I have been working on a knowledge base of topics related to prepping and SHTF situations. It is geared towards making people more self sufficient with topics ranging from unarmed self defense to small space gardening to how to sew your own clothes. I'm one of those types of people who believe that we are going to go out with a whimper, not a bang, so there is a lot of content on how to do your own repairs, build your own stuff and live a more frugal lifestyle. In order to get access you need to send me a PM then I will give you a link and an access code. Once you're in you can find a directory list in each folder. You can download 1 file or everything there in one big zip file. You would need to have some basic book readers and, for 1 section, an MP3 player all which can be found for free. It's been up and running for a few months now and plenty of people have visited it and lived to tell the tale :-) If you're interested send me a PM and I will send you the link and crypto key.
This is a monthly posting.

Last Friday we were supposed to leave for a nice getaway to Bruges and Brussels. Instead on Tuesday my wife went into the hospital. They did some tests and didn't like what they saw so on Thursday they transferred her to a bigger hospital to run more tests, and she's still there. Because of that I have been spending each day from 9am until around 11pm at the hospital, plus an 80km 1 hour commute each way. That doesn't give me a lot of time to work on adding users but I will get to you as soon as I can. So please have a little patience and I will add you.

Do they still teach anything like what we used to call ‘home economics’ in school?
From a ‘prep’ standpoint, one of the most useful classes I ever took was a combo cooking/sewing class in Jr. High School. (You only need about an hour or two of instruction to be able to sew useful clothing...)

Are you an ex-pat in Belgium? We live in Spain. My wife is a British citizen who lived with me in America for 10+ years. When I wanted to retire we chose Spain to be close to her family without the nasty British weather. We live an hour from the 3rd busiest airport in Spain so it is easy to catch low cost flights all around Europe. After relaxing in the sun and gardening traveling is our big leisure activity.

Sounds like the good life. I lived in West Berlin in the 60’s and have an undying fascination and affection for Europe. Hate to see it going to hell.

I think it would have been a good idea for both girls and boys to always learn both.
I married a much younger man, and he got Home Ec. AND Shop (which combination they didn't offer to both sexes in my day ) and he appreciated and learned a lot from both.
(But he dropped out of Boy Scouts, because it became too 'femme' for him.)

I was in middle school from 1998 - 2001, and we had to take the full three years of HomeEc, boys included. I’m not sure what it’s like now, though.

Were you required to take something like we used to call ‘shop’ - training in something like carpentry or electricity?

Prayers for your wife (and you) during this trying time. Spent many an hour in years past with a chronically ill family member. Just to get some rest when you can.
