NYPD put city on high alert while search continues for possible terrorist responsible for Chelsea explosion (title) The NYPD put the city on high alert Sunday while launching an all-out search for the possible terrorist who caused a massive explosion on a Manhattan street — and had planned to detonate a second blast just four blocks away. Cops and numerous federal agents were trolling through all available evidence — including a scrap of paper found in the second device, a pressure cooker filled with explosives and wired to a cell phone.

Fort Worth police say two officers were shot while responding to a shooting call at a home Friday evening. One officer is in critical condition, and the other has minor injuries, the department says. The call came in at about 8:30 from a home on the 3800 block of Wharton Drive. Police spokesman Officer Marc Povero said the arriving officers found a person in a back bedroom unresponsive from a gunshot wound. They were informed that a witness to the shooting was located in a shed in the backyard, so they went to make contact with that person.

A female Philadelphia Police Sergeant and a male University of Pennsylvania Officer were shot in West Philadelphia Friday night, according to police. One suspect was also shot and killed. Shots rang out after 11 p.m. near 51st and Sansom streets in West Philadelphia. Police said one suspect was dead. The search continued for possible other suspects. Officers could be seen searching homes in the area. A civilian was also shot. Both officers were taken to Penn Presbyterian Hospital, listed in stable condition. A man has reportedly been shot by police after hitting a police officer in the head with a meat cleaver near Macy's flagship store in New York. Police had been called out to deal with a cleaver-wielding attacker in Manhattan's Koreatown; the man refused to drop the weapon and the officers gave chase when he fled, police said. Cops say he then attacked one officer, causing a laceration to his head or face, and police opened fire - at which point another cop was struck in the back, authorities said.

PHOENIX (KABC) -- Dramatic surveillance video captured the moment a man intentionally crashed into three police officers at a Phoenix gas station, according to officials. Phoenix police said the attack happened at a QuickTrip gas station at about 1:45 a.m. on Tuesday. Authorities said the officers had just completed a call and were standing in the parking lot debriefing the incident when 44-year-old Marc Payne intentionally drove his car into them.

A Broward sheriff's deputy finds himself suspended without pay and facing a felony charge after being accused of shoplifting everyday household items from two WalMarts in Coral Springs, according to records obtained Friday by the Sun Sentinel. Surveillance video shows Deputy Dean Korenic, 46, shoplifting on seven occasions, investigators say. A Maryland woman was arrested for theft Wednesday after allegedly stealing three french fries from a D.C. police officer, police said. About 9:40 p.m., a D.C. police officer was eating in a restaurant at 1110 U St. NW when a 26-year-old woman approached him and ate one of his french fries, a D.C. police spokesman said. The body of an activist from St. Louis who led protests about the fatal police shooting of Michael Brown in Ferguson, Mo., in 2014 was found with a gunshot wound in the charred remains of a vehicle on Tuesday morning, according to the police and news accounts. The activist, Darren Seals, 29, was found inside the vehicle on Diamond Drive in Riverview in St. Louis County around 1:50 a.m., the St. Louis County Police Department said in a statement.
