If you sit down at a major national restaurant chain nowadays, you might be greeted by a sign, banner, or tabletop tent quoting some questionable statistics, and warning you that there is hunger in America. They quote a study (out of context) reporting that one in six American children “experiences” hunger at least sometimes. “That’s 13 million children, the population of Illinois” as the tabletop tent at lunch exclaimed to me, constantly, as I ate my lunch. This brings to mind a flood of questions, among them: Is it true? If so, Why? And What can or should we do...

Question for old car experts: Last year, on the passing of my father-in-law, my wife and I inherited his 1948 Packard. The car was in excellent shape but had not been driven for a fee years. We now have the car back in full working order and have noticed something very cool: At about 60 MPH the car occasionally sets into a rolling motion (clockwise from wheel to wheel, front to rear). The motion is subtle, but very cool. I asked the mechanic about it and his comment was: 'Congratulations, enjoy it!' He did not elaborate. Can any freepers shed...

The music industry is currently in need of a fresh injection, and a much-needed overhaul. The industry currently takes 86% of artist’s takings. Music creatives often find themselves ignored by Media conglomerates, lacking that exposure and funding to help propel the avenue to gain them recognition for their art. The music industry is in need of a system that provides clarity for the contributors and offers an honest platform to interact with the artists and fans. This is why this writer is passionate about Potentiam, a new project created to give a voice to music artists, writers, influencers, and the...

Attention UC Berkeley administrators! Please explain which part(s) of Ben Shapiro’s speech would require people to receive counseling. Below is Ben Shapiro’s recent speech at UC Berkeley. The speech makes up the first 28 minutes of the video, and I watched all of it. (The rest of the video is a Q&A, which I did not watch.)UC Berkeley is offering counseling for anyone who was traumatized by Shapiro’s speech.I didn’t detect anything in the speech that would require anyone to receive counseling. But that’s just me.To the administrators in charge of running UC Berkeley: please point out which part(s) of the...

I’d like to thank social justice warriors for drawing my attention to Ben Shapiro’s excellent speech at UC Berkeley Although I’ve watched plenty of brief clips of Ben Shapiro at YouTube in the past, I’d never before watched an entire speech of his. However, after social justice warriors tried to prevent him from speaking at UC Berkeley, I decided to watch the entire thing. And here it is:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aP_9cRUzqMwThe speech itself makes up only the first 28 minutes of the video. I watched the entire 28 minutes. And I loved it. (The rest of the video is a Q&A, which I did not watch.)So...

Video shows protestors in the street shouting “No justice, no peace!” for a dead, black Chicago teenager, because security video showed her walking, by herself, into a hotel’s walk-in freezer before she died In the video below, protestors in the street are shouting “No justice, no peace!” for Kenneka Jenkins, a dead, black Chicago teenager, because security video showed her walking, by herself, into a hotel’s walk-in freezer before she died. I’m not sure exactly who the protestors are protesting against. But hey, justice is important, and I hope whoever is responsible for this will get prosecuted to the fullest...

It's funny how most people come to the conclusion musicians are the least funded in the music industry or the general consensus is focused on music artists receiving support. This is so far from the truth as people sometimes forget about the music writers and bloggers. It's like they do not even exist. Though in actual fact they pour a tremendous amount of creativity into their art, just like the musicians and even more so at times.

"I think that today there isn’t enough music that makes people happy”, says Ollie Gabriel as he breaks onto the scene with this upbeat and soulful hit full of hope and defiance. 'Running Man' is an infectious song that begins with the bright chords of keyboards which reflect the feel-good factor of the singer’s vocals which are rich timber and full of raw emotion. The electronic beats feel like the listener is running with this talented star. Some of you may be familiar with this tune because it has featured on ads, MTV, NBC and TNT.

PRECEPT is an exciting new British electronic artist who he has just released his new EP 'Absence'. With his orchestral music being featured on TV screens around the world, Precept decided to switch it up and blend electronic and alternative influences from which his 2016 debut EP 'Ghosts' was born which incorporated analog synthesizers and downtempo beats. And this year comes 'Absence' which Precept created fully himself from the composition, recording to mixing and mastering. Surging waves and floaty atmospherics with deftly layered vocals and rolling basslines wash over you. Hints of Precept's orchestral background peek through in various tracks...

There are milestones in life – personal, educational, religious – these may be birthdays, school graduations, wedding anniversaries, baptisms and first communions and bar mitzvahs. So many personal dates to remember – but they are worth remembering, because they are so meaningful to us. Even the sad ones are worth remembering; the day we lost a friend or family member to cancer or accidental death, or old age. By the same token, there are milestones in history. The date of a declaration of war or of the peace treaty that ended it; the day our Founding Fathers signed our Declaration...

Poll: Did Michelle Obama set back feminism when she told a job interviewer that her husband was running for U.S. Senate? I recently came across this Michelle Obama quote from Parade magazine:I took my last job [before my husband entered the White House] because of my boss’s reaction to my family situation. I didn’t have a babysitter, so I took Sasha right in there with me in her crib and her rocker. I was still nursing, so I was wearing my nursing shirt. I told my boss, “This is what I have: two small kids. My husband is running for the...

NBC News came under fire on social media on Saturday after making an unsavory observation about Hurricane Irma’s path and properties in Florida that belong to President Donald Trump. The tweet “Irma locked and loaded towards several Trump properties,” the tweet read, linking to an NBC news story. The story notes that three of Trump’s 12 golf courses in the United States are located in the path of Irma. In addition, the story states that Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort in West Palm Beach is also located in the hurricane’s path.
