One of the most profoundly unfair provisions of Obamacare is that members of Congress and their staffers were unilaterally and illegally granted a special exemption from the law they themselves passed. Unlike many Americans, many of whom have been forcibly kicked off their current health care plans, the governing class and their staffers as of now will keep their insurance providers and receive an enormous taxpayer subsidy (depending on which plan they choose) to off-set rising health care costs. Sound fair? I didn’t think so. As it happened, many congressional staffers threatened to resign if they were forced to enroll...

A pretend game of cops and robbers landed a Florida elementary school boy with a very real suspension after he made a pretend gun with his thumb and index finger. The mother of 8-year-old Jordan Bennett said her son was only playing with his friend at Harmony Community School in St. Cloud. She fears his one-day suspension, which was handed down Friday, wrongly labels Jordan as a violent person. “There was nothing in his hand. He used his thumb and index finger,” Bonnie Bennett told WKMG-TV. “It was a game. He made no threatening advances or threats to harm anyone....

There is an all-out effort to demonize gun owners in the United States today. Those that own guns are repeatedly portrayed as being uneducated, mentally deficient racists in the mainstream media. No evidence is ever produced to actually back up those claims. Gun owners regularly make lists of “potential terrorists” in official government documents, and many government officials openly regard them as ultra-paranoid “conspiracy nuts” that are a serious threat to national security. Of course the truth is that gun owners are actually among the most law-abiding and patriotic people in the entire nation, but that doesn’t really fit with...

The list of things on which Barack Obama has been wrong goes on to the crack of doom. But there's one thing on which the President is surely right. In devising his strategy for dealing with the shutdown, the prez can count on the MSM to blame Republicans. Mark Halperin bared the president's calculus on today's Morning Joe, saying the Obama admin has little incentive to negotiate because it believes a "sympathetic" press will blame Republicans like they did in the 1990s, accusing them of being "obstructionist." View the video after the jump. Halperin offered what amounted to an indictment...

The Senate voted Monday afternoon to kill House Republicans’ latest stopgap spending offer, holding firm in their demand that Congress continue to fund Obamacare as part of any government-funding debate. The 54-46 vote officially tabled both proposals the House GOP passed early Sunday morning, one of which would have funded the government while delaying the health law for a year, and the other of which would have repealed one of the Affordable Care Act’s tax increases.

Liberals may not be able to pass a law through Congress that takes away our Second Amendment rights, but that just means they’re going to approach gun control from a different direction. A subsidiary of Visa, a key Obama campaign donor, that specializes in credit card transactions has abruptly stopped servicing the nation’s largest gun store after four years because the store sells guns, a fact the owners never hid. Hyatt Gun Shop of Charlotte, N.C., told Secrets that the subsidiary, Authorize.net/CyberSource, simply sent an email to owner Larry Hyatt to announce that it was suddenly breaking off the business...

Yet another student has landed in trouble for having something that represents a gun, but isn’t actually anything like a real gun. This time, the student is 12-year-old Joseph Lyssikatos, a student in advanced math who had perfect attendance last year. The seventh-grader made the mistake of bringing a ridiculously small, silver keychain shaped like a gun to Alan Shawn Feinstein Middle School in Coventry, R.I, reports local NBC affiliate WJAR.The two-inch keychain fell out of Lyssikatos’s backpack while he was at school. After another kid picked it up and displayed it to other students, a teacher intervened and impounded the keychain.Apparently fearing that the...

Thursday, Federal agents raided Lumber Liquidators. Lumber Liquidators advertises heavily on The Rush Limbaugh Show and even put in the flooring for one of Rush’s studios. The Richmond Times-Dispatch reports: "Agents from the Department of Homeland Security’s Immigration and Customs Enforcement, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the Department of Justice executed the search warrant at the company’s headquarters and plant near Williamsburg, said Brandon Montgomery, a spokesman for the Department of Homeland Security." The reason for the raid? Suspicion of using Mongolian Wood. Mongolian wood, apparently, is an imminent threat to Homeland Security.

September 27, 2013 Democratic Sen. Barbara Mikulski Lashes Out At ‘Tea Baggers’ From U.S. Senate Noah Rothman Sen. Barbara Mikulski (D-MD) called into MSNBC’s Andrea Mitchell Reports on Friday after the Senate voted for a cloture motion to move forward with a resolution which would fund the government. She lashed out at the ‘tea baggers’ in Congress who have mounted an effort to defund the Affordable Care Act through the continuing resolution process. Mitchell began by asking Mikulski why the vote to move forward with a CR was happening on Friday rather than Thursday night. “The reason Ted Cruz stood...

