So yeah, I saw a few Ospreys while walking a couple hours ago. They were pretty damn low for military planes. Anybody know if the Marines are doing maneuvers around here, or if someone is visiting?
President Trump is in NYC for his meeting at the United Nations tomorrow. He spent the weekend here at his golf club in Bedminster, NJ.
President Trump and many world leaders headed to NYC for UN meetings.
We have a lot of ospreys here. They make big nests at the tops of power poles and they make big messes on cars that park under them.
Sound and look totally unique in the “airplane” mode. Still sounds like an unusual helicopter, but is fast.
UN General Assembly this week.
LOL - That was my first thought when first seeing only the headline.
Yes, you will see a lot of ospreys around Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge. The park rangers provide them with nesting platforms on top of tall poles. It’s fascinating to watch them hunt for fish and then bring back food for their babies.
I saw a warthog from my back yard today...
The MILITARY Osprey have a very unique sound. I am used to helicopters,as I was in the Army, and I can always hear one and recognize the type coming.I run outside like I did as a kid to watch a low one or multiple ones. The time a tandem of Ospreys flew by low was house shaking and very cool. I have no idea why they were around here in NJ at the time and our military traffic is Joint Base McMguire/Dix/Lakehurst.

Loose lips sink ships.
I saw one flying low in full airplane mode along the freeway about 5 years ago. Those things are cool looking but also odd with those huge propellers all the way forward to make speed.
I think it would be a real hoot to be a pilot or co-pilot on one. The old Harrier jets were awesome too but real loud. Used to watch them land on a ship I was stationed on decades ago. Really something to see because the ship is moving and sometimes it’s moving up and down with swells so the pilot had to time it just right while matching the speed of the ship to land vertically. Highly skilled pilots.
Re your comment about American wildlife
I had the same reaction when I read that headline.
Oh shoot. I thought you were talking about the birds at first.
