For those of you who are thinking it couldn't possibly get any worse, I present to you the Joe Bastardi two-week outlook.
-
Long range forecast for January.
-
Out look for Christmas and January.

A thorough explanation of the origins of the rain storms hitting California. There is no tropical moisture involved. Systems coming in to west coast are all well north of Hawaii, which is dry. So the rain is a product of cold air off the Asian continent colliding with warm water off the west coast. Otherwise, Joe argues for a very snowy Christmas.

Long range weather forecast through Christmas.
-
December forecast and comparisons to years previous.
-
Comparison of this winter with 1976. This November looks like, and may even be colder than, 1976. "When you know you have a similar pattern, you go to the similarities." The bottom line is, it's not global warming.

Jo Bastardi discusses the weather.

Vary long explanation of the "polar vortex" that will, supposedly, attack this coming week. Very interesting explanation. Things are not as some forecasters might portray it. It's still going to be ugly, possibly for Thanksgiving. Joe argues for more research for short term forcasting, because the current modeling isn't terribly accurate because of changes, maybe because of solar dimming. Maybe. But this is the problem; that there isn't enough research done for short-term forecasting. Case in point: The sudden crash of the Southern Oscillation index and its effect on the feedback of heat from energy released by convection activity is...

More on winter forecast and onset of limited El Nino.

Hurricanes and historical records, this year's El Nino. Factors Weatherbell is looking at on their way to predicting this year's winter.
-
Joe's Saturday rant on global warming, Michael Mann, and near weather.
-
1-5,6-10 day forecasts, winter. Why the cold will be centered farther east than NWS is predicting.
-
Long term/winter forecast, 1-5, 5-10 day. California to remain dry until winter.
-
The best is at the end; The People's Climate March! Five-day calm before the storm? Six to ten rain maybe in Northwest; possible cyclone in Gulf of Mexico. "Fall ridge, winter trough." So. Hemisphere ice at record extent.
-
Another hit to the southwest from a hurricane. Texas hit from low coming in from the tropics. A look at the coming winter; it looks a lot like last winter. That ridge of high pressure in the Gulf of Alaska sent everything that would have belonged to California up and over to the Midwest. And it looks like the same for this year. I don't see increased rain, but Joe said more winter rain, so I wait.
-
September and winter forecast. Increased tropical activity may cause mischief on east coast and Gulf of Mexico. Cold coming early this month to upper mid-west and plains states.
-
WARNING! Joe sings in last part of video. Be prepared! Genuine North American monsoon in the Gulf of Mexico. Very little tropical activity. Some potential tropical activity off the north coast of south America. Another, larger, potential off the west coast of Africa. 1-15 outlook for US, and a variety of forecasts for fall.

I see that both the Farmer’s Almanac and Joe Bastardi (the other Joey B) are predicting another El Nino winter, which means a stormier and colder than normal winter, especially along the east coast. That could prove to be a bit of a problem since power companies apparently took Barry at his word that “if somebody wants to build a coal plant, they can — it’s just that it will bankrupt them.” So they didn’t. And they’re closing the coal plants they do have: “In order to comply with the new Obama era EPA regs, American Electric Power, which supplies...
