An Orange County sheriff’s deputy has been accused of firing two shots into a fleeing vehicle that he had tailgated and tried to block while off duty Monday. William Pine, 49, of Brookfield now faces two counts of attempted aggravated assault. He serves as a deputy for the Orange County Sheriff’s Department, according to the Vermont State Police. He has been placed on administrative leave, according to the department. State police said the incident occurred in Williamstown at about 7:45 p.m. Monday. Two men — 41-year-old Kevin Goodale of Brookfield and 37-year-old Nathan Lyonnais of Barton — told troopers they...

The Coming War on China, from award winning journalist John Pilger, reveals what the news doesn’t – that the world’s greatest military power, the United States, and the world’s second economic power, China, both nuclear-armed, may well be on the road to war. Nuclear war is not only imaginable, but planned. The greatest build-up of NATO military forces since the Second World War is under way on the western borders of Russia. On the other side of the world, the rise of China is viewed in Washington as a threat to American dominance. To counter this, President Obama announced a...

The idea is surprisingly old school. This company wants to modernize it. Launching into space is more popular than ever. But the big companies often come with big price tags. That allows for smaller competitors to try and break into smaller markets. Leo Aerospace wants to launch microsatellites from a surprising place: hot air balloons. Sending balloons close to the atmosphere has some history in the military, but reusability is a big challenge for the group. So is funding. The second space race is in full effect. And while well-heeled organizations like SpaceX and Blue Origin often hog the headlines,...

An intense, action-packed new trailer for Sam Mendes' World War One epic 1917 was released on Thursday. Giving fans an extended look at the hotly-anticipated film, the trailer opens with an ominous claim from Benedict Cumberbatch's as-yet-untitled character that 'hope is a dangerous thing.' It follows two soldiers, George MacKay's Schofield and Dean-Charles Chapman's Blake, who are tasked with an impossible mission to save the lives of 1600 men.

It blended in well with grandma's couch, but had its drawbacks in the combat zone. After an extended wear-out period, the Army's pixelated Universal Camouflage Pattern uniform, or UCP, is officially a thing of the past. As of Oct. 1, all soldiers are required to possess and wear the green-and-brown Operational Camouflage Pattern uniform, or OCP.

The Reliant, an action film coming to select theaters on October 24, is not a typical faith-based film and the secular community is taking notice. It was made apparent when the Motion Picture Association of America gave it an R rating. Although it had no foul language or sex scenes, and less violence than Disney movies given a PG-13 rating, the screenwriter and producer of the film, Dr. J. P. Johnston, had to appeal to the MPAA to get it changed. The hate mail the producers have received and the trash articles written by those opposed to the film’s nod...

Since 2012, I've been a frequent visitor to the People's Republic of China. With 52 red stamps on my passport to prove it, I'm still mystified by the incongruities that jump out at me as a Westerner. IÂ’ve come to accept that plenty of contradictions about China will never make sense to the Western mindset. Yet China, whose Communist Party government turns 70 today, marches on, contradictions and all. The same China thatÂ’s famous for its human rights violations is the China that lifted more than 800 million people out of poverty as per capita GDP rose from $89 in...

I have been working on a knowledge base of topics related to prepping and SHTF situations. It is geared towards making people more self sufficient with topics ranging from unarmed self defense to small space gardening to how to sew your own clothes. I'm one of those types of people who believe that we are going to go out with a whimper, not a bang, so there is a lot of content on how to do your own repairs, build your own stuff and live a more frugal lifestyle. In order to get access you need to send me a...

The two BMD airborne infantry fighting vehicles used to be eight feet tall. Emphasis on used to be. Russia’s army airborne forces faced a setback this week when the parachutes of two BMD armored vehicles malfunctioned, sending them plunging toward the ground. The vehicles were destroyed on impact. Luckily, there are no reports of injuries. The incident took place during Russia’s Center-2019 military exercises and involved paratroopers from the famous 98th Guards Airborne Svirskaya Red Banner Airborne Division. The exercise, as reported by the BMPD military blog, involved the mass drop of the entire 217th Airborne Regiment. The airdrop involved...

EDWARDS AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. — The U.S. Air Force is testing an improved, vegan version of the classic Cold War throwback weapon napalm, according to Air Force officials. The new weapon is expected to be able to burn the enemies of the United States to death while assuaging serious moral and environmental concerns. “Napalm is just a mix of a gelling agent and a volatile petrochemical,” said Louie Fleischer, a supervisory technical support specialist with the 96th Test Wing. “Historically, we’ve used animal-based gels. But now that the Department of Defense systemically rejects the commodity status of animals, we are...

Tourists could fly from Britain to Australia in just four hours by the 2030s with a new hypersonic engine being developed by UK scientists, the head of the UK Space Agency has said. Reaction Engines, who are based in Oxfordshire, are in the process of building a hybrid hydrogen air-breathing rocket that will allow a plane to fly at Mach 5.4 - more than twice the speed of Concorde - then speed up to to Mach 25 in space. Not only would the new ‘Sabre’ engine allow speedier journeys - with a flight between London and New York slashed to...

The B-52H fleet, already nearly 60 years old, has been the recipient of a steady but slow stream of upgrades to keep the planes useful. The Air Force is now committing to flying the bomber into the 2050s, a feat that will require even more improvements. The U.S. Air Force ordered 102 B-52H bombers during the Cold War, with the first planes delivered in May 1961. The old eight-engined warhorse has been in continuous service ever since, flying combat missions over the former Yugoslavia, Iraq, and Afghanistan. The Air Force plans to keep flying the remaining 76 B-52Hs through 2050,...

As a NAVY Veteran, I have one question about this whole Biden/Ukraine. How was it possible for Hunter Biden to have worked with the Ukraine Government as a Foreign Agent, when he was kicked out of the Naval Reserves (were he was a Public Affairs Officer and Lt.) for drug usage in 2014? I haven't been able to find out, what type of discharge Hunter Biden received, as most enlisted members of the would receive a Bad Conduct Discharge-(Big Chicken Dinner), if they were to fail a urine test due to cocaine usage. Also, if memory serves, wasn't Hunter Biden...

Three Navy sailors assigned to the USS George H.W. Bush aircraft carrier killed themselves last week in separate incidents, officials said Monday. The commanding officer of the carrier, which is docked at the Norfolk Naval Shipyard in Virginia, announced the deaths in a post on the ship’s Facebook page Monday. “It is with a heavy heart that I can confirm the loss of three Sailors last week in separate, unrelated incidents from apparent suicide. My heart is broken,” Capt. Sean Bailey wrote in the announcement. None of the deaths occurred on the carrier, which is docked at the shipyard for...

The ability to deploy twenty-three ships in five days, including four that had been identified in March 2019 as “Not Mission Capable,” is a questionable achievement. The ships that sailed on Saturday can transport 3.3 million square feet of cargo, 24 barges, 7,000 containers, and provide a repair base for a Marine Corps aviation wing. However, the successful departures do not mean all is well with the surge sealift fleet. It is not definitively known what caused the delays or how the ships performed once clear of the sea buoys.
