On the eve of his 100th day in office, President Trump rallied a convention of the National Rifle Association by vowing to "never, ever infringe" on Second Amendment rights and declaring his predecessor's alleged "assault" on those freedoms is over. “I am here to deliver you good news: the eight-year assault on your Second Amendment freedoms has come to a crashing end,” Trump told the cheering crowd. Trump is the first sitting president to address an NRA convention in more than three decades. The last president to do so was Ronald Reagan in 1983. Trump started his address with a...

Considering GOP control of Washington, one might have expected “concealed-carry reciprocity” – national legislation declaring that if you have a concealed carry permit in one state, is must be recognized by all other states — to have been either featured in President Trump’s 100 days agenda or rapidly approaching passage. The bill has 188 cosponsors in the House, but has been sitting in subcommittee since January. Justice Gorsuch is a fantastic win for the administration, but there’s still a lot of lower court judicial vacancies to fill: Circuit courts need nominees for 19 vacancies, and district courts are waiting to...

Late at night, when helicopters thrum overhead and spotlights beam down onto lawns, many people here know exactly what's going on. "You just think, 'Oh, God, whose child is it now?'" said Stephanie Spezia, a longtime resident of this suburb in the heart of Long Island that is caught in the grip of a violent street gang with Central American ties, MS-13. MS-13 has been blamed for a trail of 11 corpses of mostly young people discovered in woods and vacant lots in Brentwood and neighboring Central Islip since the start of the school year. The bloodshed in the two...

Georgia Rep. John Lewis will join protesters outside of the National Rifle Association's convention in Atlanta on Saturday. Several hundred gun control advocates are expected to gather ahead of President Trump's speech to the annual convention, according to an Atlanta Journal-Constitution report. In January, Trump criticized Lewis on Twitter, saying the civil rights icon is "All talk, talk, talk — no action or results." Lewis did not attend the inauguration and said he did not see Trump as a "legitimate president." More than 80,000 people are expected at the NRA convention. Several hundred people have also RSVP'ed to protests organized...

The NRA Convention is in Atlanta at the end of this week, and Trump is attending. I also know there's little to no chance I'm getting a seat (I'm not a member anyway), so will there be any rallies going on in the area to mark the occasion? The Berkeley videos are fresh on my mind, and I'll be damned if I stand by while Antifa tries to crash the party. Thanks in advance, everybody!

Op-ed paints gun owners as wannabe thrill killers inspired by John Wayne Editorial board member Francis X. Clines wrote in the piece that the Fairfax, Virginia gun museum, which features firearms from every era of American history, represents the worst of America. In particular, Clines was troubled by a display detailing gun use in Hollywood movies. "There are thousands of ingenious, gleaming rifles and handguns in displays about America's gun-rich history of colonialism, immigration, expansionism and vigilante justice," Clines wrote on page A22 of Monday's Times. "But it is the gallery devoted to Hollywood and its guns and good-guy shooters...

Missouri School of Journalism professor emeritus George Kennedy suggests the National Rifle Association (NRA) is more dangerous than Islamic State. . . . Kennedy then claims the number of Americans killed by ISIS jihadists since 9/11 is nine. That is not a typo, he actually links to a Euronews source and claims only nine Americans have been killed by ISIS jihadists since the terror attacks on NYC in 2001.

President Donald Trump will be the first President to speak at the NRA Annual Meetings since Ronald Reagan did it in 1983. He will speak to the NRA’s 2017 Leadership Forum in Atlanta on April 28. Breitbart News reported that the NRA endorsed Trump on May 20, 2016, during the 2016 Annual Meetings in Louisville, Kentucky. Thereafter, the NRA campaigned for Trump, and Trump reminded voters again and again that he would work with the NRA to save the Second Amendment if elected. Trump will now return to speak to the gun rights group that cheered him to victory last...

To look at her, this slight, almost elï¬n woman doesn't look like a "gun person." With her hair in a short "pixie" cut, her dark eyes contrast sharply with her "winter" coloring, making them look larger than they actually are. After just four years in the shooting world, Tatiana Whitlock ï¬nds herself a spokeswoman for the NRA Women's Network and a member of the Maine Hunters TV pro-staff. She's quickly changed from industrial designer to a ï¬rearms instructor, active hunter and owner of a target manufacturing company. In some way that's probably why the NRA picked her. She symbolizes the...

Get out the popcorn: the nation’s largest and most effective civil rights organization has declared war on the New York Times. The Times is running an ad campaign portraying itself as a purveyor of truth, a claim that is met with hollow laughter by those who are familiar with the paper’s sordid history. Into the breach steps National Rifle Association commentator Dana Loesch, who–unlike anyone who writes about guns for the Times–knows a great deal about firearms.

Four people were shot at an elementary school in San Bernardino, California, Monday just after 10:30 a.m. Pacific time – and at least one leading anti-gun activist wasted no time before she blamed the National Rifle Association for “trying to force guns into schools across the U.S.”

Strip away the emotions and moral concerns about the gun industry and what’s left is a multibillion-dollar business involving a highly competitive group of manufacturers whose existence depends on steady demand for their products. The problem is that they’ve glutted one of their biggest markets — the U.S., which is home to an estimated 300 million guns — while the percentage of Americans owning guns has hit a 40-year low. So how do they keep the cash registers ringing? By using fear-based marketing and public rhetoric spouted by their political lobbying mouthpiece, the National Rifle Association, to convince those who...

Anger is mounting over an anti-gun policy adopted in January by the international service and networking organization, Rotary International (RI).A letter announcing the rules, set to take effect in on July 1, claimed they were a response to “a lack of clarity around RI’s policy … when participating in activities involving guns, weapons, and other armaments, and when interacting with gun companies, including for sponsorship purposes.”The new rules – codified in Chapter II, Article 2, Section 2.100 of Rotary Code of Policies – unfortunately feature their own ambiguities and contradictions. But one thing is clear: Those who prize America’s Second Amendment...

[snip] Never before have we seen a change in administration that has been met with such widespread organized hatered. That hatred is amplified by a national media that has thrown out the rules of journalism and has become a part of the mob.[snip]The most troubling aspect of this transformation of orderly democrach into mobocracy is led by ex-President Barack Obama's private political squad, Organizing for Action (OFA)......

The National Rifle Association spent a record amount to support Donald Trump's winning presidential campaign — upward of $30 million. While this investment looks wise now, recall that not long ago it was the height of insanity. Trump's campaign seemed doomed — but the NRA doubled down on its risky bet anyway, which threatened to marginalize it and undermine it politically. I believe this bet testifies to the NRA's desperation. This sounds odd, I realize, when you consider how the gun lobby is racking up legislative victories — expanding "campus carry" and permitless concealed-carry gun laws at the state level,...

Former presidential candidate Martin O’Malley is one of the first Democrats to begin the process of running for president in 2020, according to a Wednesday report from Politico. The former governor of Maryland commissioned a poll in Iowa, the site of the first caucus in presidential elections, revealing a huge show of interest. O’Malley fared well in the poll, earning 18 percent of voters. The poll included nine other potential candidates: Sens. Cory Booker, Kirsten Gillibrand, former Housing Sec. Julian Castro, New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, state Sens. Kamala Harris of California and Amy Klobuchar of Minnesota, as well as...
