    New York Post ^ | March 7, 2023 | Paul Schwartz
Jones and the Giants on Tuesday grinded out an agreement on a four-year deal worth $160 million, with Jones able to earn an additional $35 million in incentives. Jones is guaranteed $82 million over the first two years of the contract and a total of $94 million is practically guaranteed. His salary cap hit in 2023 should come in around $18.5 million — a much more manageable number than the $32.4 million the franchise tag would have cost the Giants.

The Giants on Tuesday agreed to send Beckham to the Browns for a 2019 first-round draft pick (No. 17 overall), a 2019 third-round pick and safety Jabrill Peppers. The Giants were not actively shopping Beckham but they were listening to offers, and when they found one they liked, they made the deal — no doubt changing the course and direction of their team now and for years to come...

**SNIP** “You hear ‘coward’ and ‘stand up’ and ‘disgrace,’’ Vernon told the New York Post. “It’s fine. As long as nobody comes on the field and touches me. You stay where you at, you’re going to be all right. They have a right. Oh yeah, I hear it all the time.” And then there was the advice: “If they don’t like it, don’t come to the game.’’ And the fact is the fans may be doing exactly that.

New York Giants defensive end Olivier Vernon continued his protest on Thursday night, kneeling during the national anthem before a game against the Washington Redskins. Vernon, who has been kneeling since early on in the NFL season, appeared to be the only player to take a knee before the game. He was one of several NFL players who knelt last week. Prior to last Sunday's game against the Kansas City Chiefs, Vernon told Newsday that he would continue kneeling, even as criticism of the protests continues.

WASHINGTON - The playoff hopes for the Washington Redskins took a big hit Sunday after they lost to the New Orleans Saints and blew a 15-point fourth quarter lead in the process. After the loss, it appears the Redskins fan base is also reeling as well based off of the ticket prices for their next home game on Thanksgiving. The Redskins will have a short turnaround this week as they will host the New York Giants at Fedex Field on Thursday. While the matchup will be a nationally televised battle between NFC East rivals, there are tickets available on the...

We've highlighted Giants receiver Odell Beckham's skills before, but this is unreal. Check out the athleticism he employs to snag this ball with one hand and still make it into the end zone. Even Al Michaels couldn't believe what he'd seen, and he's seen everything.

In his first extended public apperance since getting out of prison, Plaxico Burress announced Monday in New York City that he has partnered with the National Urban League and the Brady Center to combat gun violence. “I want to see every child have a chance to succeed. I have an opportunity to make a difference,” Burress said via the New York Post. Quickly rehabbing his public image with a partnership like this is a page taken directly out of the Michael Vick playbook. So is the news Monday that Tony Dungy will serve as a mentor to Vick. David Tyree had a strong inkling his NFL career might be over. On Friday, he'll make it official. With the team he said has given him his "greatest memories." The Super Bowl XLII hero, whose miraculous catch with Patriots safety Rodney Harrison hanging all over him will remain the defining moment of his career, signed a one-day contract with the Giants so he can retire as a member of the organization, the team confirmed. Tyree will make the announcement during a 10 a.m. conference call. Tyree, 30, played five seasons with the Giants, who stuck with the former sixth-round pick...
  • Former NFL star Lawrence Taylor charged with raping 16-year-old runaway in NY hotel room

SUFFERN, N.Y. (AP) — Pro Football Hall of Famer Lawrence Taylor was charged Thursday with raping a 16-year-old runaway in an encounter that police said was arranged by a man who beat her up before driving her to Taylor's suburban hotel room while she texted her uncle for help. Taylor, a 51-year-old former New York Giants star who has faced drug and tax evasion charges in the past, paid the girl $300 for sex in a Holiday Inn, where he was arrested early Thursday, said Christopher St. Lawrence, supervisor of the town of Ramapo. Ramapo Chief of Police Peter Brower...

St. Vincent's hospital in New York has a little bit of a debt problem -- about $700 million worth, according to the New York Post. They also owed New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning(notes) over $500,000 for marketing work he's done for them, but Eli, aware of their debt problems, told them no thanks. He wants them to keep their money. He'll continue doing fund-raising work for the hospital for free, too. Obviously, it's the right thing for Eli to do. What kind of person -- especially one with Eli's money -- would demand that a bankrupt hospital keep paying...
  • The Hapless Redskins & Their Attempt at a Fake Field Goal (Video of trick play)

Like the play where Jim Marshall ran the wrong way for a touchdown, the Redskins will want to forget this trick play they attempted instead of kicking a last second field goal at the end of the first half of the MNF game against the New York Giants. Well, not only was the trick play botched, but as the play progressed it looked like it was a bunch of Pee-Wee Football kids running around the first for the first time. The Redskins fake field goal trick play almost ended up in a 95 yard interception return for a touchdown by...

--snip-- The crowd quieted. The Eagles celebrated. It was 23-14, and it would end 26-14, and it would set up the most deliciously delightful match-up next Sunday afternoon at 1 o'clock, the Eagles and the GiantsNew York Giants , the Iggles and the Jints, ancient foes and bitter rivals with only a berth in the NFC Championship Game at stake. It might have been a little easier on Giants fans' nerves if the opponent were the Cardinals, who've treated the East Coast this year as if the whole shoreline had a case of Legionnaire's Disease. But you can't deny that...

It was reported reported Sunday that the Giants' receiver will be charged with criminal possession of a weapon, according to Burress' agent Benjamin Brafman, who added that Burress will enter a "not guilty" plea. Police had gone to his house, the hospital and staked out his car, which was left at the club as late as Saturday night, hoping to question Burress and check out the gun that was used in the shooting. When police went to Burress' house yesterday and attempted to locate him, his wife, through an intercom, insisted he was not home and that she was not...

At the Giants halftime last night in the Meadowlands, a "Stand Up for Cancer" presentation was made by three people from the 50 yard line: Steve Tisch, partner in the ownership of the Giants, a radiant and gorgeous Christie Brinkley, and Jeff Zucker.Tisch was roundly booed (because of the personal seat licenses which the Giants have instituted for the new stadium which will open in 2010). Chritie came on next and was warmly greeted by the 77k fans. But when Zucker was announced and began to speak, the fans booed him almost as vigorously as they did to Tisch. Why? The...

The Giants unveiled the design of their Super Bowl championship ring today, a white gold sparkler that will feature about 1.5 carats in diamonds. The new ring will even make seven-time Pro Bowl defensive end Michael Strahan happy. Shortly after the Giants won the NFL championship with a 17-14 win over the previously undefeated New England Patriots, Strahan said he wanted a “10-table ring.” Loosely defined: He wanted a ring that could be seen 10 tables away in a restaurant. “There was some discussion about maybe one of the rings was too big,” said center Shaun O’Hara, who was among...
