President Trump wants to build a wall on the Mexican border. I support this wholeheartedly. What will happen when a future lib president/congress decides to tear it down? Will conservatives allow this? I know this is an unpleasant topic, but something that needs to be considered and safeguarded against. We need to think long term.

Eight asylum-seekers, including four children, barely made it across the Canadian border on Friday as a U.S. border patrol officer tried to stop them and a Reuters photographer captured the scene. As a U.S. Customs and Border Patrol officer seized their passports and questioned a man in the front passenger seat of a taxi that had pulled up to the border in Champlain, New York, four adults and four young children fled the cab and ran to Royal Canadian Mounted Police on the other side. One by one they scrambled across the snowy gully separating the two countries. RCMP...

With the ascension of former Sen. Jeff Sessions to attorney general and several of his former staff installed at the White House and federal agencies, immigration policy experts are sensing a sea change in Washington. Advocates and policy staff of both parties half-jokingly refer to the "Sessions cabal" that has now found power in President Donald Trump's Washington -- a group that for years has found itself outside the mainstream on immigration policy in Washington and faced ire from their Republican and Democratic colleagues for what one sparring partner called "strident" positions.

Union leader says some stations continue to follow Obama 'catch and release' directives Some border patrol stations have been slow to carry out President Donald Trump’s immigration enforcement executive order and instead have continued former President Barack Obama’s “catch-and-release” policies, according to a union official. Brandon Judd, president of the National Border Patrol Council, told LifeZette that he raised concerns Thursday with U.S. Border Patrol Chief Ronald Vitiello. He said he is confident that issue soon will be corrected. But Judd said as recently as Thursday, some border patrol stations were still releasing border-jumpers, often without even issuing notices to...

A dozen workers at a Catoosa restaurant are without a job today after getting fired for skipping work as a show of support for “A Day Without Immigrants.” The restaurant workers are all Hispanic and they say it was important to them to participate in the national protest. But they didn’t think it would cost them their jobs. “They feel like they’ve been unfairly terminated," said a friend, translating for the employees. The group worked at “I Don’t Care” Bar and Grill in Catoosa. They talked to us after they were fired for not showing up to work. They asked...

The much-ballyhooed “Day Without Immigrants” turned out to be a day without many protestors or any political impact, but with many Mexican flags, angry slogans, and a muted social-media response by amnesty advocates.

MODESTO, Calif. (AP) — Speakers at a Vatican-sponsored conference in Northern California — including an archbishop — denounced President Donald Trump’s orders on immigration and travel and vowed to fight them at a meeting Friday. Los Angeles Archbishop Jose Gomez said President Barack Obama deported a high number of people, but the harsh tone and cruelty coming out of the new administration was prompting mass fear and panic. “They’re playing with people’s emotions and toying with their lives and futures, and that is not right,” said Gomez, who noted his city has an estimated 1 million people who are living...

Lawyers for detained “Dreamer” Daniel Ramirez Medina went to court Friday seeking his immediate release and calling his arrest in a Des Moines apartment unconstitutional. A federal magistrate ruled he wasn’t empowered to free Ramirez before an immigration judge gets a chance to weigh in. But in a case that he said had far-reaching implications about federal policy regarding Dreamers, and which has drawn the concern of the Mexican government and immigration activists nationwide, Chief Magistrate Judge James Donohue took the unusual step of requiring that a bond hearing in immigration court be held within a week. U.S. District Court...

In Nolensville, nearly 20 employees at Bradley Coatings, Incorporated told their supervisors on Wednesday they'd be taking part as well. Then, on Thursday they were told they no longer had jobs. Allen Sanchez, executive director of the New Mexico Conference of Catholic Bishops, said Friday the Roman Catholic Church in the nation’s most Hispanic state would strongly oppose any effort to use National Guard troops to find and deport immigrants. He says using the National Guard on a peaceful population would be like declaring a war within the U.S. borders.

hile President Trump wavered Thursday on whether he will stop shielding from deportation people who were brought to the U.S. illegally as children, his aides have identified at least two ways to quietly end their protections without his fingerprints. An executive order has already been drafted to end the program, Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, that allows hundreds of thousands of the immigrants to live and work openly in the U.S. Trump used that legal mechanism to great fanfare to expand deportation authority and restrict entry to the U.S. But with the president showing less willingness to sign such an...

A second consecutive day of protests against U.S. President Donald Trump's month-old administration appeared to lose momentum on Friday, with rallies in Chicago, Los Angeles and New York attracting small yet enthusiastic crowds. Activists had called for a "general strike" a day after thousands of immigrants across the United States stayed home from work and school during "A Day Without Immigrants" to highlight the contributions of foreign-born workers to the American economy. Strike4Democracy, one of the groups organizing Friday's strike, said more than 100 public protests were expected around the country. In New York, more than 16,000 people responded to...

Over the last two weeks the Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency (ICE) has arrested nearly 700 people. The new Homeland Security secretary John Kelly said: "These operations targeted public safety threats, such as convicted criminal aliens and gang members, as well as individuals who have violated our nation's immigration laws."He went on: "...including those who illegally re-entered the country after being removed and immigration fugitives ordered removed by federal immigration judge."But despite the description of these action as "routine" and "targeted", they have caused great fear in some of the country's immigrant communities who fear the raids will intensify and...

....In 2010, former President Barack Obama said he would deploy 1,200 National Guard troops to the U.S.-Mexico border. They were sent to Arizona, Texas, California and New Mexico. While National Guard troops were not authorized to arrest people found to be crossing the border illegally, they helped staff observation posts, monitor surveillance footage and build fences. In 2006, former President George W. Bush called up 6,000 National Guard troops to California, Arizona, New Mexico and Texas. They were commissioned to help install border barriers, provide training and assist with border surveillance. The deployment was designed to support Customs and Border...

THIS WAS AMAZING— A pro-Trump African-American woman went off during a town hall meeting in Cudahy, California recently over sanctuary cities and illegal immigration. “When my people do a crime, it’s three strikes you’re out. When you do it, you get amnesty!” Trump Supporter: “When my people do a crime, it’s three strikes you’re out. When you do it, you get amnesty!… Sanctuary cities are racist!… Again the black community has literally been destroyed by racist illegal immigration and we’re not going to have it. When my people do a crime they get three strikes. When your people do a...
