In the days since the heinous terror attacks in Paris took 130 innocent lives and wounded hundreds more, Americans have flooded into gun stores to purchase new guns and sign up for concealed carry permit classes in their respective states. And those buying guns include many who have never owned a gun before.

President Obama hopes to make gun control the top issue of his final year in office, saying Americans aren’t more violent than other people but they “have more deadly weapons to act out their rage.†In an interview published Tuesday in GQ magazine, Mr. Obama said easy access to guns is “the only variable†between the U.S. and other developed countries. “The main thing that I’ve been trying to communicate over the last several of these horrific episodes is that, contrary to popular belief, Americans are not more violent than people in other developed countries,†Mr. Obama said. “But they...

MADISON –Today, Representative Subeck (D-Madison), along with Representatives Terese Berceau, Melissa Sargent and Chris Taylor, circulated an Assembly bill that would ban the transportation, purchase, possession, or transfer of semiautomatic assault weapons in Wisconsin. “Our nation has watched as community after community has had to confront the tragedies that occur when weapons designed to kill large numbers of people quickly get into the hands of a dangerous person,†said Representative Lisa Subeck. “No Wisconsin community should ever have to face such a tragedy at the hands of someone armed with a semiautomatic assault weapon.†Semiautomatic assault weapons are a class...

The radicals on the left wing of the Democrat Party continue to be the best friend of firearms manufacturers, importers and dealers, and their stated desire for gun confiscation has driven sales through the roof yet again. The Federal Bureau of Investigation processed a record number of background checks in the month of October, indicating that gun sales were at an all time high for the sixth month in a row. [..] Gun rights activists have pointed to Democrats' calls for new gun control measures as one reason why gun sales have increased. Democratic frontrunner Hillary Clinton has said that...

Well they would say that, wouldn’t they, what with the President’s post-Umpqau pronouncement that it’s more-than-OK to politicize the shooting. A statement he made before the bodies were even cold. Or the facts of the crime revealed. Not to mention his attaboy to the UK and Australia for their ban ‘n confiscate approach to mass shootings. The pro-gun side has taken this Tweet as an ominous sign that the President will act to take away Americans’ natural, civil and Constitutionally protected right to keep and bear arms . . .

The U.S. Supreme Court could announce as early as Tuesday whether it will hear a challenge to a suburban Chicago law banning firearms commonly known as assault weapons. If the court agrees to hear the case, it would cast a shadow over similar bans in seven states. But declining to take it up would boost efforts to impose such bans elsewhere, at a time of renewed interest in gun regulation after recent mass shootings. Gun rights advocates are challenging a 2013 law passed in Highland Park, Illinois, that bans the sale, purchase, or possession of semi-automatic weapons that can hold...

Meet the 46 U.S. Senators Guilty of Treason U.S. Attorney General Loretta Lynch just announced America’s partnership with the United Nations to initiate a “global police force.” Her efforts are consistent with other politicians who reject the Second Amendment, not to mention the first several articles of the U.S. Constitution. In April 2013 the U.N. General Assembly overwhelmingly approved the first international treaty written to regulate a $60 billion global small arms trade. Only Iran, Syria, and North Korea opposed the treaty. In opposition to Obama and Kerry, the U.S. Senate voted 53-46 against the United Nations (U.N.) Arms Trade...

Senate Democrats will begin a campaign to combat gun violence on Thursday as party leaders prepare to unveil a sweeping package of legislation that builds on their failed 2013 attempt to require universal background checks for gun purchases, according to senators and aides. The goal is to have the entire caucus, minus perhaps one centrist Democrat, backing a legislative package aimed at preventing guns from ending up in the hands of the wrong people. In addition to background checks, Democrats are aiming to add new money for the Justice Department’s existing background checks system that has recently faltered and include...

When President Obama spoke in reaction to the heinous October 1 attack on Umpqua Community College, he went beyond his usual calls for more gun control and suggested instead that America consider following the path blazed by Australia and Great Britain. In the mid-1990s Australia and Great Britain both instituted what were virtually complete bans on firearm possession.Obama referenced the bans thus: We know that other countries, in response to one mass shooting, have been able to craft laws that almost eliminate mass shootings. Friends of ours, allies of ours — Great Britain, Australia, countries like ours. So we know...

Passing tougher laws to help prevent gun violence remains a high priority for President Obama, the White House said Thursday after reports of a mass shooting resulting in multiple casualties. “The issue of sensible steps that can be taken to protect our communities from gun violence continues to be a top priority of this administration,” press secretary Josh Earnest told reporters. Up to 10 people were killed at shooting at a community college in Oregon, according to reports. Obama was briefed on the shooting by homeland security adviser Lisa Monaco and will receive updates throughout the day, according to a...

