Phase II of the Marvel comic book cinematic universe is going to involve a few less of our classic superheros in favor of a bold new array of diverse and inclusive characters. Yes, Marvel’s going a lot more ethnic, and a lot more gay because what’s cooler than finding out that your new favorite Avenger enjoys his skintight latex suit for far more than just crime-fighting purposes?

‘I lost the kid,” Tony Stark says bluntly at the start of Avengers: Endgame. We all lost the kid, and miss him: Spider-Man. We miss Black Panther and Falcon and Nick Fury and Doctor Strange, too. We’re missing a lot in this movie. Half of all living creatures were extinguished by the mega-Malthusian Thanos at the end of Avengers: Infinity War. Picture a global 9/11, 9/11 times a million.

"Avengers: Endgame" is finally here. The epic grand finale of the Marvel Cinematic Universe chapter was officially unveiled at the world premiere Monday night at the Los Angeles Coliseum. As the lights went up, the thundering ovation started and the entire cast gathered under the screen to take a bow in front of an audience of fans including Matt Damon and Kevin Hart. "I cried like six times," Chris Evans (Captain America) told the audience. “I cried, I think more than 6 times,” added Chris Hemsworth (Thor). While the full movie reviews will come in Tuesday, the first social media...

“Captain Marvel” has made more than $1 billion worldwide, and one man can lay claim to contributing more to that box-office haul than anyone else in the world: Steve Ruppel of Wisconsin. After setting a Guinness World Record by seeing Brie Larson’s superhero drama 104 times at the Marcus Cedar Creek Cinema in Rothschild 104 times, the apparent super fan went back 12 more times for good measure. “I thought it was the most insane thing ever, I thought it was impossible,” Ruppel told local news station WSAW of his feat. “I wasn’t even sure why it was even a...

Marvel's Avengers: Endgame will get the summer movie season off to an early start at the end of April, with the superhero blockbuster already tracking for a massive debut. New box office tracking numbers put Avengers: Endgame's three-day box office debut between $200 million and $250 million, according to The Hollywood Reporter. While even the high end of those projections put it just short of Avengers: Infinity War's opening weekend record of $257.6 million last April, it's still possible that the film could break the record.

“Captain Marvel” became the 2019 box office’s first $1 billion hit on Wednesday, along with being the seventh film from Marvel Studios and the 38th film of all time to hit that 10-digit benchmark. Unlike past Marvel Studios hits that have grossed $1 billion, “Captain Marvel” was the first to do so with a lead character who wasn’t introduced in a previous Marvel film. Even “Black Panther,” the highest-grossing film of the 2018 domestic box office, had its Wakandan superhero introduced in “Captain America: Civil War.” “Captain Marvel” did have the presence of Samuel L. Jackson’s fan favorite Nick Fury,...

Avengers: Endgame tickets went on sale today with Atom Tickets reporting that in the first hour, the Marvel movie has set a record for the mobile ticket retailer. To date, Avengers: Endgame has sold three times more tickets on Atom in the first hour of pre-sales than Avengers: Infinity War did last year. The first hour of Avengers: Endgame presales also outstrips Atom’s first hour sales for Star Wars: The Last Jedi. Fandango is also reporting strong sales for the Russo Brothers-directed sequel. In addition, the frenzy for Avengers: Endgame tickets is so huge, it’s crashing sites. Ticket buyers are...

Chris Evans, Avenger and overall number one Chris, may have to snap his finger and turn his Tom Brady fandom into dust if the superstar quarterback continues to support President Donald Trump. The revelation came in a wide-ranging interview with The Hollywood Reporter, pegged to the upcoming Avengers: Endgame which is projected to make roughly a bajillion dollars at the box office this summer. When asked if he would play Brady in a biopic, Evans, who has been vocal about his love of the Patriots, said: "I don't know," he says. "I really hope he's not a Trump supporter. I'm...

My daughter loves the Marvel Universe, but I grew up with D.C. comics. I remember in the 70s watching the old "SuperFriends" cartoons as a kid. I've always thought D.C. had better heroes. But I have to admit Marvel has the better movies and storylines. Which do you prefer?

