On August 20, 1940, Prime Minister Winston Churchill told the British parliament: "Never was so much owed by so many to so few." Paleoconservative Pat Buchanan wrote this as a book title: "Churchill, Hitler and The Unnecessary War: How Britain Lost Its Empire and the West Lost the World" Science fiction writer H P lovecraft was born on August 20, 1890 in Providence, Rhode Island. He never lived to see World War Two. He believed: "The oldest and strongest emotion of mankind is fear, and the oldest and strongest kind of fear is fear of the unknown." Only God is...
  • Will the next to be censored into oblivion by BLM be H.P. Lovecraft? (vanity)

I was re-reading "The Call of Cthulhu" last night and could not stop thinking about how much this story would have had some screaming for Lovecraft's head had it been published in 2020 and not 1928. The use of "Negro" in the negative sense is pervasive. Indeed throughout his works there are blatantly racial connotations about blacks and other minorities. A cat in "The Rats in the Walls" is named Nigger Man. Semites and Orientals also get referenced in less than favorable terms in his mythology.Lovecraft died in 1937 at the age of 46 and in decades since he has...

According to scientists, a creature similar to H.P. Lovecraft's fictional and monstrous sea beast, Cthulhu, did exist at one point — the only difference is it was about 3 cm wide. In a computer-generated model created from a 430 million-year-old fossil, scientists say they've identified a never-before-seen species of sea cucumber which they aptly dubbed, Sollasina cthulhu, after the iconic monster monster feature in H.P. Lovecraft's 'Call of Cthulhu'.

I am not a Lovecraft devotee, since horror is not really my niche. I've been tangentially aware of the surge in Lovecraft-bashing, ever since World Fantasy Convention caved in on their trophy squabble. Now that the man's literary works are falling into the public domain, it seems there are a heap of people who want to re-do, un-do, re-work, or otherwise "colonize" the man's fiction legacy. Ah, cultural Marxism: same as it ever was. Here's the rub, though. Seeing people who are literally babies in the field, already planting their flags as "historic" persons, come to overturn the smelly...

Explanation: New high resolution images of Pluto are starting to arrive from the outer Solar System. The robotic New Horizons spacecraft, which zoomed by Pluto in July, has finished sending back some needed engineering data and is now transmitting selections from its tremendous storehouse of images of Pluto and its moons. The featured image, a digital composite, details a surprising terrain filled with craters, plains, landscape of unknown character, and landforms that resemble something on Earth but are quite unexpected on Pluto. The light area sprawling across the upper right has been dubbed Sputnik Planum and is being studied for...

The blob, which drips like honey, is between 15 and 20 million years old By Jeanna Bryner LiveScience updated 5:34 p.m. CT, Tues., May 26, 2009 Hidden beneath the U.S. West's Great Basin, scientists have spied a giant blob of rocky material dripping like honey. The Great Basin consists of small mountain ranges separated by valleys and includes most of Nevada, the western half of Utah and portions of other nearby states. While studying the area, John West of Arizona State University and his colleagues found evidence of a large cylindrical blob of cold material far below the surface of...
  • Cthulhu monument installed on steps of Alabama Judicial Building

Alabama Superior Court Justice Roy Moore addresses his supporters outside the Alabama Judicial Building where a monument of Cthulhu was put in place by Moore which he has refused to take down, August 21, 2003 in Montgomery, Alabama. Alabama's Supreme Court judges, breaking ranks with their chief justice, ruled that a Cthulhu monument must be removed from the state court building to comply with a federal order, drawing protests from insane cultists who want to keep it there. Larry Ellard of Pleasant Grove, Alabama, stands next to a large tablet representing Cthulhu, which he claims will "rise from the depths...
