Many airlines are making efforts to be more inclusive. For example, earlier this year we saw airlines for the first time add a non-binary gender option when booking travel, including the option to select “X” as your gender (rather than “M” or “F”). Air Canada is largely a progressive airline, and La Presse reports on an internal memo that has been sent to employees. Currently Air Canada’s flight attendants, gate agents, and pilots, refer to passengers as “ladies and gentlemen” when making announcements, but they’ll soon be updating their phrasing to be more gender neutral.

Just 20 years ago, great white shark sightings were so rare in the North Atlantic that they were declared "vulnerable" and given protected status by the U.S. government. Now they are seen so often, and so close to shore, they are drawing a public outcry, particularly on Cape Cod. Bill Whitaker reports on the great white controversy for the 52nd season premiere of "60 Minutes" on Sunday, September 29 at 7:30 p.m. ET and 7 p.m. PT on CBS. It's true there are many more great whites now say scientists who study them. Whitaker saw them not much more than...

CHICAGO (WLS) -- Overdue library fines will now be a thing of the past for Chicago residents. Starting Tuesday, October 1, the Chicago Public Library will eliminate overdue fines for all CPL-owned items currently in circulation, per an announcement from Mayor Lori Lightfoot's office. The mayor's office said the move is meant remove barriers to basic library access especially for youth and low-income patrons. "Like too many Chicagoans, I know what it is like to grow up in financially-challenging circumstances and understand what it is like to be just one bill or one mistake away from crushing debt," said Mayor...

The story has invited more ridicule than sympathy: an Australian couple has been arrested in Iran after only traveling there in the first place to “try to break the stigma around travelling to countries which get a bad wrap [sic] in the media.” (snip) the responsibility for their plight lies not just with the Islamic Republic of Iran or ISIS, but also with the Leftist world in which they moved and lived. The Left’s leaders constructed a fantasy world, because Leftist ideas are dead on the drawing board without it. In this fantasy world, Islam is peace. Borders and nation-states...

A Tesla electric patrol car by the Fremont, California police department ran low on electricity in the middle of a pursuit, after the department said someone forgot to plug the vehicle into a charger. According to officials, the officer was pursuing a vehicle headed down to the southern part of the San Francisco Bay Area when the car began to run low on battery power.

...“We just heard from NASCAR on a number of gun-related ads and unfortunately, due to a gradual shift in NASCAR’s position on guns, these ads must be edited/changed—especially those that are depicted as assault-style rifles/sniper rifles. NASCAR is still open to some of the less controversial gun accessories, concealed carry, or classes.” Consider this, even if your audience was split 50-50 as to the issue of the Second Amendment, why would you intentionally alienate half of your base? Let’s take it to an extreme. What organization wants to intentionally anger even 10 percent of its base? I am sure much...

Being simultaneously comical and tragic, perhaps nothing reflects our descent into Idiocracy more than millennials who’ll insist their misspellings of words are correct. Just yesterday I read an eyebrow-raising story about this that was quite timely, as I’d experienced millennial spelling moronity just the day prior. My case involved a leftist who emailed me with some deep, substantive criticism: He said I was “insane,” “nuttier than a fruitcake” and “f*****g” nuts.” I responded to him. While I generally don’t play the spelling Nazi, leftists’ characteristic superciliousness inspired me to mention to him, kindly, that he’d written “you’re” as “your” three...

Many gun magazines have their flavor of gun bunnies showcasing inside the calendars, AR girls, etc.. Here's our short list of close-call gun accidents in the hot girl gun category. Sure, real gun folks often have better videos, but the hot girls sometimes wear bikinis. These girls simply can't handle a weapon, making them probably not the safest hands for a firearm to be in. There are many gun bunny FAILs out there in the wild internet. The girls on this list probably wish they didn't have someone posting these mishaps on social media, or probably hoped that they'd be...

CNN is reportedly set to impose a “net 90” payment term on freelance employees beginning in June, meaning the company’s freelancers will be paid just once every three months. “In a blow to their financial stability, CNN sent a letter to several of the network’s freelancers this week, extending their payment terms to net 90 (payment 90 days after invoice). The move has met with significant blowback. “Net 90 is NOT a reasonable payment term for people who must pay rent every 30 days,” Freelancers Union Executive Director Caitlin Pierce wrote on Thursday. “CNN is effectively asking freelancers to finance...

