The House of Representatives passed a bi-partisan resolution Tuesday night reaffirming “In God We Trust” as the official motto of the United States. The 396-9 vote came at the request of Rep. Randy Forbes (R-VA) – in part over President Obama’s refusal to correct remarks he made that misstated the motto as “E pluribus unum” instead of “In God We Trust.”Lawmakers voting against “In God We Trust” include Rep. Jerrold Nadler (D-NY), Rep. Gary Ackerman (D-NY), Rep. Justin Amash (R-Mich), Rep. Judy Chu (D-CA), Rep. Emanuel Cleaver (D-MO), Rep. Mike Honda (D-CA), Rep. Hank Johnson (D-GA), Rep. Bobby Scott (D-VA),...

For more than 200 years, Americans have revered the Constitution as the law of the land, but the GOP and tea party heralding of the document in recent months - and the planned recitation on the House floor Thursday - have caused some Democrats to worry that the charter is being misconstrued as the immutable word of God. "They are reading it like a sacred text," said Rep. Jerrold Nadler (D-N.Y.), the outgoing chairman of the House Judiciary subcommittee on the Constitution, civil rights and civil liberties

Politics: Corruption has always been with us, usually in the form of backroom deals and paid-for lawmakers. But sometimes it's depravity of thought and language, and today there's plenty of that to go around. Consider, for a start, the wisdom of one Jerrold Nadler, the Democratic congressman who represents Lower Manhattan, including Wall Street. On CBS' "Face the Nation" Sunday, he likened Republicans to "a bunch of gangsters" because they refused to back down from their principles on the tax-cut deal with President Obama. It wasn't that statement, though, that illustrated corruption of thought and language. It was what came...

Both House leaders of the Congressional Progressive Caucus are throwing their support behind Rep. James Clyburn (D-S.C.) in his race against Rep. Steny Hoyer (D-Md.) for minority whip. "I support Mr. Clyburn. They both have been effective leaders, but Jim Clyburn is our whip, and he’s been a good whip,” the co-chairwoman of the caucus, Rep. Lynn Woolsey (D-Calif.), told The Hill. Woolsey said the group’s co-chairman, Rep. Raúl Grijalva (D-Ariz.), was also backing Clyburn, although the caucus as a whole was not taking a position in the intra-party battle. “We’ll be working it [for Clyburn], but not for the...

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has more than quadruped the rent on her San Francisco district office, with the $18,736-a-month rent in her new, South of Market digs the highest in the House, according to a new report. Her rent is nearly double that of the next-highest rent among House members. Rep. Jerrold Nadler, D-N.Y., pays $10,600 a month for his office in Manhattan's Soho District, Pelosi moved last fall from the federal building at 450 Golden Gate Ave. to the 18-story federal building at 90 Seventh St. She had been paying about $4,300 a month for her old office.

This past March, Heather Heidelbaugh, a Pennsylvania Attorney, testified before Congressman Jerrold Nadler's Constitution, Civil Rights, and Civil Liberties subcommittee about the fraud perpetuated by ACORN. Her testimony alleged violations of the election code, fraud and misrepresentation, and violations of equal protection and due process. Rep. John Conyers (D-Mich.) was shocked at the testimony and called for a probe of the Democrat's favorite tax fraud group but Nadler's response was to stonewall. Actually what he said is that he would investigate ACORN once he saw some evidence show that a probe was warranted....This morning in Nadler's committee, Rep. Steve King...

ACORN, the criminal enterprise that has been partially funded with OUR tax money is following the advice of Jerrold Nadler, Congressman from NY and suing the government to get its funding back. It all started this past March when Heather Heidelbaugh, a Pennsylvania Attorney, testified before Congressman Jerrold Nadler's Constitution, Civil Rights, and Civil Liberties subcommittee about the many criminal and fraudulent activities run by President Obama's favorite community organizing group, ACORN. Her testimony alleged violations of the election code, fraud and misrepresentation, and violations of equal protection and due process. Rep. John Conyers (D-Mich.) was shocked at the testimony...

The latest count shows ACORN under investigation in 20 states, its employees were charged with more than 50 counts of “election-related fraud,” and that ACORN has spent more than $1 million on restitution to avoid criminal prosecutions (although the Louisiana AG says that number is closer to $5 million). The is more than enough evidence to show that ACORN is corrupt throughout its vast organization and in so many ways. For weeks these pages have been calling for a special prosecutor. We cannot rely on the the politically appointed Democratic Party-led justice department to run an investigation, especially when you consider the...

Here is video of Fox News' Megyn Kelly telling Democrat Rep. Jerrold Nadler, "Let me educate you," about the facts regarding the supposed CIA "torture" interrogations. Kelly was talking with Nadler about former Vice-President Dick Cheney's criticism of Attorney General Eric Holder and President Obama for going forward with investigations of Bush-era CIA operatives who interrogated terrorist suspects. Kelly was "educating" Nadler about the idea that CIA agents should be subjected to investigation when they were following legal advice at the time. She also educated him that Career Prosecutors at the Department of Justice looked into this five years ago...

