Calling all Freeper guitarists. I am looking into buying a beginner's guitar for myself. I am wanting to spend around $200. I am only interested in an acoustic guitar at this time. My musical tastes range from classic rock, old school country, to some blues. I have sort of narrowed down my choices to a couple of guitars, the Yamaha FG800 (https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/FG800?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIrOjvwfWx1wIVSY1-Ch2w3wK8EAAYASAAEgL1h_D_BwE) and the Ibanez AW50 OPN (https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/AW54OPN?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIj-Tht_Wx1wIVw19-Ch2vHwtwEAAYASAAEgLViPD_BwE). I was wondering if any of y'all had any experience with either of those and could possibly make a recommendation, or possibly a suggestion for something else. Any and all advice is...

In a recent interview with CNN about his so-called LGBT ministry, Jesuit priest Fr. James Martin expressed discontent with how the Holy Father has responded to sex abuse.  In a televised interview on Tuesday, the pro-gay Jesuit celebrity priest spoke with CNN's Christiane Amanpour. She asked Fr. Martin about the priest sex abuse scandal. She noted that traditionalists are discontent with the pope but so are liberals.  Father Martin agreed that Pope Francis has fallen short of handling sex abuse, especially regarding bishops who cover up abusive priests. He said, "You have priests who are removed immediately, but what do you with bishops? And...

Pro-gay Jesuit Fr. James Martin will be giving two speeches at the Catholic cathedral in Chicago, and faithful Catholics will be outside the cathedral praying and protesting. Father Martin will be speaking at Chicago's Holy Name Cathedral on Thursday, March 22, and Friday, March 23. Both events will begin at 7 PM. Catholic organization Tradition, Family and Property (TFP) will be outside Holy Name Cathedral, praying a Rosary of reparation and protesting Fr. Martin's presence. They will be there 6–7:30 PM on Thursday, March 22.  In September 2017 after Fr. Martin had several speaking gigs canceled, the archdiocese of Chicago extended a...

  • [Catholic Caucus] St. Peter Damian: Gay Clergy ‘Are Deserving of Death’

In his zealous letter penned in 1049, famously titled The Book of Gomorrah, St. Peter Damian admonishes bishops to stamp out the "epidemic of sodomy among the priests of Italy," which was part of a "plague of sexual perversion" and a "larger crisis of moral laxity in the priesthood" of his time. In his letter, St. Peter decried the silent bishops who failed to take action against clerics immersed in the grievous moral perversion of sodomy: Listen, you do-nothing superiors of clerics and priests. Listen, and even though you feel sure of yourselves, tremble at the thought that you are partners in...
  • [Catholic Caucus] Fr. James Martin: ‘People take the Bible…out of context’ on homosexuality

The Bible’s condemnation of homosexual acts should be taken in “context” with Biblical times, Jesuit Father James Martin told Georgetown University students recently. Martin said as well that Catholics who support gay “marriage” should have no problem considering themselves Catholic, despite having chosen to reject Church teaching. Martin inferred at his January 31 appearance at the Jesuit school that the Bible’s negative pronouncements on homosexual acts – which are grounded in natural law – are like other Biblical declarations on topics such as the practice of charging interest on a loan. These pronouncements being made during a particular epoch renders...
  • [Catholic Caucus] Fr. Martin at Odds With Pope Benedict XVI Over Same-Sex Marriage

When Pope Benedict XVI went to Fatima, Portugal, in 2010 he denounced abortion and same-sex marriage, calling them, "some of today's most insidious and dangerous threats to the common good." Father Martin, however, called Pope Benedict's comments on same-sex marriage bizarre: Pope Benedict XVI's comments last week in Fatima, Portugal, in which he stated that abortion and same-sex marriage, were "some of today's most insidious and dangerous threats" to the common good seemed oddly discordant. The equation of abortion, something that clearly is about a threat to life, with same-sex marriage — which no matter how you look at it, does...

When it was announced last year that Fr. James Martin, SJ, was being brought in as a “consultor” to the Vatican’s communications team, reactions were predictably on a spectrum ranging from deeply perplexed to blood-vessel bursting outrage. Known for his role as editor-at-large for the far-left Catholic rag America Magazine as well as his boundary-pushing views on the Church and homosexuality, Fr. Martin is the kind of name that gets an instant reaction when brought up in any conversation. And among orthodox Catholics, it’s decidedly not a positive one. Fr. Martin became the second high-profile Jesuit to join the Vatican’s propaganda arm,...

Clericalism is Alive and Well in Amchurch! Does Fr. Martin follow the Holy Spirit or the Spirit of this world? I'm always amused by accusations that orthodox Catholics who uphold the teachings of the Church are filled with fear, hatred, homophobia, anger, and are bullies, raging maniacs...well, you get the picture. James Martin, also known as "Father," a Jesuit sadly reflective of the state to which that order has fallen, recently had another talk cancelled. It was due to the "haters" who run nasty, evil, vilifying...well you get the picture... websites and blogs that (sniff, sniff) result in the "censorship"...

