While checking for blocked videos, I found that the NCIS Ziva/Tony video, "Those were the Days" by Mary Hopkin that HAD been blocked, and which I'd deleted, is now unblocked, so I've put it back up. For how long, we'll find out. Probably should have a home watching rating.

Exactly one week ago, at the Academy Awards, Best Actress winner Frances McDormand put the phrase "inclusion rider" into general circulation - and Matthew McWilliams, a first-day Founding Member of The Mark Steyn Club, wrote to propose one of those all-star medleys the Oscars used to do so well: Perhaps, Inclusion Rider (by Traffic), Inclusion Riders on the Storm (by The Doors), Midnight Inclusion Rider (by the Allman Brothers Band) and Low Inclusion Rider (by War). I'm open to other suggestions. Fellow Club member Bob Belvedere took up the challenge: All good choices. Perhaps, also: CC Inclusion Rider [by Chuck...

Franz Marc was a German Expressionist whose early work has the more traditional French Impressionist feel. He specialized in animals, and his work runs from representational to almost totally abstract. During World War I he was assigned to painting camouflage for military bases. He was on a list of people of talent to be pulled from the front line when he was killed at the Battle of Verdun. The music is Bach. On saxophone.

Sister Catherine Rose Holzman, one of two aging nuns who were fighting the sale of the 8-acre (3-hectare) convent, died on Friday during related legal proceedings in Los Angeles County Court, Fox affiliate KTTV reported. “To Katy Perry, please stop. Axl Rose has hit out at Apple’s Tim Cook on Twitter, describing him as the “Donald Trump of the music industry”. Cook is the current chief executive officer (CEO) of Apple, taking over from Steve Jobs in 2011 after the company’s co-founder resigned. He was previously Apple’s chief operating officer (COO). Guns N’ Roses frontman Rose has now appeared to criticise Cook by tweeting: “Tim Cook is the Donald Trump of the music industry.” Rose’s reasoning is not quite clear. Rose has previously criticised Donald Trump for appointing controversial former Alabama Senator Jeff Sessions as his Attorney General, later asking...

Notorious race imposter Rachel Dolezal will not go away. In 2015, the 40-year-old civil rights activist was catapulted into the national spotlight after she was exposed for lying about her African-American background. Though she later admitted both of her biological parents were white, Dolezal attempted to defend herself by claiming to identify as “trans-black.” The fact that she has refused to change her position has resulted in widespread backlash. And it has apparently impacted her children. On Wednesday, Netflix released a clip of their upcoming original documentary titled The Rachel Divide. Vulture reports award-winning filmmaker Laura Brownson followed Dolezal and...

The suit, filed against FremantleMedia and NBCUniversal, says that Maureen Allen was volunteering at the Pasadena Convention Center, where "AGT" was also preparing for a taping, when she attempted to roll over a power-cord protector that was obstructing the sole unblocked access ramp at the venue in her motorized wheelchair. According to the suit, filed by Allen's estate, the front wheel of her scooter got caught and turned suddenly, causing it to flip on its side. "Maureen Allen was violently thrown off her scooter onto the hard pavement, and she sustained severe injuries, including injuries to her head and her...

A "No dancing or swaying" instruction on tickets to Egyptian pop sensation Tamer Hosny's upcoming concert in Saudi Arabia has triggered an avalanche of mockery and ridicule on social media. Thousands of fans were taken by surprise when tickets for Hosny's first-ever Saudi concert in the western city of Jeddah on March 30 came with the edict that dancing was "strictly prohibited". "Ladies and gentlemen, please fasten your seat belts," one Twitter user said. "The corridors and seats will be equipped with sway detectors. Anyone who thinks about swaying will be kicked out."

I got hooked on Holmes with the 1954 Ronald Howard series and the 4pm Basil Rathbone movies. Read canon obsessively. Loved the intensity that Jeremy Brett brought to the show. So many actors made so many great interpretations.
