BEIJING – One person was shot dead after a knife attack that left at least three people dead in a Chinese market Friday, state media said, in the second such attack in two weeks. Another person was injured in the attack in the southern city of Changsha, according to local radio station Hunan Jiaotong.

OCALA, Fla. (AP) — The president of a north Florida tea party group has been killed in a two-vehicle car crash in Marion County. The Florida Highway Patrol told the Ocala Star-Banner (http://bit.ly/1g8qE0M ) that 70-year-old Stephen Hunter of Sparr died in the Friday night crash. Hunter headed the Ocala Tea Party or Tea Party Solutions for the last several years. Friends say Hunter was a Vietnam veteran who later worked at defense contractor Lockheed Martin.

A U.S. Army Special Forces sergeant from Keller was killed Sunday in Kandahar Province, Afghanistan, Defense Department officials reported Monday. Staff Sgt. An air strike in southern Somalia has killed two senior commanders of the militant Islamist group, al-Shabab, residents have told the BBC. An 18-year-old Georgia man will spend the rest of his life behind bars for fatally shooting a baby riding in a stroller during a robbery attempt at a seaside town, a judge ruled Thursday.
