An en banc federal appeals court has reinstated an order requiring the U.S. government to allow an abortion for a 17-year-old immigrant who is being held in a federally funded Texas shelter because she is in the country illegally. The U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit issued a 6-3 order (PDF) that overturned an Oct. 20 decision by a D.C. Circuit panel that had delayed the abortion, report Politico, BuzzFeed News and Reuters. The earlier, 2-1 panel decision had made it possible for the girl to have the abortion without government involvement because it allowed time...

An MSNBC reporter recently received a real world lesson in why President Trump’s promised border wall is crucially important to stop illegal immigration along the U.S.-Mexico border. A reporter covering prototypes of Trump’s proposed border wall taking shape near San Diego, when the interview was interrupted by a group of “migrants” hoping over the existing fence. “What happened?” the reporter shouted as a group of agents on horseback move in to nab the border jumpers. “The people are crossing!” “Almost on cue, a group of asylum-seekers, migrants not from Mexico, jumped over the existing fence to turn themselves in to...

An appeals court on Thursday halted a decision that would have allowed a pregnant illegal immigrant teen to get an abortion, just hours after a federal judge ordered the government to "promptly" take her to have the procedure. The unidentified 17-year-old girl, who is being held at a Texas facility after she entered the U.S. illegally, is believed to be about 15 weeks pregnant. Texas state law bans most abortions if a woman is more than 20 weeks pregnant and require them to get counseling from a doctor 24 hours before the procedure. Minors are also usually required to obtain...

On October 13 the Guardian reported that background check laws in Colorado and Washington state have proven a failure because citizens simply will not comply with them. This means that after millions upon millions spent, political offices lost, and promises of a Utopian world with less gun crime made, the checks have been a bust. According to The Guardian, the failure of these background check laws was discovered via research by Injury Prevention and it “is a setback for a growing gun control movement that has centered its national strategy on precisely the kind of state laws passed in Colorado...

Feds regulate serving sizes of breath mints! The Trump administration is delaying a regulation championed by former first lady Michelle Obama to redesign the Nutrition Facts label. The Food and Drug Administration on Friday issued a rule delaying until 2020 the compliance date for regulations that will make listed calories on food larger in an attempt to fight obesity. Mrs. Obama unveiled the new label in May 2016 as part of her anti-obesity "Let's Move" campaign. Aside from increasing the font size of calories and the addition of "added sugars" on the label, the regulations even dealt with how to...

The National Institutes of Health is spending nearly $700,000 for a study that will pay obese teenagers to not eat as much. A University of Minnesota study that began earlier this year is analyzing whether teens who receive financial incentives for replacing meals with liquid shakes is an effective anti-obesity tool. "Severe obesity is the fastest growing category of pediatric obesity, with a reported prevalence near 6 [percent] in the United States," according to the grant for the project. "Unfortunately, conventional treatment approaches rarely result in sufficient weight loss in adolescents with severe obesity; therefore, innovative and effective strategies are...

With most Republicans backing the Graham/Cassidy healthcare bill, there is at least one Republican senator who's still vocal in his opposition. His name? Senator Rand Paul. Unlike his colleagues, who don't take their promises to American voters seriously, Senator Paul continues to call for the complete and total repeal of ObamaCare, the horrendous health care bill pushed through Congress by former President Obama and his Democratic allies. I was thinking this all sounds familiar...amnesty?#GrahamCassidyÙ: Amnesty for Obamacare. — Senator Rand Paul (@RandPaul) September 19, 2017 "No one wants to repeal ObamaCare more than I do," the senator from Kentucky writes...

Taxpayers in the United States will face a steep bill if the Trump administration signs legislation to extend legal status to so-called “Dreamers,” the illegal aliens who arrived as children and are now protected under the Obama-holdover unlawful executive order known as DACA. The cost of a legislation to legalize childhood arrivals is likely to be far higher than earlier attempts because of Obamacare’s health insurance subsidies. The Affordable Care Act subsidizes the costs of health insurance for millions of Americans and would likely foot the bill for many of those whose residency in the U.S. would be legalized by...

Democratic congressional leaders emerged from a meeting with President Donald Trump Wednesday vowing to pursue an agreement protecting immigrants who were brought illegally into the U.S. as children from deportation. In a joint statement, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., said they and Trump had "agreed to enshrine the protections of DACA into law quickly, and to work out a package of border security, excluding the wall, that's acceptable to both sides."

California’s Democrat-dominated legislature passed a measure that would make it illegal for landlords to report tenants suspected of being in the country illegally, and would also allow illegal alien tenants to sue their landlords over any violations of code. According to the San Jose Mercury News, the bill’s author, David Chiu (D-San Francisco), says AB291— the “Immigrant Tenant Protection Act”— is about protecting the rights of tenants ostensibly endangered by the threat of Trump’s enforcement efforts:

A federal judge is expected to order the first known deported DREAMer to be allowed to return to the U.S. to make his case about why he should be able to stay in the country. Judge Gonzalo Curiel, of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of California, has said he wants a speedy trial for Juan Manuel Montes, the 23-year-old who was formally part of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program. Montes was arrested by Border Patrol agents in February 2017 after he was caught illegally entering the U.S., according to the Department of Homeland Security....

A majority of respondents in a new poll believe that Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton committed a crime by using private email server to conduct State Department business. A Rasmussen Reports poll published on Tuesday finds that 64 percent of likely U.S. voters say Clinton likely broke the law when she sent and received classified emails through her personal server while serving as secretary of State. Just 30 percent said it was "unlikely" that Clinton violated the law. Nineteen percent of Democratic voters in the poll said it was "very likely" that the 2016 Democratic nominee for president had committed...

About 70% of Los Angeles high school graduates enroll in two- or four-year colleges, but only 25% graduate within six years. ... it’s hard to assess recent district efforts that could be seen as pushing in different directions. On one hand, the district is touting higher standards: a high school graduation requirement that all students pass the courses necessary for applying to a four-year state college. On the other hand, the district requires a grade of D only in these classes and the colleges require a C or better to apply. The district also offers an array of “credit recovery”...

The fact that we celebrate the Every Student Succeeds Act for shifting education policy back to the states is an alarming indicator of federal dysfunction. Instead of rejoicing about a reduced extent of unauthorized federal meddling in state affairs, we should work to remove the heavy hand of centralized government entirely from every sphere in which it has no legitimate authority. A quick visit to the U.S. Department of Education’s website reveals just how thoroughly the feds have burst the seams of their constitutional pants. There we find the agency reminding states about deadlines for submitting “State plans” for education...

Foreign nationals attempting to enter the United States through various visa programs will now have to prove they have the means return to their native countries as federal law mandates. As part of President Donald Trump’s Buy American, Hire American Executive Order, the vetting procedures conducted by the State Department of foreign nationals trying to come to the U.S. have been strengthened to weed out not only radicalized individuals, but also foreigners with no documented intentions on departing. The National Law Review outlined the changes by the Trump Administration, writing that “the revisions appear to instruct officers to apply a...

Rosa Ortega, a mexican born illegal immigrant, registered and voted in 5 different Texas cities for Hillary Clinton. She bragged and bragged about it before finally getting caught. It is almost insulting to our election system that she was able to voted not only illegally, but 5 different times and 5 different places. Even though the portion on her license indentifies her as a non-citizen, she was still able to get through to cast a vote for an election she is not a citizen of. This is exactly what the now President of the United States, Donald Trump, was talking...