A petition launched today by LifeSiteNews is demanding that Marvel Studios not indoctrinate children with homosexual ideology by rumoredly introducing a homosexual main character in an upcoming superhero film. On March 7, Marvel chief of production Victoria Alonso told Variety magazine, “The world is ready” for an “LGBT superhero.” She averred at the premiere of “Captain Marvel” that Marvel Studios is committed to “diversity.” Studio president Kevin Feige said in an interview with ET that the idea was "percolating" at the Studios. Earlier, “That Hashtag Show” website reported rumors that an “openly gay” man will be cast as the lead...

Redemption and second chances have long been superhero movie staples, and today it looks like life has imitated art. I’ve learned that Disney has reinstated James Gunn as the writer-director of Guardians of the Galaxy 3, and I’ve confirmed it with Marvel and Gunn’s camp. The decision to rehire Gunn –he was fired last July by Disney after alt-right journalists made public a fusillade of decade old social media missives that made light of pedophilia and rape — was one that was mulled and actually made months ago, following conversations with Disney studio leadership and the team at Marvel Studios....

The production chief for Marvel Studios has added fuel to rumors that its next on-screen leading man will be same-sex attracted. On March 1, the “That Hashtag Show” website published a rumor that an “openly gay” man will be cast as the lead of Marvel Studios’ 2020 superhero movie "The Eternals." “As Marvel Studios begins its search for the cast of the 2020 feature film, 'The Eternals,' we at 'That Hashtag Show' have learned that they are looking to cast an openly gay actor for a lead role in the film,” Charles Murphy wrote. According to Murphy, Marvel Studios president...

At this point in time Captain Marvel is eyeing a $63.5M Friday, including her $20.7M Thursday night haul. That figure is just under Beauty and the Beast‘s first day of $63.77M (which turned around a $174.7M opening, the best ever in March), and under Batman v. Superman‘s Good Friday haul of $81.55M on March 25, 2016 which grossed a 3-day of $166M. Beauty and the Beast reps the top opening for March, followed by BvS, and then The Hunger Games with $152.5M, which it looks like Captain Marvel is beating. Where does this put Captain Marvel stateside? Industry estimates predict...

In last year’s Midterm race for seats in the United States House of Representatives, Anti-GamerGate personality and Revolution 60 developer Brianna Wu ran as a Democratic candidate in the primary election for Massachuset’s 8th Congressional District. Despite her political inexperience, Wu garnered 22.9% of the district’s vote (16,878 votes out of a total of 73,582), but ultimately lost the election to her incumbent opponent, Stephen Lynch. As the 2020 United States House of Representatives elections rapidly approach, Wu has once again announced her candidacy, which will feature a heavy emphasis on government regulation concerning internet relations. On March 6th, Wu...

Just saw Captain Marvel. There was no overt social justice content. Just that she's a resilient woman. Her back story is about as touching as you're going to get in a super hero origin film. In that regard, think of Captain America's first movie for a similar emotional impact. This is more than Captain Marvel's origin story, it's also the back story for Nick Fury and Agent Coulson. You kind of can't go wrong with a movie that features Samuel L. Jackson. Anyone who's been following the MCU will be fascinated watching the revealed history, and then the 2 scenes...

A new rumor has landed online that echoes my own concerns about the Captain Marvel movie and Brie Larson, but this is claimed to be coming from on top -- as high as Disney CEO Bob Iger. The rumor claims that the Avengers cast, or certain members of the Avengers cast, is unhappy with Brie Larson being the face of the MCU going forward. It's said one particular actress - hinted at it being Elizabeth Olsen - feels that they are getting pushed aside, that they are getting treated differently.

Marvel are reportedly looking to cast their first openly gay superhero, and fans have already suggested who could take over the role. Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige hinted that the studio was working towards bringing a new LGBTQ character into the Marvel Cinematic Universe last year, and now it's been claimed that casting has opened. According to the That Hashtag Show, Marvel are on the hunt for an actor who will play the lead role in their 2020 feature film The Eternals.
