” says a statement released by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Ohio.

Neil Young is taking on the National Rifle Association (NRA) and pushing for “common sense gun laws” ahead of the midterm elections, releasing a new video for his 1970 protest song “Ohio.” “’Ohio’ was written back in 1970 after seeing the cover of a magazine with a young girl kneeling beside her fallen friend. When the National Guard murdered four students at Ohio’s Kent State University for protesting the Vietnam War, it was a pivotal moment in our history. It was a pivotal moment for me,” Young wrote of the inspiration behind the Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young song in...

The resignation came one day after Republicans charged that a Pureval campaign volunteer had infiltrated their voter data and fraudulently posed as a volunteer for Rep. Steve Chabot, R-Westwood. The Republicans say such conduct was illegal and have filed an Ohio Elections Commission complaint against the volunteer, Jack Dohrenwend, and the Pureval campaign for the 1st Congressional District seat.

Butler and Warren County Democrats are lagging behind Republicans in early voting, however, the gap between the two primary political parties isn’t as wide as it has been in past elections.Butler and Warren counties are still safe Republican counties, but Democrats appear to be making their voice heard based on early voter turnout. Here’s a look at the partisan turnout in Butler and Warren counties as of Monday: • Four times as many Democrats have voted this year in Butler and Warren counties compared to 2014, the last gubernatorial election. Nearly as many Democrats have turned out for this election...

Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio), who is running for a third term in the Senate, has a six-point edge among likely voters against Rep. Jim Renacci (R-Ohio). About 49 percent of likely voters support the incumbent, while 43 percent support Renacci. About six percent of likely voters say they are undecided. Can there be sweeter words for any pro-life candidate to hear than for a militantly pro-abortion media outlet to call you an “anti-abortion crusader”? Such is the description Mother Jones’s Rosa Furneaux affixed to Mike DeWine, former congressman from Ohio, state Attorney General, and now the Republican candidate for governor. The full headline reads “Pro-Choicers Fear for the Future Should Anti-Abortion Crusader Mike DeWine Become Ohio Governor.” Her lead is music to pro-life ears: Standing at the podium during an Ohio gubernatorial debate last month, Attorney General Mike DeWine raised one hand and looked straight into the TV camera. “I...

Newt Gingrich said Thursday that Rep. Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., has better odds of becoming speaker of the House than the GOP's front-runner Rep. Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif. During an event held by the Washington Post, Gingrich, himself a former speaker of the House, suggested that he thinks the Democrats will take the House. "I think the odds are 2 out of 3 she'll be speaker," he said of Pelosi, who is House minority leader. "And 1 out of 3 Kevin McCarthy will be," he continued. Democrats need to flip two dozens seats in the House during the Nov. 6 midterm elections...

Republican voters in Ohio's hotly contested 1st Congressional District have gotten a head start. The race for the district that covers parts of Hamilton County and all of Warren County has received national attention as key for control of Congress. But if there's going to be a so-called "blue wave" of Democratic support, the early voting numbers don't show it yet. The race pits Rep. Steve Chabot, R-Westwood against Democrat Aftab Pureval. Based on ballots issued by the end of the first week of early voting, signs look favorable for Chabot. The number of Republican absentee ballots issued in the...

Rep. Jim Renacci's Senate campaign issued a news release late Thursday that he said depicted an unnamed woman's story of an "unwanted and sudden advance" from Sen. Sherrod Brown in the late 1980s. The release includes a lengthy statement from Laura Mills, a Canton attorney and former Renacci business partner and political donor. In the statement, Mills says the woman told her friend about the encounter as the MeToo movement unfolded. It occurred while the woman was alone with Brown, who was divorced at the time, through her work, Mills said. The friend then contacted the Renacci campaign, which referred...
