This landed in my inbox a few hours ago from the ‘New Hampshire for Scott Brown’ press team (emphasis mine): Today, Scott Brown received the endorsement of the former Democratic Leader of the New Hampshire State Senate, Bob Preston. Preston, who served nine terms as a State Senator including eight years as Democratic leader, penned the following open letter encouraging voters to support Scott Brown next Tuesday:

United States Senate For the third straight week, the US Senate race in New Hampshire is statistically a dead heat. According to Lesperance, “This week Republican Scott Brown leads Democrat Senator Jeanne Shaheen 48% to 46.9%. However, this is well within the 2.98% margin of error. So the Senate race is just too close to call.” 2.8% of respondents would prefer another candidate and 2.3% are unsure.

Scott Brown, the former senator from Massachusetts who moved to New Hampshire to run in a more friendly environment, appears to be in a dead heat with Democratic Sen. Jeanne Shaheen, a new poll shows. A CNN/ORC International poll out Monday finds Shaheen and Brown tied among likely voters, with both obtaining the support of 48% among 735 voters surveyed. A close race could mean bad news for Democrats, who are struggling to maintain control of the Senate. Republican Scott Brown leads incumbent Democratic senator Jeanne Shaheen of New Hampshire by five points in a recent poll obtained by THE WEEKLY STANDARD. The poll, commissioned by the Republican Governor's Association, was conducted on March 19 and 20 and asked 600 likely voters in New Hampshire who they would vote for in the U.S. Senate election. Respondents were given both Brown and Shaheen's names and their respective parties.

CONCORD — The issue of background checks for firearm purchases will come back to the House after a committee voted Thursday to establish a study commission on gun violence and background checks. Last week, the House voted 242-118 after a lengthy debate to kill House Bill 1589, which would have required background checks for all commercial gun sales, including those at gun shows and flea markets. Personally, I don't like him, I don't trust him, and I probably wouldn't vote for him if I lived in NH... but Shaheen is just so damn unlikable.