Senior White House Adviser Dan Pfeiffer compared House Republicans to suicide bombers, kidnappers and arsonists in an interview with CNN. Pfeiffer, the former White House communications director who was promoted to the senior spot after the 2012 election, explained President Obama’s unwillingness to compromise on his call for an unconditional increase in the federal debt limit: “What we’re not for is negotiating with people with a bomb strapped to their chest.” He also called Republican counterproposals “ransom demands” adding, “It’s not a negotiation if I show up at your house and say, ‘Give me everything inside or I'm going to...

Sen. Tom Harkin (D-Iowa) on Friday said that the Tea Party movement is just as dangerous for America as the Civil War. “A small group of willful men and women who have a certain ideology about how our country should run and what we should do cannot get their way in a normal discourse and votes,” Harkin said. “Since they can’t get their way they’re going to create this confusion and discourse and hope the public is so mixed up in who to blame for this that perhaps they’ll blame both sides.” “That is the path they see for taking...

Gun grabbers have found an issue where they can get almost unanimous consent across the board, including from gun owners. Nobody wants the dangerously insane to have weapons. not even the NRA. So using that bit of light coming in under the edge of the door, they’ve found a point of attack. Since we all agree that the insane shouldn’t have guns, we’ll pass a law to enforce that. And then we’ll start dumbing down the definition of “insane” to include as many people as possible. Because in the end, this was never about helping people. This is about taking...

It seems that on just about any given day, "tolerant" liberals express a desire to see conservatives, gun supporters or members of the NRA shot or killed. On Wednesday, Twitchy said, a tweet issued by comedian Dan Nainan indicated a desire to see a mass shooting at NRA offices. "There's one place I wouldn't mind seeing a mass shooting, and that's at the offices of the NRA," he tweeted. "[F]unny guy wishing death on others. You must kill on stage in Dubois," one person said in response. "[B]e a very short shooting as they would be walking into an armed...

Proviso, I fully realise that FR doesn’t use that accursed system, but this is meant to be cautionary tale of sorts and as a warning to those of you who venture out and come across the devil’s spawn of commenting systems. (Also realise that I restricted my self to just 5 items to keep this vanity short and sweet – and to make it easier on myself to order the top 5). 5). Disqus allows trolls to change their names on the fly. This may seem strange to those who are used to FR where your screen name is your...

A suspended seventh-grade student in Virginia Beach, Va., could be expelled for the rest of the school year for shooting an airsoft gun with a friend in his yard as they waited for the bus to come. Khalid Caraballo, 12, and his friend, Aidan, were suspended for “possession, handling and use of a firearm” because they “shot two other friends who were with them while playing” with the airsoft guns, WAVY-TV reported. …Caraballo answered “no, sir,” when asked if he took the toy gun to the bus stop or to school. “We were in our yard. This had nothing to...

A day after President Barack Obama visited the Washington Naval Yard, site of the nation's latest mass shooting, local and federal officials called on citizens across the country to form a coalition large enough to battle the powerful gun lobby. At a roundtable discussion at the Margaret Morton Government Center in Bridgeport on Monday, U.S. Sen. Richard Blumenthal, D-Conn., said he and other senators will only be able to take on the gun lobby and pass stronger gun laws if people throughout the nation speak up. "What makes the NRA strong is that they can mobilize tens of thousands of...

More and more leftists are becoming unhinged and revealing their brutal inner totalitarian. The latest is a fundraiser at the University of California, San Francisco, one of the nation's top medical schools. An official at that medical school took to Twitter to propose that the those who are "nonbelievers" in Obamacare be denied medical care.

Henry Porter, a columnist for The Observer, doesn’t think much of America’s Second Amendment. Nor does he care much for America itself, judging by his condescending commentary. His Lordship is very, very concerned about gun violence in America. In fact, he is so concerned that he believes it may be time for the world to “intervene” and save us from ourselves…or something. There is an excellent British descriptive that applies perfectly to Mr. Porter. He’s a twit. The annual toll from firearms in the US is running at 32,000 deaths and climbing, even though the general crime rate is on...
