April Ryan, an inexplicably esteemed member of the White House press corps, having tried and failed to promote a "fake news" controversy over White House's Press Secretary Sarah Sanders' Thanksgiving pecan pie, has not apologized or acknowledged her error, has rejected Sanders' face-saving attempt to smooth things over, and is apparently worried that Sanders will publicly poison her and her fellow journalists. You can't make this stuff up. Ryan's history, as documented at NewsBusters, is full of embarrassing statements, unhinged rants, and stunning ignorance of very basic facts. The pie saga began when Sanders posted a photo Thursday afternoon of the pecan...

By now, Hillary Clinton is as polished as politicians come. At 69, her hair is perfectly coiffed and colored, her makeup is subtle and her clothes are expensive. A trained debater, educated at Wellesley and Yale Law School, with decades of public life, she speaks well. In an election that she has framed around temperamental fitness for the presidency, her deliberate comments and careful parsing of words suggest that she possesses the steadiness and judgment required. That is the image we saw when she stood on a debate stage with the far less controlled, more hot-tempered Donald Trump. Clinton’s public...

It’s time for God to stop blessing America during the seventh-inning stretch. Welcome to the July 4 holiday weekend — when once again, baseball fans will be assaulted by the saccharine-sweet non-anthem “God Bless America” at stadia all over this great land. But no matter which home team you root, root, root for, “God Bless America” should be sent permanently to the bench.

But Frank Stelmach of Double Tap Shooting Range and Gun Shop invited me, videographer Michael Sheridan and reporter Adam Shrier to come down. Stelmach is not like many gun lovers. He admires his weaponry, yes, and has difficulty explaining why law-abiding citizens need a gun that can empty a 40-round magazine in a few seconds. But he also hates the idea that “bad people” get a hold of a gun like this and use it to kill without difficulty. “There should be expanded background checks — extending into your family, friends and associates,” he said. “And there should be a...

It feels like a bazooka — and sounds like a cannon. One day after 49 people were killed in the Orlando shooting, I traveled to Philadelphia to better understand the firepower of military-style assault weapons and, hopefully, explain their appeal to gun lovers. But mostly, I was just terrified. Many gun shops turned down our request to fire and discuss the AR-15, a style of semi-automatic rifle popular with mass killers such as San Bernardino terrorist Syed Farook and similar to the Sig Sauer MCX rifle used by Orlando terrorist Omar Mateen. Killers in mass shootings used AR-15, thanks to...

"It feels like a bazooka - and sounds like a cannon." How do we know AR-15s are the single most lethal weapon on the planet? Because they're SO LOUD. LOUD, YOU HEAR ME?! LOUD!!!! This is one of those things that must be read to be believed, and no, this was not found in The Onion, amazingly. New York Daily News reporter Gersh Kuntzman set out to test shoot an AR-15. “It feels like a bazooka — and sounds like a cannon,” he writes. A cannon. And Bazooka? The same bazooka also known as a "recoilless rifle"? I would like...

There is no politician in recent memory who seems more a product of her handlers than Hillary Clinton. But her handlers in 2008 did hardly anything for her, and now you wonder if the reinforcements she’s brought in this time are doing any better, or giving her better advice. Because all she continues to do is serve this whole thing up for Donald Trump. The other day she said that she was going to ask Bill Clinton to help her with the economy. She did this in a political season when Trump has sold himself two ways, apart from walls...

Norman Seabrook, president of the city’s Correction Officers’ Benevolent Association, was arrested early Wednesday on federal corruption charges, officials said. Seabrook, 56, was taken into custody by federal agents at his Morris Park home in the Bronx about 6 a.m. He was under investigation for allegedly receiving kickbacks from an investment firm that does business with the 9,000-member union — the largest municipal jail union in the country.

Last Sunday, Krystal Lake, a 22-year-old Home Depot employee on Staten Island, was photographed wearing a hat that says, “America Was Never Great.” It's in the same font and style of Trump's campaign slogan of "Make America Great Again." Of course, death threats and hate mail targeting her have come pouring in — which, if you think about it, lends itself to her feeling like she was right to wear the hat in the first place. About two months ago, I wrote a column about the word "again" in Trump's slogan. I think it's a racist dog whistle and it...

For four decades, the National Rifle Association has pumped millions of dollars into federal elections, supporting both Republican and Democratic candidates who voted in accordance with the gun group’s strict view of the Second Amendment. That era is over. During the last federal election cycle, in 2014, the gun group’s spending on behalf of Democrats dwindled to virtually nothing, even as its overall election-related spending soared to more than $32 million, an analysis by the Daily News and The Trace found.

