The University of California says President Janet Napolitano, a former Homeland Security secretary and Arizona governor, is in the hospital due to side effects from cancer treatment. UC said she was diagnosed with cancer at the end of August and her treatment is almost complete. She has continued to work at "full capacity," according to the university, while undergoing the treatment. Due to side effects, she was hospitalized Monday and is expected to be discharged this week, UC officials said.
  • Andrew Napolitano: Why the criminal investigation of Hillary Clinton is back to front and center

The criminal investigation of Hillary Clinton is back front and center now that the FBI has released proof that her failure to safeguard state secrets caused the secrets to fall into the hands of foreign governments, some of which wish the United States ill. Even though the case against her -- which was closed and then reopened and then closed again -- is old news and she obviously is no longer a candidate to become president of the United States and has been staying below the radar for the past two months, recent developments have regenerated the case. On July...
  • How the University of California exploited a visa loophole to move tech jobs to India

Using a visa loophole to fire well-paid U.S. information technology workers and replace them with low-paid immigrants from India is despicable enough when it’s done by profit-making companies such as Southern California Edison and Walt Disney Co. But the latest employer to try this stunt sets a new mark in what might be termed “job laundering.” It’s the University of California. Experts in the abuse of so-called H-1B visas say UC is the first public university to send the jobs of American IT staff offshore. That’s not a distinction UC should wear proudly. UC is training software engineers at the...

“He was interested in a broad range of ideas and attitudes about the type of person who would best fill Justice Scalia’s seat,” Napolitano told the Fox Business Network’s Stuart Varney.   “That is essentially what we spoke about in the hour that I was privileged to sit with him,” Napolitano said.     Taken aback, Varney asked the Judge, “You spent an hour with Donald Trump this morning talking about the Supreme Court?”   “Believe it or not, yes,” responded Napolitano. “Now it was a freewheeling conversation, in which many other topics came up […]”   “But the...

Judge Napolitano doubled down today on Varney and Co. that the US intelligence community leaked the DNC emails to Wikileaks. Napolitano told Stewart Varney the US intelligence community leaked the DNC emails to Wikileaks — NOT the Russians.Napolitano says he has a source inside the intelligence community. The CIA and FBI examined the exact same data that was produced for them by the NSA. The CIA analysts said the Russians are behind this. The FBI analysts said there is no evidence that the Russians are behind this. We do know this was leaking. This was not hacking. Leaking is the...

The University of California system announced Wednesday that campus police will not undertake joint efforts with any law enforcement agencies to investigate students suspected of breaking federal immigration laws. Police officers at the UC’s 10 campuses will not contact, detain, question or arrest any individual solely on the basis of immigration status, except as required by law, the school system said in a statement. The move comes in response to the election of Donald Trump, who has promised a widespread crackdown on illegal immigration.

When Hillary Clinton delivered a campaign post-mortem to her major supporters in a telephone conference call late last week, she blamed her loss in the presidential election on FBI Director James Comey. She should have blamed the loss on herself. Her refusal to safeguard state secrets while she was secretary of state and her failure to grasp the nationwide resentment toward government by the forgotten folks in the middle class were far likelier the cause of her defeat than was Comey. Yet it is obvious that law enforcement-based decisions in the past four months were made with an eye...

What if the most remarkable aspect of this presidential election is not how much the two principal candidates disagree with each other but how much they actually agree? What if they are both statists? What if they both believe that the government's first duty is to take care of itself? What if they both believe in the primacy of the state over the individual? What if, in clashes between the state and individuals, they both would use the power of the state to trample the rights of individuals? What if the first priority of both is not to decrease the...

