Over the weekend Senator Harkin, while campaigning for Bruce Braley, suggested that people may vote for Joni Ernst because she’s really attractive and sounds nice, but they shouldn’t be fooled by that. Real estate broker Edward Petrie had claimed he was done out of his 4 percent commission after Deutsch went behind his back and brokered the 2010 sale privately to avoid paying the fee. Petrie had found a potential buyer in hedge fund boss Howard Marks, but once Deutsch realized he knew Marks, the realtor claimed that the TV host went behind his back. MSNBC host Krystal Ball refuses to talk about her participation in the “Stop Rush” campaign targeting conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh’s advertisers. Ball secretly participated in the Stop Rush movement since becoming affiliated with MSNBC, emails reveal. But Ball did not respond to The Daily Caller’s emailed request for comment on her participation in the activist effort. “Stop Rush” is a campaign principally organized by Angelo Carusone, who is now a Media Matters executive vice president embroiled in controversy after TheDC published racist and anti-Semitic blog posts that he wrote. White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest additionally mocked Chairman Darrell Issa for his pronunciation of the word "Ebola" and dismissed the hearing. "I didn't see much of it," Earnest said to reporters during the White House Press briefing. "It does seem that most of the criticism was registered by somebody who struggled to pronounce the name of the virus at the hearing." Let she who is without geography sin cast the first globe! On her MSNBC show last night, Rachel Maddow mercilessly mocked Darrell Issa for confusing Guinea with Guyana. The Republican congressman made his mistake during a discussion of the country in which the latest Ebola outbreak began. Issa said it was "Guyana," a South American country, whereas in fact it was Guinea, a West African one. Fair enough. Issa should have gotten his countries straight. But of all the hosts in the MSNBC lineup, Rachel Maddow should have been the last to have the chutzpah to highlight Issa's blooper. For...

MSNBC’s Joy Reid used the network’s coverage of a school shooting in Washington State to push for more gun control on Friday. Less than an hour after the network began live coverage of the shooting, she remarked, “You do have the prevalence, obviously, of guns in this country. It's interesting that Washington State actually has two gun measures that were on the ballot in the upcoming election.” And, “We can't really have a conversation about school shootings without talking about the country's gun laws” during an interview with law enforcement analyst Jim Cavanaugh.

Greatest, latest parlor game: watching liberals pretzel-ize logic in arguing against a travel ban on people from Ebola-affected countries. We've noted a few examples here, here and here. Bill O’Reilly spent a significant part of his first segment tonight decrying the “racism” accusations being thrown by some MSNBC commentators amidst nationwide Ebola panic. O’Reilly did not directly call out MSNBC in his Talking Points Memo, but it was very clearly aimed at them, since he had teased the segment with a clip of Alex Wagner saying some Republican comments on Ebola, including calling for a travel ban is “not even thinly-veiled racism.” And that wasn’t the first time someone on MSNBC had invoked racism in talking about a travel ban; a guest on Melissa Harris-Perry‘s show did so...

The web page for MSNBC's The Cycle has the chutzpah to describe co-host Abby Huntsman as a "conservative." Whatever happened to truth in advertising? On today's episode, Huntsman again demonstrated why the conservative tag doesn't fit. As a guest offered up a laughably lame analogy in arguing against a travel ban on people from Ebola-affected countries, Huntsman was quick to weigh in with an approving comment. View the video here.

Here is video of conservative pundit Pat Buchanan on MSNBC yesterday making comments about Israel that are just amazing. Buchanan likens Israel's Ground Offensive in Gaza to the Nazi "blitzkrieg," actually using the word in describing it. He also went a step further and says that Gaza is an "Israeli concentration camp," where "cruelty" by Israel is taking place. Let's step back for a moment. I have always liked Pat Buchanan's analysis when he is talking about inside the Beltway political matters. He is a very good analyst on those things. But he has real blinders when it comes to...

Mistakes happen on the campaign trail. Any politician in the national spotlight is bound to make one or two. The mark of a truly skilled politician, however, is one who can take their lumps, adapt, move on, and rebound from that error. Texas Democratic gubernatorial candidate Wendy Davis is not a skilled politician.
