NASHVILLE -- The Nashville Predators know they play in a nontraditional hockey market, but they wouldn't have it any other way. The passion for hockey always has been there in Nashville, and it will be on display at the 2016 Honda NHL All-Star Game on Sunday (5 p.m. ET; NBCSN, CBC, TVA Sports) and at different events during All-Star Weekend. Nashville has had a hockey fandom even if the popularity and a deep understanding of the history of the game wasn't always prevalent. When the Predators came into the NHL as an expansion franchise before the 1998-99 season, die-hard fans...

BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) — The lawyer of a woman accusing Chicago Blackhawks star Patrick Kane of sexual assault abruptly quit the case Thursday night, saying he's no longer comfortable representing the woman because of how her mother reported finding an evidence bag they believed once held the woman's rape kit. Thomas Eoannou told reporters he doesn't believe the story he was told about how the bag was found. But he said he's still confident in the woman's allegations against Kane. "I don't know how that reflects, and I don't think it does, on the night in question," Eoannou said of...

CHICAGO — The Chicago Blackhawks are one win away from winning another Stanley Cup championship. But one of the team’s ambassadors can’t enjoy it, because he doesn’t know its happening. Hall of Famer Stan Mikita spent his entire 22-year NHL career in Chicago. He’s now 75 and suffers from a brain disorder called Lewy body. The disorder can lead to dementia, hallucinations, and memory loss. Mikita’s wife, Jill, tells the Chicago Tribune, “His mind is completely gone. I don’t like to use that term, but there’s no other way to describe it.” “He doesn’t know he’s missing out. He has...

Pre-ordained findings: Endeavor to get to the bottom of this, Brady will be totally vindicated. The same can't be said for Roger Goodell and Ted Wells, who appear to have been motivated here by anything, everything except the truth I know a lot of you are absolutely convinced that Tom Brady cheated his way to the Super Bowl by flagrantly directing the illegal deflation of footballs that were used in the AFC Championship Game against the Colts, and that the Patriots’ 45-7 win in that game was tainted by Brady’s better grip on the balls as a result of the...

Eric Lindros has launched a $250,000 defamation lawsuit against former NHL referee Paul Stewart and the Huffington Post, after Stewart wrote a column for the online news website that allegedly made the former Philadelphia Flyers star forward look like a "dickhead." In documents filed in an Ontario court, Lindros says his reputation has been sullied after Stewart wrote about his poor on-ice relationship with Lindros, which was capped by an incident when Lindros allegedly tore up posters he was asked by Stewart to autograph for a charity.

Another chapter in the never-ending love/hate relationship between New York and fracking. The former has banned the latter, as we’re sure you know. First, let’s go back to 2010. East Resources, which is a privately held independent oil and gas company operating in the Marcellus, among other areas, sells a vast amount of acreage in the Marcellus and other areas to Royal Dutch Shell for $4.7 billion. Then go back to earlier this year. Ralph Wilson, the only man who ever owned the Buffalo Bills, dies in March. So his heirs put the Bills–who haven’t made the NFL playoffs since...
