  • John Fogerty's "Gunslinger" for Denny Craig in Boston Legal

    10/15/2017 10:13:55 AM PDT · by mairdie · 21 replies
Pure humor. And a lot more shooting than you'd ever expect of a show about Boston lawyers. Also one quick glimpse of a man's rump.
  • "One Toy Soldier" by Enya for Harm in JAG

    10/14/2017 10:42:23 AM PDT · by mairdie · 10 replies
The title could be misinterpreted, but it's a very gentle, pro-military song about a little boy and his beloved toy soldier. A music video strongly edited to a strong beat. "One Toy Soldier" by Enya.

Saw jackie Chan movie "the Foreigner". Interesting side note: he has ben off and on the highest paid actor in the world, mainly due to huge success China, plus his big hits in US. Movie was interesting since some of it was in mandarin with subtitles. Tthe rest takes place in Ireland. Movie itself is a tried and true formula: terorists kill the daughter of just some regular nobody guy running a Chinese restaurant in London. Except-oh oh- he isn’t a regular guy but a retired special forces guy with bomb making, survival, firearms, kung fu, etc etc. Couple good...

  • "Good King Wenceslas" by the Mormon Tabernacle for Due South

Benny, of Due South, is a wonderfully good character. Perfect for "Good King Wenceslas" by the Mormon Tabernacle. Choirs are often difficult to follow for lyrics, but this one is fairly well enunciated.

Harvey Weinstein is a loser. To use a British phrase, he’s a wanker and based on present reporting it seems he’s a wanker in all meanings of the word. Any guy who has to use his power over a woman to get laid is a loser.

“Dynasty” is back on television. “Blade Runner” is in theaters. And all your favorite synth pop bands from the 1980s, including Depeche Mode and New Order, have new albums. As Generation X moves into wistful middle age, the new-wave hit makers of the MTV V.J. era are back and touring. Here are some new long-playing discs (also available for streaming!) that recall a time when all it took was an angular haircut and a Yamaha DX7 to rule the world.

Jimmy Beaumont, the golden-voiced singer of the Skyliners, died Saturday in his sleep at his home in McKeesport at age 76 after a career that lasted nearly 60 years. “He was just a phenomenal talent,” said Henry DeLuca, who promoted the Roots of Rock and Roll concerts that celebrated many a Skyliners anniversary. “All the Pittsburgh singers idolized him. A distinctive voice that no one could imitate.”

Despite underperforming, “Blade Runner 2049” could still have the biggest box office opening this month After an “It”-fueled surge in September, the box office is slowing down again in the early stages of October. After “Kingsman: The Golden Circle” closed out last month by taking the top spot with just $17 million, “Blade Runner 2049” surprisingly underperformed with $32.7 million, well below hopes of a $45-50 million start. But despite that letdown, it could still have the highest opening weekend of this month, as the remaining releases on the October slate aren’t expected to do any better. This weekend, the...

Rush was discussing the many Hollywood starlets who seemed to come out of nowhere, whose careers skyrocketed because of their "association" with sickening perv Harvey Weinstein. All of them were probably seriously sexually harassed but kept quiet because of their personal lust for fame and fortune. So in that sense, they enabled Weinstein's disgusting predatory behavior. This is a starting list of names. Please add to the list if you know of others: Amy Adams Gwyneth Paltrow Jennifer Lawrence Ashley Judd

Margaret Thatcher' was briefed on Sex Pistols before Smash Hits interview and told 'You may not enjoy this'Margaret Thatcher’s knowledge of punk rock was Pretty Vacant – so aides had to brief her on the Sex Pistols before a pop magazine interview. A Downing Street memo for her meeting with Smash Hits journalist Tom Hibbert warned “you may not enjoy this”, private papers reveal. A history of punk was attached, which read: “The 1976-1978 era was a very basic musical style featuring a strange bunch of anti-establishment acts. “Most famous were the Sex Pistols with God Save The Queen and...

On this Columbus Day weekend, Christopher Columbus is close to being entirely obliterated from American life, and the barbarians have galloped on to newer targets for their rage. I mentioned yesterday how sad I was to see that in his home town a memorial to America's first great songwriter is to be dismantled and removed. Stephen Foster's songs were uniquely popular on both sides of the Civil War, but he seems less likely to survive the cold Civil War of 21st century America. And so the cultural vandals, who cannot create but can only destroy, scent another victory. In my...
