The Austin Police Department revealed a brightly-colored PRIDE car Wednesday, the final day of Pride Month, and says the vehicle will join the department’s celebrations during Austin’s Pride parade in August. The department said this month it also became the first department in Texas to adopt a Pride patch for its officers and civilian staff to wear in June and during the parade.
The department worked with the Lesbian and Gay Peace Officers Association and Cops for Charities to create the patch and an accompanying hat.

One of the seven deadly sins... pride. And i would think that pride in taking it right up the wazzoo would make god even more angry.
I do try to have sympathy for officers who are injured or killed in the line of duty.
But let’s face it: All across this country, the police are working for the other side. They are not our friends. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I know there are exceptions. I know your Brother-in-law is a an officer and he’s really a good guy. I’m not talking about him. I’m talking about the other 99.99%.

Okay, are the “pride patches” mandatory for officers to wear, because I could see some serious 1st Amendment rights violations here. That symbol is purely a political one.

People who drape themselves in banners that proclaim pride are really very ashamed of themselves.
Maybe, just maybe, I’m starting to see the first signs of a backlash. A young family member (early teens) was just telling me yesterday how her friends are starting to gripe amongst themselves about the number of their peers who self-identify as “LGBT” and how obnoxious they are with all their “pride” crap. This is in San Francisco.
This wouldn’t have been noteworthy when I was that age 35 years ago, but it seems novel to me now... as for the last decade, anything resembling negative commentary directed toward LGBT has been de facto verboten, especially among youth.
But it looks FAAAAAbulousssss!
If someone who hates the police damages this vehicle, could they be charged with a hate crime?
