A burned 1,500-year-old Hebrew scroll found on the shore of the Dead Sea was recently deciphered, 45 years after archaeologists discovered it, researchers in Israel have announced. "The deciphering of the scroll, which was a puzzle for us for 45 years, is very exciting," Sefi Porath, the archaeologist who discovered the scroll in 1970 in Ein Gedi, Israel, said in a statement from The Israel Antiquities Authority (IAA). The Ein Gedi parchment scroll is the oldest scroll discovered from the Hebrew Bible since the Dead Sea Scrolls, which date to the end of the Second Temple period, about 2,000 years...

A family friend sent me a link to my ex husband's Facebook page telling me that I would not believe it. She was right. We split 25 years ago. While politics played no role in our issues, we were night and day in that arena. When we were married, he was a barely practicing Jew. His Facebook page shows a changed man. He is now quite vocal about issues affecting Isreal and has a good working understanding of who obama really is. And apparently omama gets all the credit for the transformation. I pray that many more see the light.

This is the post in its entirety. Sorry of not formatted. Not sure if the FB is open to all: PINCHAS vs. NEWSPEAK aka The GAY MARRIAGE Debate Balak, King of Moav had failed, and so the Jews marched on. His sorcerer for hire, Bilaam, then came up with Plan B. Seduce them, lower their moral standards. He was successful. Now the Jews marched to a different tune. They traded, “Do you feel G-d?” to “Does it feel good?” A plague broke out and thousands died. One man turned the tide. Pinchas. For his bravery, G-d granted Pinchas immunity from...

Sir Nicholas Winton - BBC Programme "That's Life" aired in 1988 (1:29 min) Sir Nicholas George Winton, MBE, who just died last week at the age of 106, was a British humanitarian who organized the rescue of 669 mostly Jewish Czechoslovakian children on the eve of the Second World War in an operation later known as the "Czech Kindertransport."  An article in Time paying tribute to Winton, a Jew by descent who had been raised as a Christian, was traveling in German-occupied Czechoslovakia and recognize that many children would die. He found homes for the children and arranged for trains to carry them from Nazi-occupied Prague to...
  • Why Does Torah Law Allow Polygamy?

    Chabad ^ | June 27, 2015 | Rabbi Tzvi Freeman, senior editor
Just to magnify your question somewhat, you’ll note that Torah presents the original paradigm of marriage—that of Adam and Eve—as monogamous. Furthermore, virtually every instance of polygamy recounted in the Torah is related directly by the narrative to some sort of calamity—whether strife between competing wives, as was the case with Hannah and Peninah,1 or between rivaling half-siblings, e.g. Jacob’s2 and King David’s sons.3 Even the very verse4 in which the Torah provides a green light for polygamy frames it within an undesirable circumstance: “If a man will have two wives, one beloved and the other hated . . .”...

Question: "What was Nehushtan?" Answer: The word Nehushtan occurs one time in the Bible, in 2 Kings 18:4, “He [Hezekiah] removed the high places and broke the pillars and cut down the Asherah. And he broke in pieces the bronze serpent that Moses had made, for until those days the people of Israel had made offerings to it (it was called Nehushtan).” Second Kings 18:4 points back to Numbers 21:6–9, “Then the LORD sent fiery serpents among the people, and they bit the people, so that many people of Israel died. And the people came to Moses and said, ‘We...

When it comes to tomorrow, Christians need to think while watching the Star of Bethlehem which will appear after an absence of roughly 2000 years. Tomorrow (June 30th, 2015) the Star of Bethlehem will be making a return. Will this mean that the signs of the end is beginning to unfold? And what did this sign mean? Is it a time of joy or suffering or both? How could King Herod's own advisors have been unaware of a star so bright that it could have led the wise men to Jerusalem? According to Professor David Weintraub, this may be because...

German media are reporting on a fiftieth anniversary panel discussion of Nostra aetate, the “Declaration on the Relation of the Church with Non-Christian Religions” of the Second Vatican Council, organized by the German Catholic bishops’ conference. It was meant to be a respectful look back and a celebration of good relationship between Christians and Jews in Germany. But it turned out differently than planned. Josef Schuster, the president of the Central Council of Jews, unexpectedly called for the revocation of the newly formulated Good Friday petition for the Jews which Pope Benedict wrote in 2008. Even more unexpected, Bishop Heinrich...
  • What Now? An Eternal Message of Biblical Morality

Man made systems and societies are not perfect. But there's a difference between good and productive and that which is tremendously destructive. America was founded upon Judeo-Christian values. In other words, the base and foundation of secular legal morality was Biblical. It is true there are various groups that seek to adhere to the Biblical Code in profoundly different ways, some of which even run opposite to the accepted original meaning of the verses, but all at least sought and spent energy pondering the meaning of G-d's word and what that means for society. And on that foundation, the most...

It's amazing how quickly much of society seems ready to change the definition of an age old institution that has been at the core of its growth and development, without so much as a second thought. No societal institution has been as responsible for the growth and development of every individual, and of society as a whole, as has traditional marriage, the bedrock upon which stable children, stable families and flourishing personal and societal growth spring forth. One must also ask whether we would be equally as unquestioning were someone to suggest changing the other age old definition that is...

For those who don't have much familiarity with the dispute between Protestants and Catholics over the doctrine of the papacy, I want to post two introductory articles on the subject today and tomorrow. The first article, this one, will be about the Biblical evidence, and tomorrow's article will be about the early post-Biblical evidence. Roman Catholicism claims the papacy as its foundation. According to the Catholic Church, the doctrine of the papacy was understood and universally accepted as early as the time of Peter: "At open variance with this clear doctrine of Holy Scripture as it has been ever understood...

Courtesy of Vox Cantoris, we are alerted to the astonishing end of the encyclical, Laudato Si. I wonder if any paragraph worse than this could have been written by any Pope. The text is below. This is not a draft. It is the official version from the Vatican site. 246. At the conclusion of this lengthy reflection which has been both joyful and troubling, I propose that we offer two prayers. The first we can share with all who believe in a God who is the all-powerful Creator, while in the other we Christians ask for inspiration to take up...

My questions pertain to the tribulation they are as follows: 1. If there is a rapture, does it happen before or after people start receiving the mark of the beast? 2. If before is there some event that happens prior to receiving the mark of the beast? I'm not looking to debate if there is or isn't a rapture, just where in the progression of events people are forced to receive the mark of the beast and we move to a cashless world.

Jimmy Carter severed his ties with the Southern Baptist Convention, but apparently is still a Baptist (Maranatha Baptist Church). Josh Duggar and the Duggar family are Independent Baptist. Some will say that neither of them go to the right Baptist church or the correct one and thus neither of them are truly Baptist, just as some Methodists will say that other Methodists don't go to the right Methodist church and thus truly aren't Methodist. Some Jewish people may say that other Jews, (although quite orthodox in their beliefs) aren't quite Orthodox enough and thus aren't truly Jewish when it comes...
