Jeff Zucker (CEO of NBC) Heartily Booed at Halftime of Giants Game (anti-MSM statement)

At the Giants halftime last night in the Meadowlands, a "Stand Up for Cancer" presentation was made by three people from the 50 yard line: Steve Tisch, partner in the ownership of the Giants, a radiant and gorgeous Christie Brinkley, and Jeff Zucker.
Tisch was roundly booed (because of the personal seat licenses which the Giants have instituted for the new stadium which will open in 2010). Chritie came on next and was warmly greeted by the 77k fans.
But when Zucker was announced and began to speak, the fans booed him almost as vigorously as they did to Tisch.
Why? The only thing I could think of was the incredibly biased election coverage that this network was providing.
I only wish Williams, Matthews, Olbermann, et. al. had been there.

Well, it could also be the fall line up.

That is very interesting, seeing how Giants stadium would have been predominantly populated by blue staters.

Thanks for the report.

True, but the season ticket holders likely skew a bit more Republican than the mass of NY-NJ-CT folk...
And it wasn't just an occasional boo. It was sustained and robust.

Sure they weren’t booing Manning? He stunk it up.

And while this isn’t a bug story, I hope Sean or Rush see this and check it out with their friends who were at the game (assuming that their friends didn’t hit the lavatories at halftime or go get a beer).

And Zucker was thinking: “Why do these stupid beer-swilling idiots hate me? But what do they know? Do they have an Ivy league education? Are their friends all millionaires? Do they go to parties with Hillary and Barack?? I don’t think so! Who cares what these jerks think! But I do wonder why they hate me.”

Or - simply - the crowd knows the truth. Christie Brinkley is the only one of the three that is worth a d**n.

Is Jeff Zucker the brother of Davd Zucker who made the movie “An American Carol” that slams liberals? Perhaps the fans are dumb liberals who can’t tell the brothers apart?

True enough...the Meadowlands faithful were happy to get out with a W. But the Giants were doing Xs and Os at the time within the stadium and were nowhere to be seen.

Is Jeff Zucker the brother of Davd Zucker who made the movie An American Carol that slams liberals? No, David Zucker's brother is Jerry Zucker. The two of them, plus Jim Abrahams, wrote and directed Airplane, Top Secret, and the Naked Gun movies.

I glanced at the TV blaring away during my shift last night, and was incredulous that those touch-holes actually had Olberman and *Andrea Mitchell* involved in the convention coverage. Nothing like spelling out corporate policy for all to see. Thanks Pharmboy. Partisan Weasel Media Shill alert.

No...we boo only the folks we believe deserve it. For example, ANY time Tiki Barber appears on the Big Screen he gets booed. Why? Because 2 seasons ago when the G-men were 6-2, he announced his retirement. He also bad-mouthed Eli and the coach to the press. Giants fans do not forget...but even I (Giants fan and ten-year Freeper) was surprised at how vigorously they went after Zucker.
They will just ignore people that they have no strong feelings about.

Perhaps what you say had more to do with it, but I don’t know if that alone would have animated the crowd as much. With McCain speaking later that evening, and Palin still fresh in minds, the over the top biased coverage seems to me the more likely motivator.

The Giants are one of the oldest teams in the NFL, season tickets are passed down from generation to generation. You can’t just go get Giant season tickets, you get put on a waiting list and it can take years before your name is chosen. It’s the same with the Packers. The Giants are a blue collar team.

Being at a football game live means putting up with TV timeouts, and there’s even more of those for prime time games. Pretty easy to hate TV execs at half time when you’ve already put up with 650 TV time outs.

The giants fans are older than the Jets fans, probably have higher incomes, and there are waiting lists for both, though the giants list is much longer.
But I have spent time on football message boards of variious teams, (have attended tailgates of both groups of fans), and both Giants and jets fans on those boards are overwhelmingly liberal.

Oh like Ohio has any quaterbacks that are any good. C’mon Eli is the finest quaterback in the NFC, a superbowl MVP, a man of God and country. Good people, great quaterback for the defending superbowl champs.

Being at a football game live means putting up with TV timeouts, and theres even more of those for prime time games. Perhaps, but it looks like the NFL and NBC kept this particular game moving, to make sure it finished on time for the convention -- I use my DVR to record night games and start watching after the little ones are put to bed, and I noticed the commercial breaks were much shorter than usual, when using the 30-second skip -- about 1:30 vs. the typical 2:00 to 2:30.

And this before it was found the MSNBC provided code pink with press passes to gain access to the convention.
Additionally, it appears from what leftist press is being derided in the foreign press around the world. So much for their arguement for enhancing the status of American around the globe.
To: Canedawg
The Giants fans I know and grew up with are by no means liberal. They have had their tickets handed down since the Giants were playing at the Polo Fields. But then again, I don’t know very many liberals so you may be right.
To: panthermom
The overall demographics of the metropolitan area represents a liberal bent, and has for decades. People who had seasons tickets way back when are products of the FDR generation, and he was a New yorker.
it doesnt mean every ticket holder is a lib, but you can not assume that there is a great disparity betwen fans of a team and the area in which they live.
BTW, I checked with Mccain HQ to see if i could do some volunteer work, and they only have one office in Woodsomething NJ for the entire NY, NJ metropolitan area. They arent stupid. They arent going to invest a lot in states they wont win.

Its because all the Giants fans are evil anti-semites! That includes the countless Jews I know who have season tickets and go to games on a regular basis and are pissed off at Tisch. ;-)
Zucker is a dweeb with a crappy network. I haven't watched NBC, outside of sporting events, since Seinfeld went off the air.

Most "blue collar" folk in NY/NJ vote Dem. Even though they may whine about immigration and make politically incorrect jokes, they still hate "rich Republicans" and only occasionally stray from the fold (Whitman in '93, Reagan in '84). This has been my experience from certain members of my family (and their friends) and looking at election returns from certain districts.
Giants fans probably include more Republicans than the metro area as a whole (being largely white and male), but still lean Dem.