Here is video of New York Congressman Jerrold Nadler yesterday on Neil Cavuto's show being asked if he would opt into Government ObamaCare should Government Health Care be passed. Nadler never really answered the question. He just crowed that he was in in the Congressional plan because he is on his wife's New York State policy, which he said is better than the Congressional Plan! . . . . (Watch Video)

Lawmakers who favor gun control are not optimistic about next year even though Democrats may be running Congress and the White House. Rep. Carolyn McCarthy (D-N.Y.), the sponsor of legislation that would reinstate the expired federal assault weapons ban, dismissed the idea that her bill might pass in the 111th Congress. “It’s a pro-gun House, a pro-gun Senate and [Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) or Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-N.Y.)] won’t want to deal with it,” McCarthy said. McCarthy stressed that she is not giving up on reauthorizing the weapons ban that sunsetted in 2004, but also made clear she is...

A few weeks ago, former White House aide Bradford Berenson testified before the House Judiciary Committee about the much-debated question of whether suspected-terrorist detainees should have habeas-corpus rights. During one exchange, Rep. Jerrold Nadler (D., N.Y.) had this to say: "I don't see how you can pick up someone in New York and say that his rights are different or less because he's accused of being an enemy combatant, based on whatever information, as opposed to his being accused of being a murderer. . . ." Berenson responded: "[W]e need to be clear about what that means. It means that...

YORK -- People all over a large part of New York City are smelling a gas, and it's not clear where it's coming from. Numerous people have called 911 concerned about the odor. Con Edison, the Fire Department and the U.S. Coast Guard are investigating. PATH service has been suspended into the 33rd Street station. Service is still going into the World Trade Center station. Macy's department store has been evacuated, according to reports. There also are unconfirmed reports of a similar smell across the river in New Jersey. People between Midtown and Battery Park are reported to be smelling...

The Jewish Telegraphic Agency, a New York-based wire service that serves Jewish newspapers worldwide, launched a scorching four-part series on the Ford Foundation. Written by investigative reporter Edwin Black, the series, "Funding Hate," alleged that Ford had provided financial support to several Palestinian nongovernmental organizations accused of anti-Zionist and anti-Semitic behavior at the United Nations World Conference against Racism in Durban, South Africa, in late summer 2001. A Ford spokesman denied the thrust of Black's allegations: "We have seen no indication that our grantees in Durban or elsewhere engaged in anti-Semitic speech or activities." One month later, after a political...

Democrats on the House Judiciary Committee are so pleased with reports that Leakgate prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald is about to indict senior White House officials that they want him to lead an impeachment investigation into whether President Bush lied to Congress about Iraq's weapons of mass destruction. "The CIA leak issue is only the tip of the iceberg,” House Judiciary Democrat Jerrold Nadler complains in a message posted to his web site. In a letter asking the Justice Department to expand the scope of Fitzgerald's investigation, Nadler says: "We now have reason to believe that high crimes may have been committed...

Several leading Democrats have spent the past few days furiously back tracking from an outrageous — and thoroughly under-reported — demonstration of blatant anti-Semitism that manifested itself last week at a congressional quasi-hearing... what the Washington Post's Dana Milbank appropriately described as a "mock impeachment inquiry." ...Democrats... declared the so-called Downing Street Memos to be the unassailable "smoking gun" proving that President Bush lied the nation into war. Among the hand-picked "witnesses" was Ray McGovern, the former CIA analyst who has embarked on a new career denouncing the administration and, apparently, buying into every conspiracy theory the loony Left has...

Jerrold Nadler's Two Faces on Terror By Jacob LaksinFrontPageMagazine.com | June 13, 2005Last Friday’s House Judiciary Committee hearing on the Patriot Act had already been adjourned, but Jerrold Nadler, the Democratic blimpish congressman from New York and one of the leftmost members of the House Judiciary Committee, was too wound up to care: “We are not besmirching the honor of the United States, we are trying to uphold it,” bellowed the hefty Nadler. By this, Nadler meant to defend his attacks on the alleged abuses of the (in fact) privileged prisoners in Guantanamo Bay. Thanks to the efforts of the...

WASHINGTON – The United Nations has turned down a controversial request by nine members of the U.S. Congress to assign international observers to the U.S. presidential election in November. The request came in the form of a letter drafted by Rep. Eddie Bernice Johnson, D-Texas, and signed by eight other members of the House. "We are deeply concerned that the right of U.S. citizens to vote in free and fair elections is again in jeopardy," the lawmakers wrote to U.N. Secretary-General Kofi Annan. Besides Johnson, the other representatives signing the letter to Annan – all Democrats – were Julia Carson...

In July 2002, after decades of dieting, Jerrold Nadler, (aka the Waddler, Jerry the Hut) US Representative from New York's 8th Congressional, weighed 338 pounds. Then, as now, he was 5 '4" tall. In August 2002, Mr. Nadler underwent gastric surgery, a "sleeve job" that reduced his stomach to a small pouch. By mid-November 2002, he had lost 61 pounds. In the nine months following, he lost an additional 14 pounds. That's an average of 1.5 pounds per month. The likelihood is that he lost no weight at all for some months. He now weighs about 263 pounds and is...
