Basic income is a government-funded policy that provides regular cash payments to citizens with no strings attached. If approved, Austin's local government will partner with the California non-profit UpTogether to administer the program and analyze the results once the year-long trial run is complete. The Austin Police Department revealed a brightly-colored PRIDE car Wednesday, the final day of Pride Month, and says the vehicle will join the department’s celebrations during Austin’s Pride parade in August. The department said this month it also became the first department in Texas to adopt a Pride patch for its officers and civilian staff to wear in June and during the parade. AUSTIN – Gov. Rick Perry was indicted on two felony counts for abuse of official capacity and coercion of a public servant late Friday by a Travis County grand jury. The case stems from Perry’s vetoing the $7.5 million biennial funding for the Travis County Public Integrity Unit last year. It was a lose-lose situation for an Austin man. He ran his bicycle into the side of a trailer on an Austin street, and he faces charges for it. It happened at 2:20 p.m. Tuesday in the 1700 block of East Oakland Avenue.