James Martin, S.J. has had a conference cancelled at a parish. It has been moved to a private venue. Below the picture below of a recent Tweet, is his comment on the matter on his Facebook page. He refers to those who oppose his dissent from the faith being promoted in our parishes as "hate mongers and bullies."  Full disclosure: I do not hate anyone suffering from same-sex attraction. I have three friends, all who formerly engaged in same-sex behaviour and have all overcome it. One is married to a woman. The other two are celibate and chaste faithful men....

A Catholic diocese in New Jersey is canceling a talk offered by Fr. James Martin, S.J., best known for his attempts to normalize homosexuality. The celebrity Jesuit had been scheduled to offer a Lenten reflection on February 15, at Our Lady of Lourdes parish in the diocese of Metuchen. The diocese announced Martin's speaking engagement this month in its newspaper, The Catholic Spirit. The communications director for the diocese of Metuchen, Erin Friedlander, confirmed with Church Militant on Friday that the parish "is no longer hosting the planned talk." According to the inside source, the invitation had originated in the...

In a recent interview, James Martin, S.J., clearly implied (by repeating gay-advocacy talking-points) that language in “The Catechism of the Catholic Church” directly contributes to the high level of teen suicides among LGBT young people. [Interviewer] Well the people who’ve seen your book or know something about you are complaining that you want to rewrite some of the Catechism to differently ordered, can you speak about that. [Martin] Yeah, well part of the Catechism says that homosexual people are objectively disordered; their actions are objectively disordered and they themselves are intrinsically disordered. And so basically what I’m saying in the book is you...

Pro-homosexual priest and Vatican adviser Fr. James Martin tweeted an immodest mockery of Our Lady of Guadalupe earlier this week that Mexican Catholics are calling “highly offensive” and “blasphemous.”  The Jesuit priest and editor-at-large of America Magazine tweeted three images based on the supernatural image of Our Lady of Guadalupe that were created by a feminist who “questioned this common icon of the ideal woman.”  One of the images tweeted by Fr. Martin depicts a woman with a hiked up skirt that reveals her thighs. She brandishes a serpent in her right hand. LifeSiteNews has pixelated the depiction.  “Mira! Look...

Red Semidouble WHILE the concourse of pilgrims to the sepulchre of the Bishop of Tours induced his third successor Perpetuus to raise over his precious remains the basilicas, in which so many prodigies were to be wrought all through the middle ages, Rome herself was dedicating to St. Martin one of her noblest churches, uniting with him as joint titular her own illustrious Pontiff and Confessor Sylvester. Adorned with this twofold glory, St. Martin-on-the-hill worthily inaugurated in the eternal City the cultus of Confessors side by side with that of the Martyrs. But another honor awaited the venerable sanctuary....

White Double THREE thousand six hundred and sixty churches dedicated to St. Martin in France alone, and well nigh as many in the rest of the world, bear witness to the immense popularity of the great thaumaturgus. In the country, on the mountains, and in the depth of forests, trees, rocks, and fountains, objects of superstitious worship to our pagan ancestors, received, and in many places still retain, the name of him who snatched them from the dominion of the powers of darkness to restore them to the true God. For the vanquished idols, Roman, Celtic or German, Christ...

James “spooky” Martin SJ has gone from the author of feel good Catholic bedside books for “take it easy” American Baby Boomer Catholics such as The Jesuit Guide to (Almost) Everything and My Life with the Saints as well as the occasional visitor on the Colbert Report (where he infamously gave the “hail satan” 1970s style rock concert devil horns to introduce the aging members of Metallica), to the...

How Much Longer Must We Tolerate This Wayward Priest? by Christopher A. Ferrara October 26, 2017 Father James Martin, SJ and his “Gay Church” juggernaut are on a roll, and anyone, even a bishop, who gets in his way must be crushed. Emboldened by the support of “gay”-friendly bishops and even cardinals, virtually all installed by Pope Francis, Martin dares to attack publicly a non-Francis bishop, Robert C. Morlino (consecrated by John Paul II in 1999) because his diocese of Madison, Wisconsin has published guidelines on avoiding scandal in the conduct of funerals for deceased involved in “gay marriage” or other...

Father James Martin the notorious homosexualist is commending an excommunicated priest who revealed he was also a homosexual while married to an ex-nun. Gregory Baum died on October 18 at 94 years old. America Magazine — the liberal-progressive magazine published by the Jesuits and of which Martin is editor at large — published an article, extolling Baum's alleged contributions to the Church's ecumenical relations with the Jews but mentioned little of the issue that brought him into the limelight. Not only was Baum a priest and adviser during the Second Vatican Council in Rome in the 1960's, but he also...

A fascinating admission surfaced recently in the whole firestorm surrounding James Martin S.J. – an admission that shouldn’t go unnoticed. Writing in defense of Father Martin in the liberal Catholic journal Commonweal, John Gehring begins, “If you’re looking for a Catholic priest who inspires people – and makes them laugh and think – James Martin, S.J., is your guy. At the Ignatian Solidarity Network’s annual conference, he’s greeted like a rock star by swarms of young Catholics who devour his books and remember him as Stephen Colbert’s ‘chaplain’ on the Colbert Report.” Ah, well, there you are then, you know...
