NEW YORK — President Bill Clinton’s former aide says Anthony Weiner’s continuing sexting scandal has been “very painful” for the Clintons, who are close to the New York mayoral candidate’s wife. Ex-press secretary Dee Dee Myers said Sunday on CBS’ “Face the Nation” it wasn’t a story anybody, particularly the Clintons, were happy to see dominate the news. Weiner’s wife, Huma Abedin, was adviser to former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton. Myers later said she hadn’t spoken to the Clintons. Anthony Weiner (aka “Carlos Danger”), disgraced Congressman and NYC Democrat mayoral hopeful, refuses to…um…pull out of the race after admissions of additional, gross misconduct. Despite wilting poll numbers due to Danger’s “electile dysfunction,” he’s going to stay in. After all, his success or failure rests with New York City’s residents. If New Yorkers trust the judgment of a guy who would broadcast photos of his nether regions and set up an apartment for a girl, without ever having met her first, who are we to get in the way? But his wife, Huma Abedin, is another matter entirely. On Thursday,...

Via the Examiner, I’m going to give Hayes the benefit of the doubt and assume that he’s pandering to his audience in saying this, not that he really believes it. His reputation for being “cerebral” may be overstated but there ain’t no way no how no chance this guy’s sincerely convinced by the “logic” that because a candidate has been forgiven by his spouse for wrongdoing, the electorate should forgive too. If Huma can tolerate Weiner’s seemingly pathological need for affirmation by sexting with random women, that’s great; why a voter would tolerate it, I have no idea. At a...

At some point, the full story of Anthony Weiner and his sexual relationships and texting habits will finally be told. In the meantime, the serially evasive Mr. Weiner should take his marital troubles and personal compulsions out of the public eye, away from cameras, off the Web and out of the race for mayor of New York City. Mr. Weiner, who resigned from Congress two years ago after sending lewd messages and photos of his crotch to women he had not met, was forced to revisit the issue on Tuesday, and so were we all. A Web site called The...

He apparently "can't say" if we'll find more of them out there. The question is do we have the fortitude to deal with this nonsense again? Here's one I made from when the scandal broke.

I wandered in on the end of the Weiner press conference and, in a healthy political culture, this man, notwithstanding his particular pathologies, would be simply too ridiculous to be a credible political candidate. “I’m not going to get into a back and forth,” he told a journalist. Au contraire, he’s happy to get into a back and forth for hours on end (warning: Not safe for work). “This was something in front of us that we knew might come up,” he said. You can say that again (warning: Even less safe for work). These “sexts” and “selfies” are from...

Two polls out this week, while drawing modestly different pictures, demonstrate that former Rep. Anthony Weiner is going to be a big — maybe deciding — factor in this year’s mayoral election.

Obviously, this is a town where voters will put up with anything.

He’s back. An explosive Anthony Weiner received his first serious criticism from voters over the sexting scandal that forced him to resign from Congress Wednesday night–sparking a shouting match that marked the most heated moment of his campaign to date. Mr. Weiner had given his usual stump speech touting middle class jobs and his book of policy proposals at a New Kings Democrats candidates forum in Williamsburg when the floor was opened to questions. The second came from Chris Owens, a Brownstone Brooklyn district leader and a supporter of one of Mr. Weiner’s electoral rivals, who berated Mr. Weiner for...

When it comes to the tough questions, Anthony Weiner won’t back down. Weiner lashed out at fellow Democrats at a candidates forum Wednesday night when he was grilled about his infamous sexting scandal. -snip- Strauss noted that teachers are prohibited from tweeting photos to their students. “How are we going to have the stature as a city to tell that teacher that they can’t work for the City of New York when our mayor has done the same thing?” he asked. Weiner snapped back: “Listen, if you believe that my personal failings disqualify me, don’t vote for me.”
