A U.S. Army Special Forces sergeant from Keller was killed Sunday in Kandahar Province, Afghanistan, Defense Department officials reported Monday.
Staff Sgt. Alex Anthony Viola, 29, was fatally wounded when an improvised explosive device detonated, according to a news release.
This was Violas first deployment during his military career, according to a news release from the U.S. Army Special Forces Command at Fort Bragg, N.C. His unit was attacked while on dismounted patrol.

He made the ultimate sacrifice for his country. I just pray that this administration has an awakening and sends the rest of these brave men and women home now so no more have to die. It would be a tremendous Christmas present.
I agree; so pointless. And may the last plane out blast that hell to glass.