The Obama administration doesn’t have watchdogs. It has whitewash puppies. The president’s Chicago bullies have defanged true advocates for integrity in government in D.C. from day one. So the latest report by the Senate Homeland Security and Government Operations Committee on corruptocrat Charles K. Edwards, the former Department of Homeland Security inspector general, isn’t a revelation. It’s confirmation. Investigators found that Edwards compromised the independence of his office by socializing and sucking up to senior DHS officials. “There are many blessings to be thankful for this year,” the sycophantic Edwards wrote to the DHS acting counsel on Thanksgiving 2011, “but...
  • Is There Ample Evidence To Indict Hillary? This Judge (Napolitano) Thinks So

After the latest State Department announcement that Hillary Clinton violated government rules, Judge Andrew Napolitano definitively says there is now ample evidence to indict. Sadly, he is much less certain on whether or not the indictment will actually come. Here is Napolitano's case as he laid it out to Bill O'reilly: "Today is a big deal for a couple of reasons. First, it directly refutes a statement she has made dozens of times, 'it was allowed', we now know that it was not allowed. She never even asked." "She signed a two page statement under oath on her first day...

Judge Napolitano argued that Michelle Fields is “out of her tree” if she thinks the battery charges will stick against Corey Lewandowski. “ “I know Michelle Fields. I know her well. And I like her. I know Donald Trump. I have a financial relationship with him. I’m not a Trump spokesperson or apologist. I don’t know Corey Lewandowski. I read the complaint. I read her version of events. I read his version of events. I’ve watched the tapes until I’m blue in the face. There’s no criminal behavior here and this should be dismissed. "My predecessors did the same thing," Clinton said during Wednesday's Democratic debate. "Secretary Powell and Secretary Rice did nothing of the sort," Napolitano told "America's Newsroom" host Bill Hemmer on Thursday when asked to explain the legal distinction between the use of private emails and a private server. "Her predecessors, and let's identify them – Colin Powell and Condoleeza Rice – did not have servers in their own home," Napolitano said.

Reacting to the latest bombshell revelations about Hillary Clinton's email arrangement, Judge Andrew Napolitano said on The Kelly File Wednesday night that Clinton should be lawyering up, because "the case against her is overwhelming, damning and, from her perspective, grave."Mrs. Clinton, on the other hand, continues to insist that the latest allegations about her emails while secretary of State change "nothing." During a Wednesday interview with NPR, she said, "I'm just going to leave it up to the professionals at the Justice Department, because nothing that this says changes the fact that I never sent or received material marked classified."Via...
  • Napolitano: Why Hillary Clinton's legal woes are grave or even fatal: A tale of two smoking guns

I have argued for two months that Clinton's legal woes are either grave or worse than grave. That argument has been based on the hard, now public evidence of her failure to safeguard national security secrets and the known manner in which the Department of Justice addresses these failures. The failure to safeguard state secrets is an area of the law in which the federal government has been aggressive to the point of being merciless. State secrets are the product of members of the intelligence community's risking their lives to obtain information. [Snip] The obligation of those to whom state...

See: Can Governors Legally Block Refugees from Coming to Their States? "In response to the influx of migrants "from the American invasions of Afghanistan and Iraq," Congress in 2005 gave President George W. Bush unlimited authority to admit people for humanitarian purposes, noted Judge Napolitano. And that has since been passed over to President Obama, he added. "Here, he has the absolute lawful authority – may not like the way he’s exercising it, but he has it," said the judge. "To admit people for political asylum and humanitarian purposes." What Judge Napolitano and Foxnews ignore is, Congress cannot assume powers...

SAN DIEGO (AP) — Reducing the human carbon footprint is a "moral imperative," University of California President Janet Napolitano said Tuesday as she vowed to turn the system's 10 campuses into a living laboratory for solutions that can be scaled up to state, national and global levels. Napolitano made the comments at a two-day climate change summit at UC San Diego, where researchers discussed their blueprint for actions that they say the state and the world should undertake to tackle the problem — including reducing the carbon footprint of the wealthiest 1 billion people. The plan will be presented at...

Hillary Clinton’s email scandal has become a grave situation for her legal team, according to Judge Andrew Napolitano. Clinton said yesterday that had directed her aides to turn over her personal email server to the Department of Justice following a report that it contained top secret emails. FoxNews.com reported: Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, said two emails that traversed Clinton's personal system were deemed "Top Secret, Sensitive Compartmented Information" — a rating that is among the government's highest classifications. Grassley said McCullough had reported the new details about the higher classification to Congress on Tuesday. The State Department...