A slightly more than one minute long commercial citing Texas history has been banned from the airwaves. “Come and Take It” by Steve Vaus and OurGuns.org, points to a time in history when people living in the town of Gonzales Texas refused to be disarmed. In 1835 the president of Mexico, Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna, appointed himself dictator and ordered the Mexican military to disarm Texans whenever possible. Included in his disarmament attempt was the recall of a cannon the Mexican government had given a few years before to the town of Gonzales. In response, Joseph Clements, a Gonzales...

We should be absolutely clear about what Delaney is arguing here: He is a) agreeing with Jefferson that “laws and institutions must go hand in hand with the progress of the human mind,” b) contending that “progress” suggests that the individual right to keep and bear arms is now counterproductive, and c) concluding that it is time therefore to make a “change in law and constitution” — in other words, to repeal the Second Amendment. This, it is true, is not a mainstream position on the American Left — at least, it is not one that is argued openly. But...

Secretary of State John Kerry Secretary of State John Kerry once again signed the United Nations Arms Treaty on Wednesday, a move that supporters say will help stop weapons from getting into the hands of criminals and terrorists worldwide but critics contend is is a backdoor assault on law-abiding gun owners. The treaty would require nations to conduct a detailed registration of all guns. The issue is dead on arrival in the U.S. Senate, but one of the leading experts on guns says even if the agreement is only ratified in other countries, it can still work to erode...

On August 24 officials from the Obama administration will be attending the UN Arms Trade Treaty (ATT) conference in Mexico City. The ATT was signed by Secretary of State John Kerry on September 25, 2013 but never ratified by the US Senate. Nevertheless, Gun Owners of America reports that Obama officials will be in Mexico City for the conference. Breitbart News previously reported that the ATT is an international gun control treaty designed to be implemented apart from, or in spite of, the general framework of governance for countries that are signatories to it. Thus, while it will not do...

When Obama spoke to BBC last week he stressed his frustration over not being able to secure more gun control and suggested that the guns outweigh terrorism as a threat to Americans’ safety. Obama’s exact words: “If you look at the number of Americans killed since 9/11 by terrorism, it’s less than 100. If you look at the number that have been killed by gun violence, it’s in the tens of thousands.” In the lead up to this statement, Obama mentioned “mass killings” with guns but did not mention mass killings or attempted mass killings in which those holding the...

New York state has some of the toughest gun laws in the country. Compliance with those laws is another matter. New York passed a broad package of gun regulations after the school shooting in Newtown, Conn., despite the objections of hunters and gun rights advocates. Now it appears that many gun owners are refusing to comply with a key provision that requires the registration of so-called assault weapons. "I think this law was so incredibly repressive that it drove people to the point now that they're basically saying we're not going to abide by any more laws," says Brian Olesen,...

Vets targeted, then Social Security recipients, then those with student loans and ... It began with letters from the Veterans Administration informing returning veterans they were being declared incompetent and someone would be appointed to handle their financial affairs. The veterans then were told they, consequently, could no longer own weapons. Now the same plan is being considered for recipients of Social Security, the Los Angeles Times said. The paper said the Obama administration is pushing to ban Social Security beneficiaries from owning guns if they “lack the mental capacity to manage their own affairs.” The report describes to the...

ISLAMABAD (AP) — The outages began early Sunday morning. Authorities gave no estimate for how many people the blackout affected, though electricity went out in nearly every major city in this country of 180 million people. A spokesman for the Ministry of Water and Power, Zafaryab Khan, said a militant attack on a transmission tower in the southwestern Baluchistan province cause the blackout. Khan said that caused a power surge that eventually affected wide swaths of the power distribution system.

The National Rifle Association’s annual leadership conference is always a treasure trove of GOP smack-talk and an all-out constitutional liturgy — and if Friday night’s viral talking points are any indication, this year’s celebration ranks further right on the political spectrum than usual. Not that that’s surprising: it is the run-up year to a presidential election cycle, which means that the Republican machine was churning out even more harsh allegations than usual. Of course, one of the biggest showboats of the night was Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, who told political opponent Hillary Clinton to “come and take” away his guns,...

When I was 15 I was almost murdered. That's what I was told by another teenager who rode his rusty BMX bike to the McDonald's in my Pittsburgh neighborhood to confront me. "I'm going to kill your black a**!" he screamed, wobbling his bike between his legs. I chuckled, as I often do when another black person calls me black, because, well, they're black as well.
