For the American people, voting in the 2014 election was like choosing whether they'd rather get Democrat Ebola or the Republican flu. Just because they chose the flu doesn't mean that Republicans should start assuming that people love them. They don't. Hell, I'm a conservative and even I don't love the Republican Party. Our leadership teams in the House and Senate are comprised of inarticulate country club Republicans who are to politics what the Waffle House is to fine dining. Many of the Capitol Hill staffers and consultants are out-of-touch lickspittles who hold flyover country conservatives in contempt because they’ve...

It’s definitely late. Is it too little? During the GOP primary Frei, who lost to Lee Terry 53-47, accused Terry of “dirty politics.” In the final hours of his toughest and at times strangest Capitol Hill campaign in 16 years, Republican Congressman Lee Terry is scrambling to shore up his GOP base—thousands of potential voters who refused to back him in the May primary election. Early today Team Terry launched a 60 second radio ad which finds Dan Frei,—Terry’s tea party opponent from that rough and tumble, six-point primary—asking his “friends” to vote for Terry on Tuesday.

Obama bundler Jodie Evans and Code Pink, the leftist group she co-leads, have been found to be working with a group whose leaders have recently been declared terrorists and al Qaeda supporters by the Treasury Department. This is not the first time the Democratic Party allied group has been caught in bed with terrorists. As this writer has reported over the years, Code Pink works with terrorists, state sponsors of terrorists, the Democratic Party and President Barack...

Tuesday on MSNBC's "NewsNation with Tamron Hall," Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee (D-TX) said President Barack Obama should go ahead with his reported plans to give amnesty to 5 to 6 million illegal immigrants because the House Republicans won't pass the Senate's version of comprehensive immigration reform. The Texas Democrat said, "I would applaud the president because all we're doing is taking a sore, bleeding sore and watching it bleed, continue to be infected, and sprinkling water on top of it. That's what the Republicans are doing."

Washington and Lee University expressed regret Tuesday for the school’s past ownership of slaves and promised to remove Confederate flags from the main chamber of its Lee Chapel after a group of black students protested that the historic Virginia school was unwelcoming to minorities. President Kenneth P. Ruscio’s announcement was a surprising move for the small, private liberal arts college in Lexington, which has long celebrated its Southern heritage. Confederate Gen. Robert E. Lee served as the university’s president after the Civil War, his crypt is beneath the chapel, and the school has gingerly addressed its ties to the Confederacy...

One day after the GOP’s Lee Terry opened the door to closing off compromises on Capitol Hill, Democrat Brad Ashford tells Nebraska Watchdog that Terry’s talk is “ridiculous, it’s disappointing.” Following Eric Cantor’s tea party ambush on Tuesday, Terry, an 8-term incumbent, told CNN, “Do we compromise? How do we work together? All of this is now in question.” Ashford says the “Cantor lesson” is just the opposite. “You can’t find solutions without working together,” says Ashford. Terry, of course, is coming off his own Cantor-like primary—just last month Terry survived a threat from his right wing, defeating Republican Dan...

Dear Friend of the Second Amendment: Just hours ago, I made an important decision. But that doesn’t mean it was a hard one. Today, I’m happy to announce Gun Owners of America Political Victory Fund is endorsing Lee Bright for the United States Senate in South Carolina. Of course, incumbent Republican Senator Lindsey Graham’s betrayal of our Second Amendment rights is likely no surprise to you. But the incredible record Lee Bright has racked up as a State Senator in South Carolina may be. Senator Bright is the lead bill sponsor of Constitutional Carry and has long been the “go-to”...

When it comes to Congressman Lee Terry’s re-election push, Dan Frei is pushing back. Only hours after his badly underfunded bid to unseat Terry in Tuesday’s Republican primary came up just short on votes but long on attaboys, Frei tells Nebraska Watchdog he’s keeping his distance. “I do not have an endorsement for Congressman Terry,” says Frei who was also a no-show at the GOP’s post-election unity breakfast in Lincoln. Despite ponying up $900,000 to Frei’s $40,000, Terry, an 8-term incumbent, managed a meager six-point win.

On May 12, General Grant ordered II Corps commander Maj. Gen. Winfield S. Hancock to lead the attack on the Muleshoe, this time from the north, near its tip, where in theory it should have been most vulnerable... ..During the night Confederate pickets heard a rumbling that sounded like troops moving, and Maj. Gen. Edward Johnson alerted his brigade commanders... Within the works Rebels got the order to fire, but in the damp morning air many powder charges failed to ignite. The Yankees poured over the Confederate works by the hundreds, fighting hand-to-hand with bayonets and clubbed muskets. The Federals...

Most Americans know that our revolutionary history began when a handful of brave patriots tossed crates of tea into Boston Harbor to protest unfair taxation. But what they might assume incorrectly is that our forefathers did so in response to increased taxes. In fact, the Tea Act of 1773 actually lowered taxes on imports. What truly offended the colonists was that it only lowered them for one corporation, the politically connected East India Company, giving it an unfair, artificial advantage over smaller, local American competitors. Thus, not only was the American idea hatched in protest to a government that was...

Spike Lee is likening Donald Sterling's racist and inflammatory remarks to those of a slave owner. Lee, speaking to CNN's Anderson Cooper, said that he believes the owner of the L.A. Clippers should be removed from his position within the NBA.

If we are unable or unwilling to see and confront the extreme lack of character -- the dishonor -- in Captain Lee's behavior, on the grounds that "we weren't in his shoes," then we are only increasing the chances that our own response, should we ever find ourselves in similar shoes, will be as weak as his. If we rationalize his action, we are implicitly rationalizing our own. That, in fact, is likely the main reason we excuse shameful actions so easily today: we are hoping to excuse ourselves from scrutiny (including and especially self-scrutiny) regarding our own failures of...

Texas Republican Sen. Ted Cruz threw his support behind T.W. Shannon in Oklahoma's GOP senate primary, The Hill reported. Shannon is a former state House Speaker. This was the first primary endorsement made by Cruz, who has a strong following among tea party-aligned Republicans. The endorsement allows him to honor his pledge not to back insurgents in primaries involving Senate GOP colleagues, The Washington Post reported. Shannon is in an open primary. A special election in November will fill the seat being vacated by Republican Sen. Tom Coburn two years before his term ends in 2016. Cruz plans to attend...

Ted Cruz waded into a contested open-seat primary in Oklahoma on Wednesday, endorsing former Oklahoma House Speaker T.W. Shannon over Rep. James Lankford. Though Cruz has shied away from endorsing Republican Senate incumbents locked in contested primaries, the Texas Republican had no qualms backing Shannon, who is increasingly drawing support from the Republican Party’s right flank in his bid to take the seat of retiring Sen. Tom Coburn.

The timing is impeccable: A dozen famed conservatives with liberty, tradition and smaller government on their minds gather a mere 72 hours before Tax Day dawns. That would be the Freedom Summit on Saturday, a daylong showcase organized by Americans for Prosperity and Citizens United, staged in Manchester, the most bustling town in New Hampshire.

Republican senator Mike Lee has an op-ed decrying cronyism. But first, he says, the Republicans must purge the unseemly activity from within its "own ranks." "[T]o fix what’s broken in Washington and our economy," Lee writes in National Review Online, "a still-distrusted GOP first must end cronyism in our own ranks. The GOP has to close its branch of the Beltway Favor Bank and truly embrace a free-enterprise economy of, by, and for the people."

FBI agents working alongside Utah state prosecutors in a wide-ranging corruption investigation have uncovered accusations of wrongdoing by two of the U.S. Senate’s most prominent figures — Majority Leader Harry Reid and rising Republican Sen.