By now, the public is well aware of the “Green New Deal” proposed by freshman Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y. They have not responded well to calls for forced veganism and banning airplanes, let alone giving up the American way of life made possible by cheap energy. But while Ocasio-Cortez has taken the brunt of the media focus, environmental groups have developed a new strategy to get their way: pass a type of “Green New Deal” state by state.

Two staunch gun control advocates, HBO's Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel and Dick's Sporting Goods, got locked and loaded together for an assault on the Second Amendment last week. Real Sports reporter David Scott interviewed gun restrictions advocate Ed Stack, the CEO at Dick's Sporting Goods, to talk about why his business has discontinued sales of AR-15s. "I don't want it in our stores, and it will never be in our stores. I think the risk out-weighs the reward," Stack (in photo) told Scott, an Emmy Award-winning producer. Stack said, "This rifle has its genesis in war, and people can...

f the Big Apple is to become the Green Apple, it will have to ban the steel and glass towers that form its signature skyline, according to Mayor Bill de Blasio. De Blasio, speaking on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” said that city’s most iconic structures – the tall skyscrapers seen from miles away – are the “biggest source of emissions” in New York City. The drastic change, and a switch to only renewable energy within five years, are necessary for Gotham to embrace the Green New Deal, de Blasio said.

Last August, when she began her climate strike outside the Swedish parliament, 16-year-old Greta Thunberg was all alone. “I tried to bring people along to join me,” Thunberg recently told Rolling Stone, “but no one was really interested, and so I had to do it by myself.” But around the world, children and teenagers — worried about their future and exasperated by adults’ overwhelming failure to address climate change — soon took notice. Thousands joined Thunberg, now a nominee for the Nobel Peace Prize, on Friday, gathering at some 1,600 strike locations in more than 100 countries around the world...

Californians brag that their state is the world’s fifth-largest economy. They talk as reverentially of Silicon Valley companies Apple, Facebook and Google as the ancient Greeks did of their Olympian gods. Hollywood and universities such as Caltech, Stanford and Berkeley are cited as permanent proof of the intellectual, aesthetic and technological dominance of West Coast culture. Californians also see their progressive, one-party state as a neo-socialist model for a nation moving hard to the left. But how long will they retain such confidence? California’s 40 million residents depend on less than 1 percent of the state’s taxpayers to pay nearly...

WASHINGTON (AP) — Lawmakers appear increasingly nervous that Congress and the public won’t see a full report when special counsel Robert Mueller is finished with his Russia probe, including what the investigation finds about President Donald Trump.

President Trump says he is considering declaring an emergency at the border to unlock military funds to build a fence (a.k.a. wall). It’s not clear how serious he is, although anonymous White House aides have been quoted saying they believe this will be his ultimate way out of the shutdown fight. It’s a terrible idea. Even if it’s legal — which is unclear, at best — it would represent another unwelcome step in America’s long march toward unilateral government by the executive. The problem isn’t declaring an emergency. There is ample authority to do that and we live under a...

It's a long-agonized-over machine recount total delivered two minutes too late. But there's nothing ironic about it -- this is, after all, Florida's Broward County, which has been plagued with issues in its vote-counting efforts for years. Given that history, it was unsurprising -- but still galling to volunteers -- when the director of elections here revealed that the county had submitted its machine recount data two minutes after the state-mandated 3 p.m. Thursday deadline. The secretary of state's office did not accept the new numbers and so, after days of painstaking work, Broward's count Thursday remained the same as...

Music icon Neil Young finally acknowledged his marriage to actress Daryl Hannah — and then begged Americans to rock the vote next week. The "Harvest Moon" crooner reportedly tied the knot with the 57-year-old "Splash" actress back in August but hadn't commented on the union until casually mentioning it this week on his website. He referenced "my wife Daryl and I" in a plea to Americans to get out to the polls on Tuesday.