Three government officials were charged Wednesday in the lead-tainted water crisis that terrorized Flint, Mich. Two officials with the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality and Flint’s laboratory and water quality supervisor were slapped with a slew of criminal charges, the state’s attorney general announced Wednesday. Mike Glasgow, a supervisor at Flint's water plant, is charged with tampering with evidence and willful neglect of office. Prosecutors alleged he meddled with water tests so the results showed less lead than was actually present, MLive reported. Stephen Busch and Mike Prysby — a district supervisor and a district engineer respectively in the state...

Shaun King, the Black Lives Matter version of Rachel Dolezal who claims unconvincingly to be black, got a gig with the New York Daily News to rant about white privilege. The Daily News these days is like the Daily Mail but with even less class. But apparently they have editors. The chief function of these editors is to get fired when they can't stop the crazy abuses of News star talent like Shaun King. Shaun King, the controversial columnist of The New York Daily News, has been accused of plagiarism. The alleged stealing of sources was discovered by The Daily...

It's been over a week since Bernie Sanders -- in an interview with the New York Daily News -- made arguably the most defamatory factual error of campaign 2016 by drastically inflating Gazan casualties in the 2014 Hamas-Israel war with a figure of "over 10,000 innocent people" allegedly killed by Israel. That number dwarfed those reported by the UN and even (amazingly) Hamas itself. Here's the transcript: Sanders: Look, why don't I support a million things in the world? I'm just telling you that I happen to believe...anybody help me out here, because I don't remember the figures, but my...

Mayor de Blasio rips Donald Trump, calls him a 'racist' promoting 'proto-fascism' Mayor de Blasio took a big swing at Donald Trump Saturday — calling out the huckster as a “racist” promoting “proto-fascism.” De Blasio ripped into the Republican front-runner after a string of rallies devolved into bloody spectacles, with supporters and protesters clashing over Trump’s provocative rhetoric.

A major New York newspaper critical of Donald Trump is turning its fire on New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie for endorsing Trump for president. Saturday's New York Daily News front page calls Christie "MAN WITH A KLAN," displaying the governor alongside hooded Ku Klux Klan members. Below the headline, the newspaper says: "Just days after ex-KKK leader urges haters to vote for Donald, Christie endorses him."

Fire, brimstone and... tacky high-end luxury properties? The New York Daily News fired a new salvo in its ongoing war of words with Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump, calling the real estate magnate "ANTI CHRIST" on its front page. An image of Trump was also doctored to surround him with flames and to give him devilishly red and scaly skin.

“I think journalistically, to not take Donald Trump seriously is a mistake,†Tapper tells TheWrap “I think journalistically, to not take Donald Trump seriously is a mistake,†Tapper tells TheWrap CNN’s Jake Tapper is not impressed with Huffington Post and New York Daily News headlines mocking Donald Trump.“I think those are business decisions that they are making, not journalistic decisions. They think that will appeal to readers and allow them to carve out a niche to get clicks or have newspapers purchased,†said the host of “The Lead with Jake Tapper,†in an interview with TheWrap.“But, I think journalistically,...

Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump is driving young Muslims "closer to the terrorists," said actress and feminist icon Jane Fonda. Ms. Fonda, 78, appeared Sunday night at the Women's Equality and ERA Coalition's "Night of Comedy" in Manhattan, accusing Mr. Trump of "fanning the flames of people's anxieties and racism," the New York Daily News reported. "It's terrible and it's dangerous," Ms. Fonda said. "Even if he doesn't make it, which I don't think he will, the fact that he's said the things he's said about Muslims for example,...

The Times’ online headline, “Drop Dead? Not The Newly Relevant Daily News,†refers of course to it's rival's infamous 1975 headline: “Ford to City: Drop Dead.†The Daily News also rehashed its own headline recently to attack Ted Cruz for his crack about “New York values.†You guessed it: “Drop Dead, Ted.†That passes for “relevance†among the left and the NYT. Mahler took us inside the liberal hive mind, buzzing with giddy self-congratulation over yet another puerile attack on Republicans, while the Times dutifully reprinted the controversial Daily News covers that made liberals go giddy. On a recent afternoon,...

Take note Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith: Getting political has its risks. After the actress declared Monday that she will be boycotting the Oscars after her husband was snubbed, Alexis Arquette took a major swing at the pair for what she alleges is hypocrisy. The transgender actress and gender-rights activist "outed" the married couple with a Facebook post that argued that Mr. and Mrs. Smith’s comments on race and the Oscars were invalid because they won't ’fess up about their alleged homosexuality. "When Jada comes out as Gay and her beard husband admits his first marriage ended when she...
